    On January 1, 2024, I was treated by a dentist in Dr. Hayes' practice. The dental care was excellent. When checking out, I was told that my share of the cost after insurance was $189.00 which I paid with my **********. On January 10, 2024, I checked my EOB from my insurance company, and it stated that they paid Dr. Hayes $176, leaving my share at $13.00. I went to Dr. Hayes' office on January 15 and the office manager confirmed that I had a credit of $176.00. I asked when I would receive payment for the credit and was told that they cut checks quarterly for over payment and did not know when I would receive my money. She took my name and offered to look into the matter for me. On January 18, I returned to the office and was told that they did not know when I would receive my payment. That they paid patient's credit balances about quarterly whenever the doctor felt like it. I am 69 years old and live on a fixed income. $176.00 is a lot of money to me. It seems unreasonable to ask a patient to pay an estimated amount when service is received but if the patient is over charge, the dentist will issue the credit "sometime".
