This involves the movement and set-up of a 2019 Goldenwest manufactured home - doublewide. The home was purchased in ********** at the end 2020. It sat for several months as it was impossible to find anyone to tear down and move it. Finally in November of 2022 *** Reeves referred me to a contractor by the name of "*****" to dismantle the home. Which he did and I paid him $7000 a few days after his completion. The home then sat for another month and a half while I waited for a mover. Finally *** Reeves said he could do it. He delivered the house to ********************************************** on 1/13/23 and I paid him $15,500. He came back on 1/18/2023 to set the house, supports, anchors, sewer and water. There was nothing in writing about what setting included and that day his workers told me they would not reattach siding that had been torn off, because that generally was done if the owner agreed to have the inside finished by them. I found that hard to believe, almost like they made up the rules as they went and I was too foolish to ask up front for those details. To me setting a house meant putting it together and when the siding was not installed the house was not together. Then came the dispute. I asked why they had not just cut the siding right up the middle of the home, instead of tearing it off and splitting it in the process, many pieces were ruined. Had they just cut it in half the siding would still be on the home and would have only required a 1/8" narrow bead of caulk to fix it. So after they were paid $5,350 for setting the home I asked the owner, ***, why they had not just cut the siding up the middle? He said that's what he would have done, but ***** tore it off. When I called *****, he told me *** said to tear it off. I then said to *** that ***** said he was told to tear it off. Then *** said he would never have said that. So, no one wants responsibility for tearing off expensive cedar siding. I am asking for $1000 refund paid jointly.

******************** hired ***********  He made all arrangements to have the home tore down & ready for the haul of the manufactured home.  I never spoke to ********************* to the tear down.  Therefore, i never spoke to him about the siding removal.  His issues are directly with ***********  I moved & set the home only.  Interior close up was not included.  The exterior set included the roof, lagging & tiedowns.  There would have been an additional charge for custom siding.  He was not charged for re-installing siding.

I am rejecting this response because:

*** Reeves referred me to *****, *** knew ***** before I did.  ***** told me he talked to *** before or during the tear down as to whether he should tear is off or leave it and cut it up the middle, according to *****, he followed ***'s instructions to tear it off.  Now *** is denying that conversation.  *****'s phone number is ************ if you want to ask him.  If the house had been delivered with the siding attached, as most homes are, then there would be no reason to pay someone to reattach it. So, *** can pass the buck all he wants, even if I hired ***** it was based on ***'s recommendation and ***** followed ***'s orders.

    Sincerely,
