My son had taken his car to Langway for Body work because someone drove into the drivers side of his 2018 ********** Beetle. It was around November 2023. They were going to call us when the parts were here. We checked in a couple times the next few months. Nothing yet. Finally around July/Aug 2024 I brought it in to have some other things checks and to get started on the body work. The insurance was paying for the body work to the drivers side, I asked for them to also check: the exhaust as it was very loud, gas tank wasnt opening, A/C wasnt blowing cold air, the passenger window wouldnt go down when the top was put down and it needed an oil change and inspection. When I get the car back finally in December the body was fixed, gas tank was fixed, the A/C seems to work but its so cold out I cant totally tell, they fixed the exhaust. The passenger window was NOT fixed after they said it was and now a new problem. The driver window isnt in correctly installed because you can hear air coming through it and there is a black line that shows how far it needs to go up and you can clearly see it. So I bring it back to have the windows checked yet again and also to see if the oil was in fact changed as they did not put a new sticker on the car. They had the car the whole day and when I went to pick it up Nothing was fixed and they charged me another $143 on top of the almost $5,000 I already paid. This place is terrible. They told me when I picked it up the first time that they did a complimentary cleaning because it was there so long. You should see the inside! Not cleaned at all. So I do NOT trust this place at all. The skid plate or whatever its called on the part by the drivers door is not what was there and all we want is it to all look the same like when we brought it in. We are asking for money back because things werent fixed that they said was and then to charge me again and if I didnt pay I couldnt take the car. I need advice on what to do.

    Business response

    01/27/2025

    Good Morning,

In response to the above complaint:

There was a delay in the original repair after the body estimate, as the door for that model, was on backorder and still currently is through the manufacturer. We had to find an alternated source to help get the customer repaired faster.

In reviewing the information in this case, on 1/23/25 the findings of the tech regarding the ** window regulator failing, was not an original issue from previous diagnosis. The original issues was that the window would not drop the three inches programmed when opening the top. The regulator has since failed and the window will not open  fully when activated manually .  This was the basis of the diagnosis fee she paid on 1/23/25

The oil change was completed originally as requested, I'm assuming we did not attach a sticker, but is was billed on *****, and the tech verified as such, so we attached a new sticker. Id be happy to refund the oil change price for satisfaction.

The wind noise on the ** window was not verified by the technician as a fault, but he suggested a possible remedy, though as convertibles are prone to wind noise, we cannot guarantee. I would be happy to offer a discount on this operation if it would satisfy the customer.

We did a basic cleaning on the vehicle at time of pick up from time of repair, but not a full detail. In the hope of good will, I would be happy to offer one full detail service to appease the customer.

Regarding the entry kickplate, the design has been changed slightly by the manufacturer, so they do not match left to right exactly. The right side could be replaced with a new part, to match for satisfaction, Id be happy to discount this part for satisfaction.

As of this email date, **** ********* has not technically paid the $141.26, as the check she had written, was returned by the bank for insufficient funds. We are disheartened by this as this is the second returned check we have has from her. The first was for $2000 when she picked up her sons vehicle. We happily worked with he and charged no fees on the first returned check.

To clarify the direction of pay for the check for insurance check was sent to the vehicle owner, so we did not receive payment from the insurance company for the body repairs.

Please let us know what we can do further.
