I bought a 2010 GMC Terrain and on April 26, 2024 I took the car to Jaday Auto Service. When I took the car in I was told that the vehicle needed to change the car valves, “sentar las válvulas del carro”, which I was originally charged $2200 but was told that if I paid $2000 by the day the car was ready he would discount the rest. I agreed & the original timeframe for the expected work was 2 weeks. I received the car in the original stated time on May 15th, 2024. However the vehicle was returned with a check engine when I took the car and I asked why and he said he was going to take it off to take in the next day. I did that the next 2 days of which he was not able to remove the check engine light. On the second day the car started turning off when stopped at a light & the smell of gas and oil, in addition to windows not working, damages to the outside and inside of the vehicle. I immediately took it back to the shop the next day & left the vehicle. He said he was going to change the gaskets b/c that was the issue. He said this was going to be ready by June 26th, 2024 at which time he has yet to return the car. He has told me that I am not to worry that the car will get fixed b/c his work has 3 months warranty and that the work was covered even if it takes him a year. The 26th I stopped by and he said that I should not worry & that he is going to fix it but does not give me a date. Since that day I am now trying to contact the auto shop and they are not answering. I have yet to have the car serviced adequately. I am no longer confident that he is adequately fixing the issue & that he has not damaged the motor as well as additional damage to the exterior and interior of the car.

As stated i the customer's complaint, repairs on the vehicle were completed on 5/15/2024. There was absolutely no "check engine" light on upon completion. We do not return vehicles with a check engine light on. Furthermore, the customer would have returned the vehicle immediately after seeing that the check engine light was on. As stated, this is a used 2010 GMC Terrain which the customer purchased in "as is" condition. On May 18, 2024, the customer stopped by my shop to thank me after returning back from his road trip to ********** *** driving this same vehicle. He was really happy with the work that was done; no mention of any interior or exterior damage to the vehicle then. If the check engine light was displayed after that, then it is not my responsibility to repair the vehicle especially after he took a road trip with it. It is inaccurate and unfair for the customer to blame any additional repair needs on me or my staff. However, as a courtesy and my guarantee of adequate services provided, I offered to look at the vehicle again to assess what other repairs need to be done. I identified the additional parts that need to be ordered. I ordered them but they were on backorder then. Since then, I have received the parts which are belt kits and have communicated to the customer that the vehicle will be ready for pick up on 7/18/2024. The claims of vehicle damage caused to the exterior of the vehicle cannot be proven to have been caused at my shop by myself or any staff member. With regard to a rental or "lending" vehicle, I do not offer that service nor was it ever insinuated that I did. I do not any other vehicle(s) readily available for any customer to use while a vehicle is being repaired. The customer is not entitled to the $2,000.00 that he is claiming as this was the cost of repairs already completed in May 2024; and the customer drove the vehicle for over a month before he returned with it back to my shop for additional repairs. Also, the customer has previously called me after normal hours (after 10:00pm). I am not available for any service calls at that time.
