I was looking for housing. Came across West Virginia Property Management. Found an apartment and was instructed to pay an application fee and then i could schedule a viewing. Before i could view the apartment they took it off the market. So why did i have to pay a 45 fee before viewing the apartment when they planned to take it off the market. West Virginia Property Management stole the fee and refuse to refund

The bottom of our application states that by completing the app, we do not owe the applicant a property. It also states that your application is good for 90 days if you miss out on your desired property. Your application can be applied to anything in our portfolio. In the specific case of this applicant, he applied and we scheduled a showing for him. He canceled his showing and in the meantime, the property leased to someone else. The rental market moves very quickly.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

They instructed me to pay the fee before i viewed the property. I should have been instructed to view the property and then pay an application fee of 45 usd. The way they do business sets people like me up and they know it. Why instruct me to pay a fee before i viewed the property?

    Regards,

May 2022 we was informed a new owner would be buying the trailer park I’ve lived in for 1.5yrs. June 1st I got a letter on my porch that was left in the rain stating there would be an up charge to my rent to $250 originally $175. In this letter it stated if anybody needed help to contact them but never informed the due dates of rent would be changing. They are saying rent is due the 1st of every month and late fees will be posted by the 4th of every month. Originally we had until the 5th of every month. I have no late charges or fees in the 1.5 years I’ve been here because I have been able to pay every month on the 5th. This company is out for peoples money with no disregard to their tenants, leaving information sitting in the rain, not properly giving out information. They informed us 8 days before the new late fee and won’t return my calls to discuss the issue.

We understand that new ownership and changes to your property management can feel overwhelming. We received the management contract for this park at closing and took letters to the tenants that day, working through the night to get them dispersed. We apologize if you feel like this has happened too quickly, but we responded as quick as we could once given the notice. As for it being left in the rain, if tenants were not home, we left letters in the mailbox. Our employee worked in the rain to get letters out as soon as possible. Finally, for rent raises, the market as a whole has experience rent raises, as the housing market has also increased. Our country is experiencing inflation, and while we know this is one more thing, we need to be able to sustainably run this park.
