As of Monday, August 26, 2024, we were able to make contact with our customer to have a conversation about how to best resolve the matter. Our company is not open on Saturdays which is when Mr. **** emailed us his concern but instead of waiting for someone to respond on Monday morning upon opening, he found it necessary to file a BBB complaint on the same day he emailed us while we were closed.  At any rate, as of now, we have booked a meeting with Mr. **** for this Thursday, August 29, 2024, to visit him at his home in the A.M. hours.  Mr. **** has agreed to this meeting that will occur between myself, JaBriska with Allied Foundation and my Project manager, Pete *****.  After our visit, I will provide a follow up to update the BBB about the outcome of our site visit.

    Thank you,

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.

I was supposed to receive a call today from JaBriska ******** about a appointment, she would be booking for herself and a project manager. for tomorrow I didn't receive a call. I had to call in to see what time they would be out here, then received the time, they would be out, and also was she was off today and that she would not be joining the project manager. This is the same issue I keep running into with this company.

    Regards,

I had explained when I called to make the appointment that it was possible I might not make it but that my Project Manager would be there. Mr. **** told me, he would be available best in the early morning so that's what I took his word as being available, so I made a point to have my Project Manager Pete ***** at Mr. **** home early that morning at exactly 6:55 am. I do apologize for not being present during the site visit however I did make it known that my attendance was to be determined as we got closer to the date of arrival.

My confusion is why the homeowner keeps thinking we are providing bad service & why Mr. **** is not telling the situation exactly as it has been occurring between him & I. Pete is my very best & represents me in my absence.

According to our findings, the home is in need of additional work.  The work performed in the past only covers areas previous pilings have been installed in and any new areas of the home showing settlement would require additional pilings to be done to now level and stabilize those newly unsettled sections.  This home also still currently has Cast Iron under slab sewer line piping running beneath it that is causing erosion of the packed dirt now allowing the home shift and move within the interior of the home as well.  Any adjustments to the existing exterior pilings will only make not only the interior of the home more unlevel but will break the pipes as well if undue pressure is placed on it by only adjusting the exterior previous work installed.

A cost to repair was provided by my Project Manager however in order to not compromise or jeopardize the integrity of the foundation's current status, additional support pilings will be required and necessary to move forward.  Allied will always honor the existing work we have previously installed but it will have to be adjusted when Mr. **** is ready to install the other required pilings it will take to do the job correctly and safely for the integrity of the foundation.  He does not have to use our company for the additional work it needs and to be honest if he is not happy with our services than it is best that we do not contract new pilings with him so what we can do is be onsite and available to adjust our previously installed pilings at the same time he hires a different foundation repair company to perform any new piling installations.

This is our suggestion on how to move forward.  Thank you for your time and consideration and we look forward to working with the BBB and Mr. **** in any way we can to resolve this matter within our company policy and procedures.

    Respectfully,

    JaBriska ********

Response To Complaint ID #: ********

I'd like to start by saying, Allied Foundation honors ALL service agreements to our customers in regard to the piers that have been placed in the locations required at the time of original inspection/installation.  Having said that, this particular customer has had twenty-two (22) new exterior driven concrete piers originally done back on January 7, 2016.  Mrs. ***** called into our office the first week of February 2023 & we sent out her representative she requested, Mr. Elmer ******* on February 6, 2023.  At this time, he found that just adjusting the front portion of the home where the original existing piers are would not remediate the situation so upon his further review, he has assessed that the home would now require a total of seventeen (17) new interior driven concrete piers & ten (10) additional new exterior driven concrete piers.

The majority placement of the interior piers now needed are located towards the front of the home interior cross beams meaning that if we just adjust the original exterior piers across the front of the home "without" installing the new interior piers, it could very possibly & or most likely place additional stress and pressure on those interior sections which can cause the slab to either bow more into the center, break interior tiling/sheetrock, & cause doors, etc. to stick and no longer close properly.  The aesthetic of it all is not the main concern rather than the fact of placing the interior slab into a structural overly stressed position to where it could possibly crack or break at that time or in the future.

