Job started on 03/06/23 and finished sometime in Jun 2023. I paid them $39,600 for labor cost to install 900sqft of tile floor and base board with shoe molding, install 48sqft tile back splash add an eight ft LVL where load wall was removed, Frame up new pantry wall and finish. Install three lights in Kitchen. Install kitchen cabinets and appliances, Gas cooktop, electric wall oven and microwave, hood vent, kitchen sink and disposal, dishwasher, and refrigerator. The job was dated to start 11/04/22. While waiting I started working on the job myself. when H & O called and said he was coming Mar the 6th I said I would need a new estimate and he agreed. H & O came and started but did not give me a new estiment. I ask again and H & O said he was working on it. H & O first estimate had all the work I had completed on it. I just had an estimate done for this. It was 16,000 for labor. I ask H & O several times for an itemizied statement for the work they had completed but never got one. I have looked up labor cost for this type of work and came up with prices from 14,000 to 18,000. H & O did supply some meterial. Sheetrock and compound $120.00, Framing $250.00, Under layment and thinset $1400.00, Paint $120.00, Electrical $150.00. duct pipe and Y fitting $50.00. Misc labor cost. $1300.00. Dump fees, gas and labor $ 640.00. The total of $20,030 . H & O gave me a statment at the end of job for $43,750.00. I complained and H & O said what price will work for you and I offered $24,600.00. H & O said no it would be $39,600.00. I ask again for an itemized statment but H & O would not give me one. I received a threat letter from a H & O lawyer after I had paid the $39,600.00. I ask again for a itemized statment and have not received one yet.. I beleive I was taken atvantage of and at the least receive a $15,000.00 refund. After wating 4 mo. for H & O to start and my wife passing I was weak at the time.

In July 2022, Mr. **** was provided with a written proposal for specific renovation work in his kitchen and main living area, including flooring work throughout and running a new gas line. Mr. **** was provided an estimate for the work of $42,400. H&O has no memory of being asked for a new quote prior to work beginning. Nor was it asked for an itemization of the work before or during the building process. The remodel began in March 2023. Prior to the start of the work, Mr. **** had limited demolition of the existing kitchen and flooring and partially started some miscellaneous electrical work and gas line work. That work that resulted in one day of time for demolition being saved.

During the remodel, Mr. **** made several requests for additional work, including in other areas of the home, that increased the overall cost of the project by several thousand dollars. H&O fully performed its obligations under the contract and the project was completed in early June 2023. Taking into account the numerous additional requests for work by Mr. **** and discounting the cost of the project for the demo work completed by Mr. ****, the overall cost of the project increased to $43,750. Mr. **** was invoiced for this amount. Mr. **** disagreed with the cost of the project and, only then, began asking for an itemization of the work. After some back and forth, H&O agreed to accept a reduced amount of $39,600 to settle the amount owed. Mr. **** paid this amount.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

[Provide details of why you are not satisfied with this resolution.]
I ask for a new estimate and was told I would get one. I took the man for his word it must not mean much to him. The work I  completed was itemized. H. And  O. must be ashamed to itemize his work. What would be so hard about giving me an itemized statement? I only ask for three items extra. 1)To lay 56sqft of vinyl floor. All prep work and underlayment was complete. 2) lift a toilet onto a wax ring. 3) add a receptacle.
Regards. All other items they ask me if I would like to have it done sense we are already there.
