This roofing company lost its licenses in ** and CA recently, closed briefly, then sprang up again with a new website advertising for, I guess, unlicensed roofing services. That alone is troubling but what this complaint is for relates to them claiming to be in good standing with the BBB as an affiliate, which is absolutely not true. They lost their BBB affiliation. I'd like them to remove the affiliation statement as well as be subject to any penalties the BBB has provisions for under this type of deception.Initial Complaint

I called about a potential problem on my roof. I felt a soft spot when checking out AC unit on roof so I called the professionals at Cal-Pro roofing said they were going to get it covered with my home insurance and it would be hassle free and to not stress. I trusted them & went through with it and got a kick back from my home insurance saying that they werent going to cover it and that I had to fix the whole roof along with some trim pieces with a licensed contractor in order for me to continue my home insurance. At that time I contacted Cal-Pro and they told me that I can do a payment arrangement to get my whole roof replaced and I told them I didnt have the money for that and they havent done anything to make this right and now I am without home insurance and have a hard time finding a home insurance thatll cover me because of the issue. I havent gotten a full response from ****** down at Cal-pro to see if they are going to make this right or not.Business response

We did submit a claim with *****************************************, but his insurance denies the claim, we have no idea why they remove the coverage to the client, and It is not our fault. That is an issue that ********************** needs to discuss with his insurance company. He wants us to repair his roof , but he said he can not pay for the repair, and we can not do it for free.Initial Complaint

Cal Pro is not truthful. Cal Pro abandoned the job, left my roof torn off and unprotected, resulting in $25,000 in interior damage due to El ******************* of Feb. 2023. I had to file 2 additional insurance claims with state farm and hired another roofer (romco) to put on a roof, a cheaper one at that because Cal Pro took my $10,000 and I could no longer afford to get the raised metal seam roof I paid Cal Pro to put on. Subsequently, I had to hire many contractors to fix all the interior damage.Initial Complaint

Calpro installed my current roof in 2018. This past July I noticed a shingle had either flown off of flipped over. When I got on the roof for a closer look, I found that the shingle flipped over onto the row above. The reason for this was that it had not been nailed down properly. The only nails holding it were from the shingle above it. Upon further inspection it appeared that several more in the same row had not been nail down either. I contacted CalPro numerous times from the end of August thru September and was repeatedly told someone would be right out to fix the problem. That finally happened sometime mid September. Only it was not corrected properly. Whoever came out drove several nails directly thru the shingles exposed surface with nails that have big orange washers on them. After repeated attempts to get this fix to manufacture and industry standards, nothing has happened. All I want is what I paid for. A good looking roof that is not going to blow off in your average storm.Business response

I am rejecting the business response because it is not backed by anything other than their word. I have explained how they nailed through the face of an asphalt shingle, the exposed portion, when clearly this does not meet the manufacturers or industry standards. The concern is that their fix has compromised the water proof integrity of the shingles and basically voids the purpose of why the shingles are installed in the first place.Initial the shingle were not secured to the roof properly and were flapping in the wind and ultimately flipped up exposing the sub roof dramatically increasing the possibility of water penetration in to the home. They could have taken the time to properly fix the issues but choose to destroy the shingles instead.I want the damaged shingles replaced and properly attached to the roof as was contracted when they did the original installation. They were hired and paid in good faith and choose to take short cuts in quality that ultimately will cost me additional money if not resolved.Initial Complaint

I had hired this company to fix my mobile home roof and put up a new carport awening. I gave them part of the money back in the beginning of September 2022 and they told me they would start the job as soon as they got the supplies. I wrote two checks on Sept 15th, one for $5356.35 and another for $1000.00. It was for flooring, roofing repair and carport awening. They finished the flooring but have not returned for the roof or awning. He keeps stringing me along. He keeps saying tommorow and never shows up. I showed him a video on how the roof is leaking in my bedroom in the house when it rains and how the cieling is drooping more and he still has not fixed it.Business response

I had my roof replaced by Cal-Pro Roofing in August 2020. I was satisfied with the work completed by ******************************* and his crew. After the work was complete, I made my second and final payment for the work on August 31, 2020. The day the ******* came to pick up the check from me, I noticed several shingles had flown off the roof, into my front yard. I showed ******* and he said he would send one of his guys over to fix this in a couple days. No one ever showed up to do the work. I called ******* a couple weeks later and he said he'd be sending someone over to replace the shingles. No one ever showed up, and in the mean time, more shingles fell off the roof, into the yard. In inspecting the roof, I noticed that all the roof caps had come off the roof vent, so the vent was entirely exposed. Over a few months, I left several messages for ******* but never heard back from him. In the fall of 2021, I saw a Cal-Pro truck drive through my neighborhood, and caught up with the crew. They came by and inspected my roof and took pictures of my roof and observed the pile of roof cap shingles I had put in a pile. They assured me someone would be over in few days to replace the roof caps. No one ever came over to complete the work. Recently (July 30, 2022), I had a roofer inspect my roof. He pointed out to me cracks on the roof vent due to exposure. He gave me a rough estimate of $250-350 to repair the damage and replace the roof caps. Obviously, I would prefer not to pay out of pocket for a roof with a 20 year warranty. I hope Cal-Pro can still guarantee and stand by its work.Business response