After our office received the report and we called the owners to discuss the findings is where the communication became difficult between one another. Our office personnel tried to explain that more often than not, when settlement has become internally it almost always stems from the under-slab sewer lines.  When we offered to send our Master Plumber over, free of charge to perform either a hydrostatic test or camera scope test is when profanity began to be used towards us and then hanging up on us.  All we wanted to do was show both Mr. and Mrs. ***** the reasoning behind the why their home was now experiencing interior settlement.

In regard to the rear side now needing additional new exterior piers which need to be placed at the backside corners of the home is because that is where the weight load of the home rests and places pressure at.  Our representative took Compu-Level readings the day of his visit and showed the homeowners his findings of more than inch of settlement that has now occurred over the past 7.5 years since the original install date.

We are not trying to not honor our warranty work, we will and can adjust the existing exterior piers but before we can both Mr. and Mrs. ***** will have to sign a waiver placing no liability to our company resulting from the adjustment.  Our firm does not like to do this because our mission, longevity in business and goal has always been to perform and provide the best service possible for all the homes we place our piers under. Doing work to create further harm is not what is best for anyone's slab foundation and goes against the values of Allied Foundation.

If Mr. and Mrs. ***** will allow it; we would still honor and send out our Master Plumbers RMP-*****, to investigate the settlement now towards the interior plus it goes against our company policy to NOT perform a Hydro or Camera test if we find interior settlement before we adjust exterior piers so we can ensure that we do not break or cause further damage to the under slab sewer system and risk the integrity of the slab foundation.

Either way, we request to see an inspection report from whomever the owners want to use to perform the plumbing test or allow us to provide this test before a crew is sent out to make any adjustments moving forward.  If there is an issue with the plumbing that is underneath the foundation, then that will have to be addressed first or the owners will need to sign a waiver of no harm/liability towards our company before any plan of action can be taken.

We write this response with complete respect and stand behind our professional opinion.  Allied honors all pier placement in the locations they have been placed once the inspection process and clearance of the plan of action.

    Hello,

I would like if myself, JaBriska ******* and my Project Manager, Mr. Pete ***** can make an appointment to come out ourselves and visit with the homeowners.  I have over 30 years of foundation experience and I am also the owner's daughter here at the company, so I am able to make executive decisions onsite.  May we please have the opportunity to perform this task?  We can come out next Friday August 4th, 2023 @ 1 pm.  Please let me know if this is acceptable.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

    Best,

    Good afternoon BBB,

This past Monday 7/31/2023, my Project Manager and I went to go see Mr. Terry ***** at his residence to perform an inspection of his home and of our previous work installed.  At this time, we have a general plan of action that Mr. Terry ***** would like for us to move forward with and so we will wait for the completion of the work we have agreed on and allow Mr. ***** the opportunity to inform the BBB of his experience and outcome of completed work opinion.

Just wanted to respond with an update that you can cross check with the homeowner for verification on as well.  We will also be performing a hydrostatic to test the current condition of the under-slab sewer/water lines prior to performing our adjustments.

    Respectfully,

    Good afternoon,

This is a follow up to the original complaint made on 6/27/23.  We have gone out to reinspect the home and made arrangements to meet with the homeowner, Mr. Terry *****.  On that visit our team and Mr. ***** agreed to a plan of action to provide repairs for Thursday August 17, 2023, which is today. Prior to this repair date we scheduled and provided a Hydrostatic Ball Test to see if any leaks were taking place beneath the foundation regarding the waste lines/sewer lines.  No leaks were found so then we proceeded with giving Mr. ***** a repair date.

Our crews are at the home now, today as we communicate here providing the agreed upon repair work which falls completely under our warranty.  Please reach out to the homeowners Mr. Terry ***** or Mrs. Renee ***** to verify all our recent communications to the BBB of the updated progress.  We will ask the *****s to provide an updated response of their own accounts once our work has been completed for them today.
