    Hello,My name is ************ Deep, and I am a graduate student attending ******************************************. I am writing because I have a complaint against an apartment housing business here in **********. The name of the business is Pines Apartment Homes. I am looking for a larger apartment than the one I currently have, and I went there to see apartments they have available. The first time I was there, a very polite woman took me to see an apartment she said was available. She told me the manager would call me later to give more information. When the manager called, he was very rude and told me to live somewhere else. He then hung up the phone. I went with a friend of mine to try to figure out what had happened because I was very confused. When we arrived, the manager whose name I did not get continued to be very rude to me. He told me I would have to leave a $2000 deposit for the apartment. Their rule is a $250 deposit, but he told me I would have to pay $2000, and then he once again told me to go somewhere else and refused to rent the apartment to me. He also became physically aggressive and imposing. I did nothing to provoke him, so the only thing I can think is that his behavior was based on my race. I would like to file a formal complaint about this. Can you give me more information on what I need to do? I appreciate your help. Thank you for your attention to this matter.Best,Deep

    Dear BBB,

     I am rejecting this response because:

     I have read the response from the manager of the Pines Apartment Buildings, and he simply is not telling the truth. When he first called, he told me it would $580 total for the deposit. I asked him politely if he would give ** a discount since both my wife and I are ****************************************** students. He became agitated at that point and said that they don't give discounts, then he said that he was going throw away my application because they don't do discounts. Then he rudely told me to go somewhere else, that he was not going to rent to me. Even when I said I would pay the amount he initially told me, he said he would not rent to me. I did not lie on my application, and that was not the reason he gave me for not renting to me. I have and can provide sufficient evidence that this is how the conversation went. Additionally, there have been other complaints about this exact problem with this manager at this apartment building complex. I also have a witness to the conversation I had with him at the complex. They will be happy to provide an account of what was said.
