Parkland sent a notice threatening to disconnect service and assessed a late charge penalty although the payment was made timely. They failed to process the payment for **************************************************************************** the normal course of business/billpay. They do not process bills on weekends or holidays creating a further delay. They refuse to remove the late fee and want me to set a recurring payment allowing them access to my checking account which is a high risk for fraud. The finance manager is unreasonable citing their internal policy that they do not waive late fees.

A hot socket is a very dangerous occurrence that *** cause an electrical fire.  A hot socket occurred to this customer, We, the utility ********************** attempted to work with the customer to resolve the safety issue, but eventually had to disconnect electric service until customer made the necessary repairs/upgrades in order for us to safely provide electric distribution services.

At no time was a $10,000 bill assessed or suggested.
The Utility company promptly and professionally made contact with the tenant and legal owner regarding the safety hazard. The Utility company changed the electric meter at no charge and required the owner and tenant to have this hot socket replaced immediately.  They agreed.

March 10th the hot socket was noticed and a meter change occurred at no charge.  The tenant was present to see the safety hazard. The repairs the customer had to complete was explained to the tenant and we told tenant wed be happy to meet with the electrician to discuss the safety issue. They agreed they would get on the repair immediately.
March 10th a certified letter was sent to Owner.
March 12th the owner signed for the Hot Socket letter explaining the safety hazard.
May 31st owner called and was working on getting bids from electricians.
June 2nd tenant promised to have repair completed by June 7th to avoid disconnect.
June 13th disconnected and inspected new meter and it is showing signs of overheating.  Customer reconnected.
August 1st electrician and tenant said will be done by the 11th of August
August 15th final disconnect as no action was made to complete repairs

Over the course of a several months we were in contact either by phone or email to owner, tenant, and tenants electrician. We were told several dates the customer would have the repairs completed by to avoid being disconnected for non-compliance of resolution to a safety hazard.  Finally, at or on July 11th the tenant had the service conductor exposed and it was discovered that it was too shallow.  The Utility company applied and paid for a class B permit which is required to install a new service conductor to customers new electric meter base. The new line was completed at no charge to the customer on July 13th and the class B permit was signed off on August 8,2022.

The complaint to BBB is filled with mendacities and it is unfortunate that his focus is not on repairing his electric service or showing gratitude to us for identifying an issue that could have turned tragic.
