I have called 3 times and all 3 times each person was so rude and very unhelpful. They rejected my bank account and didn't tell me why. Even when I tried paying on time twice. I have to call each time I want a payment done. What is the point of having online if you have to call every month. Horrible company I wish I would've known about these reviews before I signed up. Lora was horrible and the other women are too. If you don't like your job find another one! This company's help was useless! I'm glad this is a new policy so I don't feel like I lost much.Review from Monica G

All i will say try everyone else before you do a life policy with this company. Access to online information and getting good customer service from the branch office is very difficult. The website is always having technical problems and you cannot access any of your policy infomation.Review from Crystal D

I had hail damage to my property first home owners claim in over 20 years; they put us on some schedule that weren’t told about and would only cover 27% of the cost. My claims person won’t return my calls or answer my email!!!

STOP! TURN AROUND A RUN FROM THIS COMPANY! Terrible company that shouldn't be allowed to operate as an insurance company when they are clearly just crooks stealing from anyone who signs up with them. Their coverage is the worst in the industry. They will screw you any chance they can by not covering their policy you pay for. Avoid this company at all costs!! I've been a customer for 30 years, never missed a premium, but when it comes time to use the policy they will not hold up their side of it and fix the storm damage to my house. They also changed my policy without my consent or knowledge. Worst insurance company around.American National Insurance Company Response

I had a hail claim and they were only willing to pay half of the damage. I had multiple different quotes, all double what American National said they were paying. I'm going to be dropping 6 policies I have with them. It's not worth paying a cheap company for cheap results. Thank goodness it wasn't my house! I could only imagine receiving half value for it. I'll be moving to a more reputable company.American National Insurance Company Response

sorry company takes your money and dont hold up to agreement; lost over 6000 in annuity because they did not send papers to be filled out and sent back .got papers two weeks after date so they charge me a surrender fee that was their fault,because papers was return not on time.2,400 dollars fee then they charge a market drop fee 0f 4000 dolllars when i wanted my money so out of 6years i made4 dollars.in 6years of them having my money.would tell they everyone they are crooks stealing money from old people like me; they lie and make it you fault so they take your moneyReview from Susan B

This company has increased my premium from $200 a quarter to $186 a month, now they want more! Paid over $24000 over the years when I made my late payment in January nowhere did it say I had and increase pr pending termination, yet they took the payment and sent me a letter my policy has been terminated! Been over a month of going back and forth, emails take longer than a week! Had to fill out medical form and sent it then they said I didn't initial changes!! No one calls you or emails you what you need to do, I have to call again! Going to talk to ******* Insurance commissioner and/or attorney. It would be better to start young and save money than to trust Greedy insurance companies, especially American National!Review from Erica M

Communication is awful. I’ve called and left messages with messages with my adjuster. She never returns call. Left message with her supervisor also a no call back. Is this even a real business?!? At this point I feel the entire company is a money hungry scam. Wish I could leave no stars.Review from Robert S

Blood-sucking *******! Doubled our HO policy after 3 years with no claims. What's even better is in two months they will pay out the "cash-back" reward for no claims for 3 years. It's more like charging me double the reward so they can reward themselves.Review from Reece H

First time homebuyer in 2016. Previous homeowner never had the roof replaced. Roof damaged by wind in 2023. Deductible $3,000. Never filed a claim before. Insurance will not cover it due to age (depreciation). The "actual cash value" according to them is less than my deductible. Estimated cost for a new roof $10,000. This is predatory.
