Requested service to figure out what was wrong with my water heater tank. Performed maintenance work without my authorization and handed me an invoice. I would not have had them install a new tank without doing my research. Claims there was a hole in my tank but never showed me anything and hauled my original tank away. When I called the office to say this is not normal business operations, the man basically blamed me and said that’s a normal price. I said that is not the point and he said “oh well the person that took your call should have told you over the phone.” However, how would she have told me if they didn’t know what was wrong with it yet. I would have never authorized this as I would want to look into my options.Dave's Plumbing Service Response

In response to *** ******* review, we would like to offer the full version of the story and clarify a couple of things that simply aren't accurate. *** ***** called in for service on her hot water tank. Our dispatcher quoted her our hourly rates and initial charges. She informed *** ***** that due to the heavy call in requests, it was most likely going to be an overtime call. *** ***** approved this option. Our dispatcher inquired as to the brand of tank and when she was told it was a Whirlpool, our dispatcher explained that parts are no longer available and if there was a leak - it would have to be replaced. *** ***** accepted the call. Fortunately, our team was able to respond in an expedient manner and arrived on straight time. *** ***** showed our employee the location of the tank. In a short period of time our employee identified the tank was leaking and the bottom of the tank was rusted. The tank is 22 years old. Average life expectancy is 12-15 years. Our plumber informed *** ***** the tank was leaking and asked if there was a better / direct access to get the new tank in place. *** ***** showed our plumber a better access and our plumber proceeded to change out teh tank. Because our dispatcher informed the customer that a leaking tank would have to be replaced and coupled with the plumber telling the customer the tank was leaking - he proceeded with the replacement. In addition, an expansion tank was added to bring the installation and house up to code. After 3 plus hours, the employee informed *** ***** the install was complete and *** ***** signed his service report and asked how much it was going to be. He directed the customer to call the office to make a payment. *** ***** spoke to our Service Manager and this is when she became upset. *** ***** provided her credit card information for payment and the call ended. Within approximately 1.5 hours, *** *****'s father sent and email to our office stating "the service man claimed that it had a hole in the tank. I do believe that the tank did not have a hole in the tankas when I looked at it there was not a lot of water on the floor. If anything it would be the relive value. If it was a hole the tank would be emptly. Also when do you take a take out side to exam it. You RIPPEDMY DAUGHTER OFF. I WILL GIVE YOU BAD REVIEWS ON EVERY AITE I CAN FIND. ALSO GOING TO REPORT YOU TO BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU. BULL POOP." I apologize for the last wrod, but I directly quoted the customer's father and his email. I also typed exactly the spelling and false claims he made. This is a 50 gallon tank and a small leak would not drain the tank - all tanks have a 1/2" make-up water line to keep the tank filled. In addition, the tank was not removed and taken outside to identify the leak. His other inaccurate statement about the presure relief valve - he examined it and knows it was not leaning. If that valve relieved, you would have emptied the tank. This email was sent on 02/12/24 at 5:47 pm. On 02/13/24 at 9:22 Dave's Plumbing, licensed, master journeyman plumber, Troy responded with an email response. He explained there was not a hole, but rather a crack in the tank and thermal expansion causes the leak. It should be noted that *** ***** filed thsi compalint on 02/12/24 without ever asking for a meeting of clarification or a resolution. It should also be noted the customers' father 'threatened' to harm our reputation on miss-statements made in his email. We have invited the customer to examine the hot water tank as we have retained it within our shop. The insulation was saturated and the bottom of the tank is rusted from the leaking after 22 years. Neither the customer or her father has examined the tank that was removed. We were and are prepared to work with *** ***** and even offer a partial credit to this customer to have another satisfied customer, but we have to have a willing participant to show the proof of the failed tank and then we are confident we can resolve this matter. An email invitation was sent to *** *****'s father to come to our shop to examine the tank and show the proof of the failed tank and the father responded with 'no thanks...not interested or not necessary'. We feel all issues can be resolved professionally and respectfully if two parties are willing to show respect and talk things out. We welcome a call from *** *****...************.to rectify any concerns the customer still holds. To 'threaten' to harm one's business with no attempts to understand the facts or negotiate doesn't seem right. An invitation stands with *** ***** to amicably resolve this matter.Review from Marc S

