On January 29, 2024 I went into ******* store #***** and purchased over $100 with of items including several different medication due to the fact I was extremely sick. This was at 9:54 am. I went to my hauler and took the just bought medicine and started to run a high fever. I laid down to try and break the fever. A few times i got up to try and leave but felt awful. I took my dog out a few times in this process only to feel even worse. I laid back down falling asleep deeply. I woke roughly around 11ish pm was trying to gather myself up to leave the parking lot and back to the secured lot I had been staying at for the week. During this time around 11:20ish a boot was placed on my hauler followed by a knock on the door with a demand to pay a $300 or be towed. I tried to show the agent the receipt where I had bought medication that morning and that I was extremely sick and had no intention of staying over night in the parking lot. I was told more less it was not his problem. Being sick not feeling well I paid the ticket. We call the store the next day to explain and try to get our money refunded only to be told they would look into it but was out of their hands due to 3rd party hiring. But stated had I came back in and explained I was sick and was going to be in the parking lot for a while he could have approved it. We contacted the ticketing company by phone as ******** email supplied the receipt from ******* and explained the issue and what the ****** from ******* stated. After a week I contacted *************************** back for a follow up. This took a few days to make contact with her only to be told they spoke with the management that they said had a different story and they could not do anything. ******* reexplained everything to her and who she spoke with at the store, which ******* stated that was not who she spoke with. She said she would contact the store again and let ******* know. We have yet to hear back from anyone in this matter.Business response

This person was parked in a Wal-mart parking lot that we have a service agreement with to tow/boot vehicles. I am understanding that he did go in and by medication at 9:54am and was booted 13 hours later at 11:40pm. I have spoken to the District Manager with Wal-Mart and the charges stand as they are. I understand their frustration on this matter. I did reply to this when the complaint came across the first time. I don't know what else to tell her.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because: The next day after this happened ******* spoke with a person that presented himself as the manager, his name was ******. At which time he stated he would review this matter 1st and for most then followed up with had I came back into store that day and found him and explained what was going on he would have approved him to stay in the parking lot. Problem was I was extremely sick and since Covid I do not expose myself to other when I am sick. Bad enough I had to even enter the store the 1st time. Now NO ONE will get on the phone with me nor return my calls on this matter. The man that booted the truck was completely rude would not listen to me. I tried to explain but he just wanted the money. A bully to be honest. If the manager aka ****** could approve me staying in the parking lot why can't he over ride the charge? I have filed complaints with ******* one on this matter and the other matter of being ****** nor whom ever at that store will not call me back. When I asked what the persons name was that the towing company spoke with at ******* she would not tell. All I could get was ****** was not the person she spoke with. This towing company and ******* are bulling people and taking their money without validation. I was in the process of leaving the parking lot to go back to the secured facility where I had power, water and the piece of mind of not being harassed. I did not want to try and drive the 8 miles or so back to this location early due to I was so sick, with fever, throwing up all I wanted to was rest but was scared to drive in the traffic with my condition. So my safety and others were more important at the time but to these people they just do not care. They would have rather me risk it all and left asap. I understand parking lot parking is an issue but for God sakes slow down and listen to people when they have valid proof of purchase and clearly are sick. The communication from both parties has been extremely unprofessional, avoiding return calls or emails. I or ******* have had to push and push only to be ignored. Their actions are completely gross. This left not fixed is just show these people they can just bully people without repercussions. This matter is 100% clearly legit situation where I never should have been charged.

At the ************************* Texas, who I thought at the time was a police officer demanding that I pay the boot removal few extorted 150 dollars out of me threatening to tow my vehicle and boat. After revisiting the site this morning there are absolutely no signs that say no parking. Not one. Even apparently like truck maps say that overnight parking is allowed. I was there for less than 1 hours and an extortion boot was placed on my vehicle with no warningBusiness response

As per our service agreement with the ******* on *******************, Vehicles parked there after the store is closed are supposed to be either towed or booted. I understand your frustration. The store closed at 11pm and your were booted at approximately 11:45pm. After 11pm you are no longer considered a patron and subject to either being booted or towed. Being booted is substantially cheaper than being towed. If we had towed your vehicle along with the boat depending on the size of the vehicle and depending on the size of the boat you could have been charged for both and could have been charged upto $1000.00 dollars. I personally went through the ******* Wal-mart last night on my way home and found that there were 10 signs posted that booting and towing are enforced. They are located at every entrance to the property, Plus some posted on the light polls over by the dollar tree. Also the entrance from the Dollar Tree going into the Wal-mart parking lot there is a sign. I have enclosed several pictures of the signs but did not have enough room for all the pictures that I took. Again I am sorry for your frustrastion and understand your situation. If you have any problems or concerns please feel free to call us at ************, we will be glad to answer any questions you may have.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because:instead of being decent people which is what I thought ****** were known for your employees saw an easy target. Instead of giving a warning they threw their EXTORTION boot on there and simply demanded payment under duress. What a crappy way to treat people. I saw no signs and a simple warning would have sufficed

I am writing regarding my vehicle, a 2014 ****** Rav 4, that was towed from the parking lot at *********************** on August 10, 2023 around 1:30am. I understand that my car was towed because it had been parked there for 2 days, however I have spoken with management from both Rainbow and Kroger stores and they confirmed that they did not call to have my vehicle towed. The spot where I parked my car was not in the Kroger designated parking area according to the Kroger night manager, *********. I have also discussed this situation with ******************** the owner or the lot who can corroborate that no one requested my car to be towed from that location. While I understand that my car had an "abandoned" sticker placed on it on the evening of August 8th around 10:30pm, I am unclear on who directed your company to tow my vehicle given that the business owners in that plaza confirmed they did not make that request. As I was not parked illegally and there seems to be some confusion around why my car was towed, I kindly request that you refund the $327.63 towing fee that I was charged. I would appreciate if you could investigate who called for the tow on my legally parked vehicle and provide clarification on why it was removed.I was emailed by ******************************* in response to this request and he stated he did everything he was supposed to do. The paperwork attached states that ****** initiated the tow. I was not parked in the kroger parking lot according to management.Business response

Yes we towed this vehicle on 8/10/2023. Per the contract we have with kroger this vehicle was stickered prior to being towed, as you can see in the picture that I have provided, This vehicle was considered abandoned at that point when the owner of the vehicle did not remove the car, at that point we towed it. I can see that the person who filed the complaint failed to mention that part. This tow was completed per our service agreement. If the person filing the complaint would like to speak to me I would gladly speak to them. I have also provided several no parking signs that were posted around the area the complaintant parked. Please let me know if there is anything else that I need to do. Thank you.
