    I have just had a horrible experience with Columbia Gas which has been costly. I am a widow on a fixed income in *******************. Last spring, since my heating bills had been very high they recommended I might save money by changing my supplier to VA Light and Power, but they would remain my gas company, for billing, delivrery etc. Then it was summer so my bills were low but now that it is getting colder I have received two outrageous bills from them, $571 for November and now $1290 for last month! For just gas for one month! There are no problems with my furnace or amount I used or any leaks. When I called about six weeks to to change it back to Columbia for my supply they said OK but it would take a month or two and then that was when they sent the newest bill for $1290. I had paid the 571 one, felt I had had no choice. I have good credit and don't want to change that. Over and over I have called them and complained but got nowhere, the say "YOU CHOSE THAT", as if they were't the ones who recommended it to me! They must have known about the exorbitant prices when they told me about it.This should be a warning to anyone dealing with them.

    Impossible to let them know to shut off service. NOBODY IS ANSWERING THEIR PHONES. You get routed around and then hung up. Could never set up an online account - website was broken. Tried MULTIPLE TIMES to terminate service but have a job so can't sit on phone all day waiting for a breathing body to answer. So then I get a bill for 100+ dollars for service 3 weeks after I moved.Gotta pay it or they'll wreck my credit!

    The absolute most horrible customer service! They replaced a meter at my home and then began to hike their monthly payments to make up for what they "should've" been receiving. The bill became exorbitant, and then they refused to accept large payments once it had been shut off-requesting thousands in full. My wife and I are elderly, and the heat was cut off during the winter. Horrible company.

    Absolutely the WORST customer service I've ever experienced! If it were possible, on a scale of 1 to 5, I would rate Columbia Gas a -10. It is literally impossible to pay your bill on the web. You must pay by phone and it takes at least 10 separate inputs to do it, including punching in a 15-digit account number. This company is something out of the dark ages. If it were not a monopoly, there is no way it could survive as a company.
