My car was towed in April of 2023. I could not afford to get the vehicle out of impound and it was sold at auction. I never received any written notice from ******'s indicating the charges for the vehicle impoundment and storage or a tow ticket. When I asked for this documentation, I was told no, because I hadn't paid for the release of the vehicle. TDLRs website indicates I am entitled to an itemized receipt from the ****

Thank you for the opportunity to respond, I am not pulling up a customer with this name but before a vehicle is sold at auction we do notify the registered owners and any lien holders at the address provided by the state dmv. When it comes to a receipt we can not provide and receipt for a service that was never paid for, receipts are given upon the time the vehicle is paid for and picked up.

    Thank you

    Complaint: 21895623

I am rejecting this response because:
I didn't have thousands of dollars to get my car out of impound but I was allowed to come retrieve items from the vehicle as the owner so it's my understanding based on TDLR regulations I am entitled to a tow ticket with an explanation of charges, regardless of whether or not i can afford to get my car out of impound. Having the financial means to get the vehicle released doesn't make me any more or less the owner of the car. Not having enough money doesn't mean you don't still have an obligation to provide the same information that would be provided to me if I had the money. Using money as a way to deny an owner access to information about their vehicle is discrimination, if you can use money who's to say you can't use other factors outside a person's control like sexual orientation, race, where they work or if they work...I proved I was the owner of that car. I'm asking for information you were supposed to have already provided me when you towed the car and I proved I was the owner and was allowed access to the car... and failed to do so. It's not unreasonable. If your vehicle was taken and sold to someone else, you think you'd be fine with being told you don't even get a copy of a record if it for tax purposes, etc.? That's ridiculous. You'd be livid.

    Regards,

Once again I still do not know which vehicle this pertains, yes we do allow individuals that are the owners or other with proper documentation to get items out of the vehicle at no charge.
I understand your frustration but at this point I can not provide you with a receipt of something you did not pay for, when vehicles are towed we do give a tow info slip either in person or electronic depending when this vehicle was towed and that is approved by TDLR as we have provided them with our documents on other tows in the past.

thank you and have a blessed day
