January 26,2023 We scheduled a tasting with Pouring Events for our March 18,2023 wedding. We agreed to pay $105 for the tasting. If the tasting led to a booking, 50 percent of the $105 fee would be applied to the total catering bill. We chose not to proceed because the food was terrible and the tasting was incomplete. Several items were partially prepared and one item ( the guacamole tostada) was missing completely. Pouring Events had us meet at ********* for the tasting. February 1, 2023 We received an invoice for the following:01/26/2023 Wedding Tasting$105.00T 1 X $105.00 01/26/2023 Servicing Fee$18.90 1 X $18.90 Subtotal$123.90 Tax$8.66 Total$132.56 Balance due$132.56 We responded immediately with the following : ---- On Wed, 01 Feb 2023 11:57:41 ***** <****************************> wrote ---*****: We agreed to $105. Please revise the invoice and we will pay promptly. ***** and ********************* responded :Just as it would be on the final invoice for you if had moved forward, there would have the Service Fee and Taxes. Best Regards,*********************** Founder/CEO O - ************ Also, I actually only charged you 18% service fee instead of 20% which is our normal for any Catering. Best Regards,*********************** Founder/CEO O - ************ C - ************ ************************************************************************************************************************************** we received another invoice reminder and I forwarded our 2/1 email that you see above. We received the following reply: Please be advised that you have until the 1st of March to have made the payment in full or there will be late fees and daily late charges to your account. Thank you,*********************** Founder/CEO O - ************ C - ************ I am reaching out because this business is operating unethically. There is no tax in food in ***** as far as I understand and a service fee aka tip is voluntary. I am a very fair person and we were never told there would be any additional fees. Please help.

    Business response

    Hi there,

    *************** to this complaint.

As you will see in the attached documents, the real email thread without any changes or added notes to the full correspondence.

As for the Slander of stating that we are operating "Unethically" please take not of the other attachments were we are in full compliance with the ***** law regarding taxes!

SECTION 3.293. Section K(1) - Regarding Catering Company & taxes.

As to address the Service Fee and Tip Statement.  Our Service fees that we charge are there to help cover our Overhead Cost.  So therefor, there was never a request for a tip nor was one implied.  I did remove the Service Fee so that the client would just pay the invoice and I would be able to get them off my books.  I sent a reminder, so to avoid them being  late fees.

Another thing the Client failed to mention was that they could only afford in their budget to split one tasting, so I did so.  Which is against our Policy, but I did it anyway because for they had seemed like genuine people.

When it came down to the day of the tasting The clients were very happy with the food for as that were their words during the tasting.  So I am confused as to why now the food tasted terrible and still don't know what items were not completely there during the tasting.  I do know that there was an item missing, that was added last minute and we had addressed that there at the table and they had seemed totally ok with that and so we had moved on.

At this point we no longer want to business with this client, so going forward we will not be pursing payment for the agreed upon tasting.  Instead we are going to take this a learning experience and grow from it.  If there needs to be documentation of this I will be more than glad to do so after the Accountant has done the necessary steps in taking care of said invoice.

Please let me know if there is any additional information needed.

    Thank you,

    ***********************
