    This company sold out to another company without reporting it to me. I had automatic payments set up with this company as well for my power and all my bills. I was informed yesterday when I notified this company about my power outage. The lady on the phone had said that they no longer service me and to contact Reliant. So instead of informing me prior too they allowed my electric to be turned off in hot weather. I have children and pets in the house and did not realize the power was off until after 7pm. My house was hot, the weather is 90 degrees plus outside and my pets could have possibly died. This company is lucky that did not happen or I would be getting a lawyer. They really need to issue an apology for not doing their job and notifying the public of any changes. Just like when I had a water leak and they charged me 1800 in 2 months, just taking my money and not informing me of any problems. This company is a failure.

    The **** of Lubbock made the decision to move the electric service provided by Lubbock Power and Light (LP&L) to retail competition to provide the citizens of Lubbock a choice for their electric service provider. Lubbock Power and Light (LP&L) spent 7+ years updating the electric infrastructure and building out its power lines in order to connect to the ***** power grid and enter the deregulated ***** market. The final work to this end was completed in 2023. LP&L is still a department of the **** of Lubbock and remains as the entity that provides the power lines and metering infrastructure for its citizens.LP&L began a huge media campaign in early 2023 to inform the public of the upcoming changes with newspaper articles, television and radio interviews and news stories, town hall meetings across the city, bill inserts in each customer's **** of ********************** Utilities bill, and on social media platforms. Shopping fairs were held in January and February, 2024, at the Lubbock *********************, to allow all customers to have the opportunity to pick their new electric provider in person. Media coverage was extensive. For those customers who did not chose a new electric provider within the 60 days shopping window, a random assignment of a new electric provider was made, a post card was sent to these customer to advise them of which electric provider was assigned to provide electric service, and the new electric provider mailed the customer a welcome packet. All new electric providers began to provide and to bill electric service to all former LP&L customers in April of ******** **** of ********************** continues to bill its citizens for the **** services of water, waste water, solid waste, and storm water. Citizens receive their **** of Lubbock Utilities bills just the same as before. The difference now is there is no electric service included on the bill. It is my sincere hope that this helps the reviewer to understand that **** of Lubbock Utilities went to great lengths to inform its customers of the move of the electric service from LP&L to the competitive market to provide them with the power to choose.On behalf of LP&L and **** of Lubbock Utilities, I do apologize for the frustration you feel.

    This company continues to inflate prices. Now that I am no longer using them for electricity. My TxU is bill is a third of the price. Where has all my money been going all these years. I think an investigation is warranted.

    City of Lubbock Utilities should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. They have a monopoly over power and water utilities on the southside of Lubbock until the end of 2023. I bought a house in March and my electricity and water bill which come together has steadily gone up per month now at almost $700 bill this month. (July 2022) when I called to discuss the charges the lady on the other end of the line just kept reiterating it's the amount of usage then proceeded to tell me that I shouldn't water daily (which I don't) cut down on my shower usage and that I should keep my thermostat between 78 and 82° even when the temperature is outside or above 105°. Lubbock needs to do away with Lubbock utilities and allow other providers to come in so we can be charged appropriately and have fair pricing and be able to afford our bill. $700+ for utilities for one month is absolute insanity. Lubbock We have to do better. As a single income person this is not within a regular budget for monthly utilities. If I fail to pay this on time they take away the MANDATORY DEPOSIT They made me pay even though I have excellent credit and references for 5 years electric and water service from Reliant energy and City of Lamesa water.
    I'm shocked, sickened, and upset about this.

    Terrible in every sense of the word!
    Treat their "customers" like pure garbage. They've monopolized the power market in the city & constantly/whimsically raise their prices ungodly high. CANNOT do anything but pay a bill remotely. They make it IMPOSSIBLE to contact anyone for any reason.

    I have been on hold for an hour with LP&L , because our lease states we have to use them for electric, but they had me on hold till close. How am I supposed to start an account with them if they don't even answer calls or help with any questions? Something needs to be done about this.

    LP&L elec co. Needs to stop with these prices. I can't even afford elec services what do I do. Do I eat or pay the bill, they don't work with you. Customer service? Needs retraining from a pro. Look some of us are poor & still work struggling to make it day to day, the women there they see you they automatically think they are better than you, they ask for lease you take it to them & still 72 hour wait that is stupid it's an electric company not the white house!! LP&L needs to stop their crap why can't they help people that's why everyday someone is trying to work around how to get lights it's ridiculous. We all need a little help! Those of you at this electric company y'all need to quit with your nose in the air bcuz I'll tell you to your face by far are you any better than me, just I don't depend on a husband I'm independent like the company was told before STOP THE MONOPOLY Well they are doing it again! I won't give them a dime. SPEC I love them they have heart, LP&L just so you know y'all are worthless uncaring thieves I can't stand anyone associated with you!