Rip Off. I wish I just sent them on their way. Called to have a driveway drain unblocked 8/23/23. Very simple access to the drain (they could drive to it and lift the grate out of the way). $200 to snake the drain. This was a surprise, but I am new to the area and wanted this done so my garage would stop getting flooded. Big storm coming. For $200 they ran a snake and found a blockage at 30 feet. They said they weren't sure if that was the only one, but I could pay them an extra $300 so they could run their camera down the line and look. I hesitated. Oh yeah, as part of a "package" they'd look with the camera for "only $250." I wonder what the tech's upsell commission is? My drain backed up again this morning. They advertise "We won't drain your checkbook." I would NEVER call these frauds again.Review from Dustin C

Called to have e a 60 foot outside drain line inspected with camera for possible break due to water in the corner of basement where drain line was. Crew located clog in the 60 ft drain that would cause back up and not appropriate draining and cleaned all out with hydro jet. I have not had water back up or enter basement since this so it has improved gutter drainage into this collection system that was poorly designed by previous house ownership. They came to unclog a toilet for abt $200. Then told me they need a sonar to come out to see where my pipe was collapsed which was abt another $390. They pin pointed the collapse (under shower and tile floor). They dug a 4 foot hole and there was not even a pipe there!! This was to be almost $3-4k.This in my experience with this business. I would not recommendDave's Plumbing Service Response

We were called by Ms. ***** to clear a sewer line blockage in the basement of her house in her basement bathroom. We responded on 2-2-23 performing a mainline cable (Cable snake). We were unable to clear the blockage. On 2-6-23 we returned per the customer's request to camera / locate suspected break in sewer line under soil and concrete. After removing the water closet we ran the camera / locator and found the suspected break near the shower area. The locator using 512 GHZ sonde frequency showed the location at 4' deep. We offered a proposal to excavate and repair and the customer wanted to save some money and offered to haul away the spoils and back fill themselves. We agreed to a substantial savings. The customer removed their fiberglass shower prior to us having a conversion about this course of action, but after the camera was run. On 2-10-23 we removed concrete and spoils to find the pipe was not in that location. Ms. ***** called around 2:30 visibly upset wanting to know how we would compensate her for our 'negligence and lack of knowledge and to put the bathroom back as started'. After the Liscensed, Master Plumber Service Manager questioned the crew, he discovered they successfully were able to run the water jetter and clear the line and discover the real problem now that the camera was not impeded by a sewer line filled with grey water and residue. They found improper fittings installed under ground on the sewer line that were not up to code. This is what caused our cable and intial camera to be re-directed and incorrect. The situation was discussed with Mr. ***** and he agreed and understood the situation. We offered to put everything back to the original state at no cost to teh customer and Ms. ***** then asked our crew to leave and told our Service Manager she didn't want us in her house, we were scam artists, and we didnt know what we were doing. She said she would ruin our company on social media and she would get another contractor and would be contacting her attorney and would see us in court. She refused to allow us to make it right even after it was discussed that the improper plumbing caused the issue and would need corrected to prevent this to happen in the future. She has taken to Google, Yelp, and Facebook St. Clairsville community page with 20,000 plus members with her version of the story and omitted pertinent facts. The good news, our Service Manager reached out again and was able to contact her today and there is a verbal agreement to resolve the matter. We are going to be allowed to honor our intial offering and we are going to do some additional corrections to their plumbing issues at no charge. It must also be noted we never charged for jetting the line clear on the 2-10-23 call. Ms. ***** in turn has agreed to remove her complaint with the BBB and to make a corrected statement on social media clearing the air of our willingness to work with her and correct the issue. This call just transpired a couple of hours ago and we will work in good faith on our end to do the right thing. We truly believe Ms. ***** will correct the posts and make things right once we complete the verbal agreement.Customer Response

Quoted rate at $85/ hour. Charged $138/ hour. Total of $690 Said rates went up. You couldn't ask for a better worker that did the plumbing fix. Management tells the worker how to write the bill and is paid on site. Am elderly and now have to worry about how to manage til my next pay. Took advantage of me because he can. This is not the first complaint for the same issue for this place. I loved the plumber, not the owner.Dave's Plumbing Service Response

After reviewing the complaint, there was an error on the invoice. Our rate is, as was quoted, $125.00 for the first hour, and $85.00 for each additional. **** never contacted our office or this issue would have been resolved. Dave's plumbing will issue the proper credit.
