Be ware of Custom Fence. Three (3) posts ($1200) broke and needed urgent repair. The salesman said 4 weeks but will try to get there early. I called them after 4 weeks. They said we call me back. They did not!! Again 3 times. Finally, after 10 weeks they came and said I need another post ($400) and a new gate. The worker even said the gate built only one single post on the gate and it broke. It needs to add thousands of dollars of a new gate. Not only bad service but also bad fence building.Custom Fence Inc. Response

Hi ******, thanks for the feedback. For some reason your estimate did not get the clause that repairs are 6-8 weeks out due to short staffing and the amount of calls we have, which all repair quotes have. I did email you on 6/7 that we have not forgotten about you and that the significant amount of rain we had been getting had us way further behind on repairs than we had liked and that I had you squeezed back in our schedule for the week of 7/8, weather permitting. We were able to complete your repair a week sooner than expected. We understand that your expectations were not fully met and for that we are truly sorry. We appreciate your honesty in sharing your thoughts, as it helps us identify areas we can do better. Some circumstances are out of our control, and again are truly sorry for the delays.Review from Adam B

Custom Fence did a great job installing my privacy vinyl fence last week! Nothing but good things to say about this company. Quick with getting me on the schedule, keeping me updated, and the fence was installed all within a few hours. Was extremely satisfied with no mess left behind either. They showed up when they were supposed to. There was a problem with putting the fence where I wanted due to easements. They advised me to not have the gate the way I was hoping for because it would probably be a problem down the road. They worked with me to come up with a solution, It worked out so there was no additional cost. The job was done it a timely manner. They have been good to do business with.Custom Fence Inc. Response

I spent $13,000 on a fence for my dog training business from custom fence inc on 10-26-21. I hired this job out so it could be done right and be safe enough to allow my clients dogs to have some freedom and fun in a contained area. In less than 60 days, two of the sides were blown down in the wind. The posts were not strong enough and they literally just bent in half. In reaching out to the company to come fix it, I was told that wasn’t their problem and that “it doesn’t surprise me. That was a long stretch of fencing.” The most upsetting part is that they seemed to know that it would be an issue, but never thought to mention it. I would have been happy to listen to professionals advise on what supplies or design to go with to avoid such a problem but I was never once told about it. Because I dropped 13k, I don’t have money to fix it still to this day and I’ve lost an estimated 3k this past year due to not being able to rent out the yard or for my personal business use. As a business owner myself, I cannot fathom why a) a company would think it’s okay not to use their “knowledge” in their field to suggest proper design or supplies on a job that they know would likely fail. And B) right their wrong by coming back and doing it right. Now instead of me telling my clients that see this every day about who put in a beautiful fence and even righted their wrongs, I’m warning them not to go with this company and I’m hearing many of them talk about their bad experiences with them too. This is not an issue with materials or install, it was due to a high wind storm which is an act of god, that is not covered under our warranty. We did recommend reaching out to your insurance company in which you claimed you did and were paid. We were and are willing to help repair the fence due to the high wind damage, but you told one of our reps you did not want us to come out to quote you. Please don't bash us if you are not willing to be open-minded or let us try to rectify the repair. Your project was a ****************************** 2023, why are you complaining about us now? You were the one that responded that you did not want to do work with us after the initial incident.Review from Laura F

I have never had such poor service from a company! ****, the owner, took the time to personally send a nasty email that we were difficult customers. So easy to blame the customer when we tried for 7 months to get our gate back up and running. **** told us repeatedly that he would call us back the next week and NEVER EVER called back. Sorry for calling this company weekly to ask when they would take care of our non-operational gate that they installed! They finally subcontracted with a real gate company that diagnosed the problem immediately. The batteries that Custom Fence said had to be special ordered, and were back ordered, were picked up by the subcontractor at ******** The worst part is that they then wanted over $6,000 to fix the gate and we had to pay half up front. Why would anyone give this company $3,000 with absolutely no guarantee of when and if it would ever be fixed?Beware of using such a terrible company!Custom Fence Inc. Response

****,Back in May 2022 when you had first called, you were instantly made aware that we were short staffed and only had one employee that knows how to work on gate operators. Being where you are located also makes it difficult to get to your job in a timely manner, which you were also made aware. (1.5 hours away from us.) You were also told that the parts needed were on backorder. **** did not call you back because it was the same answer, we had for you each time and he was sick of being scolded at on the phone for something out of our control. We have had you on our repair list since, but needed to wait for parts to come in and coordinate it with another job up in the area. We did end up subbing this job out to a company that works directly with us, as they specifically work on these types of jobs, meaning someone could get out to you sooner. You were charged $1219.20 for batteries, travel, time, and labor. Unfortunately, after fixing the batteries, there were more issues found that needed replacement, in order to get the gate functioning again. You were quoted $4052.06 for this work. (A total of $5271.26.) For ALL jobs we complete, it is requirement to have a $0 open balance, a signed contract, and 50% down for work to be scheduled. ****** did email you on 12/15/22, that if you moved forward then, work would be estimated to be completed early 2023, as there was a 1-2 week lead time on the gate motor, and with holidays. I wish I had checked this site before we used Custom Fence Inc. A rating of F does not surprise me. Again, as stated originally, we were told that the batteries were on backorder for 5 months only to find out that they could have been simply purchased at ******** The excuse of not calling a customer back because there is nothing new to report is still very bad business. Many businesses are short handed, and that is understandable, but total lack of real communication and customer service is unacceptable. I cannot trust the word of a company that is so vague about when a project will be completed when they never follow through with things as simple as a return phone call. Calling a customer rude shows your lack of care for making customers happy. Because of Custom Fence's lack of taking care of the gate, which they were fully paid for at time of installation, other issues piled up. Not sure why it would ever be acceptable to be without an operational gate for 7 months! Why even bother to have one? Call your customers rude all you want, but it isn't a very good business plan.
