We had **** from FCR come to replace en suite bathroom shower. Then we discovered upon completion of the project that the shower bar was built at a slant towards the bathroom floor, so every time we shower a flood of water spills out onto the floor rather than staying inside the shower to drain. When we told him about the problem, he blamed it on the guy he recommended to install the shower door. We then called that gentleman out to see if that was the problem. He showed us with a level what we already knew, that the shower bar was built incorrectly. We then contacted **** again and he again denied it was his fault and argued that he did it correctly. After telling him multiple times about our issue, he said for us to go and get the supplies and materials and he would fix it. This is where my wife and I decided we did not want him doing any more work on our shower. He is unprofessional and did not want to fix his mistakes. Aside from the above mentioned problem with the shower, the tiles on the wall that he installed are uneven and the whole job he did lacks attention to detail and professionalism to fix a very valid problem. We paid **** 3000 for a shower we can not use without putting towels on the floor outside of the shower door. He advised us to take him to court to resolve this problem.

I **** *********, owner of FCR Construction and Remodeling am responding to a complaint from my customer, ***** *******.  I personally performed the remodeling of the 3X3 feet shower.  As we were finishing the project before we turned in the job, we noticed that the step to the walk shower was unlevel.  So, I checked and found out that his concrete floor is the reason why my step was unlevel.  I called my customer, ***** and explained the situation to him.  I told we can fix it to look leveled.  He said, no that's okay.  I asked three times.  He said, it was fine so we closed out the job and he paid me in the final payment.

Two weeks later he called saying he wasn't happy with the job.  I asked why?  He said, I’m having water coming out on my floor.  I let him know I’d go back and do the repair I offered to performed prior to his final payment.  He said yes and I let him know the good part is we left him enough materials to do the repair.  He responded saying, I returned it all to the store.  I asked why as we’d already discussed the probability of needing to perform the repair.  So, I told him to buy the materials again and then to call me so we can go back and do the repair. He said, okay I’ll do that. Then, less than a week later, he called me back saying that I need to buy the materials because it was my fault, I let him know I’m responsible to perform a professional job which is why I agreed to go back and use the materials I left there to go back and do the repair.  However, since he returned the materials, he would need to repurchase them. He then agreed again to repurchase the materials.

It was around a month later when he finally called me to say he wasn’t happy with the job and wanted his money back. I responded, no sir this is not how business works.  We signed a contract giving you a two warranty for situations like this and I’ll be happy to come do the repair if you will let me.

At that point he avoided working toward resolution began negative texts and the complaint.   I’ve been in business a long time and take pride in my work.  I’ve made multiple attempts to resolve this issue but this customer denied me the opportunity to honor the warranty.  Therefore, I’m not responsible for a refund and do not deserve a complaint when I’ve tried to do the right thing despite the customer refusing to allow my company to come back and perform my duties.  I’m providing BBB with text messages to show he denied me the opportunity to do the right thing.

I am rejecting this response because:  I called **** with FCR back immediately after we noticed water running out onto the bathroom floor after using the shower.  I explained to him that the shower bar/curb was not built correctly and that it didn’t slant back towards the shower drain.   Once I told him that was the problem he got upset and said I needed to call the guy back that installed the door to see if there was a problem with the door gasket/seal.  He also added in the fact he has been doing tile work for the last 15 years and that he grew up with his Dad doing tile work and didn’t want to admit he made a mistake. Once I called the guy back that installed the door and had him come over and to look at it he even said there was nothing he could do to prevent water from exiting the shower once the door was opened.  The door guy confirmed that there was nothing more he could do to prevent water from escaping the shower and said that the shower curb was built improperly.  I also offered to pay for new tiles to fix the uneven shower curb/bar and asked **** to go back to tile store and purchase them but he refused to do that.  I know that if I ran a business and made a mistake I would have no problem making the drive back to the tile store and getting the necessary materials in order to make the job right for the customer.  I also wouldn’t argue with the customer and try to deny that what I built was done incorrectly.  The fact that he refused to go back to the tile store and the way he got upset over the phone when I pointed out his mistake is when I ultimately made the decision to not have him come back to fix the shower curb.  My complaint is to inform the general public that when a contractor or business doesn’t want to admit they made a mistake and gets upset after you point it out you shouldn’t have them doing work on your house.

    Sincerely,

    ***** *******

The contact gives a two year warranty and I, **** *********, was not given the opportunity to rectify the issue and therefore no refunds will be given.
