Same story as others already listed. They sent a bill 3 years after surgery for a PA who was out of network. I met with his staff about the upcoming surgery and the costs involved. My Doctor and Hospital were in network. I was given an estimated cost for my responsibility. I was never told that there would be an outside vendor/PA. For me to verify a vendor prior to surgery, I would need to know that there would be an outside vendor and I would need their contact information. Shortly after surgery, I received my bills for the various entities such as the surgeon, the anesthesiologist and the hospital. I promptly paid my portion to each entity. Three and a half years later, I received a bill for a Physician’s Assistant (PA). This is the first time I learned that a PA was present during the surgery. This is the first bill I have received from this PA. The office of the PA, Xcite Surgical, L.L.C. states that they have sent me several bills and have called and left voice messages. I have no record of a bill or a voice message. They state that I owe them $750 for the PA’s service. A point of interest and concern is that my portion of the bill for the PA is more than for the surgeon, the anesthesiologist or the hospital. This late billing, long after the surgery, seems very unusual and exorbitant. They are threatening to send the bill to collections. Since I was not notified of a PA being present and I was not given information to contact the PA prior to surgery to inquire about possible coverage or charges, I do not feel it is justified to bill me three and a half years after the procedure and for an amount more than was paid to the surgeon and anesthesiologist

Same story as those already listed. Surgery Nov. 2021. Didn't receive bill from Xcite until May 2022. Their "assistant" to my surgeon was out of network. How did I know this? Never would have approved. $666 for the assistant was waayyy more than I paid for EVERYTHING else. Appealed through insurance - and was denied. Now trying to get a receipt from Xcite after paying the bill. Nothing yet. Even left a voicemail. NOT HAPPY!

My insurance was also billed $18000 for a PA in the OR. The bill was sent to me 7 months after my surgery.(all my surgical bills already paid. I was told ALK providers in this company are out of network! . My insurance paid $65.00 and I received a bill for $685. I has no idea a PA was even in the OR for my case. I intend on filing an OIG complaint. Also, I am considering reporting the PA to the TX Medical Board for waste, fraud, abuse and unethical business practice. I hope others will do the same. This UNETHICAL practice needs to stop!
