The owner of this company C-note offered to put together a trailer for my feature film. He was paid close to $400, which he refuses to refund, and offered a $250 bonus to complete a high quality project by a deadline date. He failed to meet the deadline and delivered poor poor quality work. When asked to fix the poor sound, color, and quality of the project he agreed but did not. He so upset that he would not receive the bonus I offered, because he failed to meet the deadline date, that he refused to finish the project. Consumers beware. Be sure to see finished product for making any payments.

Thank you for your review. We are sorry that you were not satisfied with our work. We clearly stated that we have a no refund policy, and only kept the amount that equaled the work we did with you right there observing in the studio. We did work along side of you while you watched for over 4 hours. At that time, you were satisfied with the work. Once we learned that you were not satisfied, we offered to only keep the amount which we worked and to refund the remaining amount, which we did, however, we never agreed to a deadline. Again, we are sorry that you were not satisfied with the work, and we believe we were fair in our decision to only keep the amount for labor work performed. We also released the final version to you, so we believe we would be owed something for our work.

    Blessings...

    Customer Response

Below is the a copy of the email Cnote from Dream Media sent to me after I asked for changes to the 1st cut of the trailer. None of the updates he listed on this email where done. The 4 hours he speaks of took place during our initial meeting where I selected the clips I wanted to use for the trailer and then transferred the files from my hard drive to his computer. That is all. You'll see in his email that he never offered anything that reflects an attempt to complete the work or provide customer satisfaction. What you see from this email is a man deciding to break a service contract, suggest I pay someone else to complete the work he agreed to do, and yet keep claim this entitles him to keep my money. In closing, he makes a statement, that he and his colleges don't care to do business with my type. This is a lame attempt at an insult because he's upset that I mentioned discussing my bonus offer and did not accept his poor work. I'm willing to share the final product Cnote submitted with anyone who wants to avoid having their money taken in return for poor quality film editing services. Please see copied information below. The text messages contradicts his claim that there was no deadline date. It saddens me that a business/person would be so dishonest and possess the lowest levels of ethics and morals that can be found in a business.

"Ok...looks like I wont be able to get back into studio until Mon. Morn...as long as I can download the files, should be able to render by Mon afternoon. Will need final payment to release, but should be able to get final copy to you Mon. afternoon"

Oh no...Thats not good for me. I'll definitely need to see the finished product before moving forward on payments as well as discuss the additional $250 I added as appreciation for you agreeing to get this done for me before my trip on the 15th. I understand things happen but I don't have anything to present, and had to cancel my trip. Let's talk before you move forward. I'd like for us to be on the same page. Let me know when you're free.

    Hello...

I have completed editing your trailer to your original specifications. I have also performed the following edits:

    1. Removed the vignette
    2. Changed the music where indicated, and added Combat music
    3. Lengthened all of the clips we spoke about. I was able to add the original 16 clips we spoke about
    4. Lowered the overall music
    5. Increased the volume on the gunshot at the end

PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS MY FINAL EDIT. YOU WILL NOT NEED TO PAY ANYTHING ADDITIONAL. I WILL ONLY KEEP WHAT YOU PAID ME TO PAY FOR THE WORK I HAVE DONE ALONG WITH THE STUDIO THAT I BOOKED, AS WE HAVE A NO REFUND POLICY. I AM ATTACHING THE FINAL RENDERED VIDEO ALONG WITH THE AFTER EFFECTS SESSION SO THAT YOU MAY PASS ALONG TO ANOTHER EDITOR IF YOU LIKE.

ALSO, I WON'T BE ABLE TO PASS YOU ALONG TO ANY OF MY REFERENCES, INCLUDING CHAN AS YOU ARE NOT THE TYPE OF CLIENT WE CARE TO DO BUSINESS WITH.

I WISH YOU WELL IN YOUR ENDEAVORS AND GOOD LUCK TO YOU...
