In March 2021 we hired *** contractors to renovate our kitchen. They did an OK job with a few mistakes, and we were fairly satisfied. **** said the work was guaranteed for one year. Within one month one of the drawers had an issue closing and one of the light fixtures under the cabinet quit working. Additionally when the contractors moved the refrigerator into the kitchen they marred the floors that had just been refinished. I communicated with **** on the phone and through text for the next nine months and he said he would make it right. After about nine months he stopped answering my phone calls or responding to my texts. While I was frustrated I had pretty much decided to let the issue go rather than try to pursue any resolution. Then last night (October 2, 2022) my husband was cooking dinner and we heard a very strange sound coming from the basement. When he went down to investigate he was alarmed to see that the junction box where the stove had been attached was on fire. We quickly got our fire extinguisher and put it out and then called the fire department. *************** investigated the area to let us know that it was safe to stay in the house and used a powerful fan to eliminate all of the smoke . We have an electrician coming tomorrow to assess the damage and let us know what needs to be done to remedy the situation. The fire also damaged our ******* box, so they are also coming tomorrow to assess the damage. The firefighters reported that the wrong wires were used and that caused the fire in their opinion however we have not received their report yet. I would like help getting in touch with **** as he does not respond to any attempts that I have made to contact him in the last three months. I would like for him to pay for the repair as well as the other issues that we will need to hire someone else to fix.
