The driver of the tow truck while parking my car at its destination backed over a curb really aggressively and got my cars rear bumper stuck on that curb. He then moved it off the curb tearing something from the underneath of my rear bumper (this piece is now hanging it is large like an engine shield but it's by the rear bumper) the driver then denied liability and became hostile while telling me to call the police. He then kept his meter of 375$ an hour going while we waited for the police. Total scam artists. No care for your property

My vehicle (**** Jeep Grand Cherokee) was towed by Superior Towing to their lot in Bellevue, after an accident on 10/26/21. A week later I went to retrieve items from the car and noticed the glove box was open, my owner's manual was missing, and several things were strewn about the car. I collected the items that were there and left. The next day I called Superior Towing and was transferred to a manager, JP. I asked if it was procedure to collect owner's manuals for some reason and he said it was not. As I started unpacking the items I had brought home from the vehicle, I noticed many other things were missing. A Jeep bag which held a toolbox, jumper cables, antifreeze, etc.; sunglasses; bear spray; escape tool; other. I called the shop and explained items were missing. I was given JP's email address and asked to email him a list of the items, which I did. I didn't get a response. Several days later I called the shop again and was told a manager would call me back. I received no callback.A couple days later, I filed a police report with the ********************* After not hearing anything regarding the report, I called the police department and was given the email for the officer who had the case. I emailed him about status and received a response asking if I wanted them to interview Superior Towing. I responded with a yes. Later, I received a response from *************** that they had spoken with JP and he had said they'd been experiencing higher than usual car prowls and that he remembered a gold Jeep in the lot, but didn't have any information about the theft. After this, I emailed JP asking for his company's insurance information so I could file a claim. I never heard back.I am making complaint to the BBB as I believe, given my vehicle was in Superior Towing's possession at the time my items went missing, that they should be liable.I have full notes and items list, if needed.****

We spoke to this customer several times and were not able to come to a resolution.  The items that he describes missing have little to no value and may have been in the car at the time of the accident and could have been thrown under the seats or anywhere else inside the vehicle.  Since the R/O was here one time and only noticed items missing after going home maybe if he had come back and done a more thorough job of checking the vehicle he may have found some or all of his missing items.  I have no way of proving that the items that are missing were ever in the vehicle to begin with or how they disappeared.  If the R/O has insurance on this vehicle he is more than welcome to file a claim with his insurance.  Thank you.

I am rejecting this response because:

I only had one conversation with the manager of Superior Towing to alert him that I was missing the owners manual for my Jeep.  Subsequent attempts to speak with or get responses to any emails about the additional missing items, went unanswered.  Even after filing a report with the *************** which resulted in a conversation between them and the Superior Towing manager, I still received no follow-up.
Though the items missing may not have a high dollar value, approx.$600, they still have to be replaced at the R/Os expense.  Insurance that would ordinarily cover a loss like this has a deductible which exceeds the value of the loss.  I would also expect that when a towing company takes possession of a vehicle, they become responsible for not just the vehicle, but any items contained within.
When I arrived to pick up the items that were left in the vehicle at the time of the accident, the glove box was open, and several things were laying out on the seats.  Thats when I noticed the owners manual missing.  I did a thorough inspection of every nook and cranny and storage compartment to ensure I got everything.  The only thing left behind was a half bag of open peanuts in the center console.  I have a long and specific list of the items that are missing, and receipts for some of those things.  I shared the majority of that list with Superior Towing via email, but again, received no response.
I took many pictures of my Jeep after the accident for evidence prior to the tow.  I didnt think I would need an inventory of the items left in the vehicle as well.  Its very disappointing to have an experience like this on top of all the other things associated with recovery after an accident.

    Sincerely,
