I went to Smokey Point Animal Hospital which resulted in a traumatic, inhuman and truly atrocious euthanasia of my beloved dog, ****. I brought **** in due to his pericardial effusion caused by the left atrial rupture. Dr. *** confirmed that, "It sounds very slushy in there. Without even prepping my dog properly, he immediately injected the sedative and just left the room. I was alone with **** for a couple of minutes and as soon as **** became officially sedated, he began convulsing and choking on the fluid in his lungs. I had to then run to go find a vet to take my pet out of his misery and Dr. *** says, oh, is he choking, acknowledging that this is what happens to dogs with this condition and leisurely comes into the room. While my dog is convulsing and choking, I am trying my best to hold his head up. Leisurely, the vet walks in, ****** his leg and puts on the tourniquet for the injection of the Pink Juice. My dog was not prepared to receive the second shot as soon as he was sedated. Dr. *** didnt even have the second shot prepared before sedating my dog. Without any other words, he listened to ***** heart to make sure he was gone and looked at me and said, you can pick up his ashes next week, you can take that blanket back we dont need it then took my dog to the back like a bag of meat. It was the most impersonal, inhumane, botched and torturous euthanasia that I have ever witnessed, which eliminated the whole reason I brought my dog in when I did in the first place. I have been party to dozens of euthanasians and this event will forever change how I trust veterinarians and will have the lasting horrifying memory of my beloved dog. This veterinarian deliberately tortured my dog and traumatized me deliberately and carelessly. This man should not go anywhere near someone's pets. It would have been more humane to take my dog behind the building and put a bullet in him than how this vet euthanized him.
