I paid over $200 just so that Goodguys can tell me that they cant fix my car. In fact, the had the nerve to tell me that I should take it to a dealership because they cant handle the job. What kind of mechanics are they hiring? If you cant fix my car, dont charge me!! I feel scammed and will never recommend this place.

I was referred to go to the West **** Goodguys location because of a tick my engine was making. The reason being was because **** the ** at that location was a "master mechanic" and was the only guy that could help my situation. They charged me $540 to do an in-depth inspection of my engine. I was given a call back about an hour later by **** the ** and told the terrible news that I needed 1 cam shaft replaced and a couple "rotator arms", as well as the quote of 6-7K for them to do the repair. I was very disheartened by this conversation. Luckily ****, ********************" offered to take my car off my hands and told me he would call me back in a few days with a number that he would buy my car from me for. I'm sure it was going to be a dirt cheap low ball number. In the mean time I took my car to a couple other mechanics and they all heard my story and immediately said that quote was outrages and they doubted that a thorough inspection was even done on my car. Long story short, my cam shaft is fine. I needed a few parts replaced and my total bill is $740 from a mechanic across town. So either Goodguys on West **** are inadequate at their jobs overcharging insane amounts of money for work that doesn't need to be done, or crooked and will try to take advantage of their customers. Either way they will never have my business again!

This is for the location at ***************************************. I had a s**** in my tire. Since business was close to my home, I drove it over with a slow leak. Would have been a patch job. I asked to drive it into a stall since the tire still had air in it. I was told to park in a parking spot. By the time they got to my truck the tire was completely flat. They then drove the truck into the stall with the tire completely flat. They told me I would need a new tire. What ended up being a patch job now was going to be a full replacement because of what they did. I am a retired mechanic and know the damage that can be caused by this action. I didn't want them to touch my truck after this and used their floor **** and my tools to put on my spare tire on. I took my truck to another place and now I have to get a new tire because of their action. Out $220.00 for a new tire that should have been a patch.

Went through the Goodguys on **** N. ********** and they were terrible. I wanted to finance my car repair and they insisted that we filled out the application wrong though we contacted the financing company several times and was told that THEY were incorrect. They held our car for days. Long story short, we paid in CASH and they still ended up charging us a service fee for financing we didn’t even get to do. When I received my car back, its’ interior roof was covered with black marks and 2 huge dirty hand prints. Poor communication. Poor service.

If I could give half a star. Came in with fleet services to get an oil change and tuneup. Dropped off in morning hours. Misfiring so needed spark plugs. Came back to new tires (possibly one needed replaced), new brakes AND rotors, NO tuneup. Lied and said fleet didn’t approve a tuneup. This was done to me at the dealership so I called and got it preapproved so I knew that was a lie. $1100 more than what I came to get and didn’t even get what needed to be done, done. Fleet services know what happened and are looking into it.

I agree with the other reviews. I don’t have a background in mechanics or fair prices for parts. I went to the Goodguys on Herndon/Brawley. The owner and his son both assured they could fix my car. A year and half later it still had leaks from the power steering pump and oil system. Paid them close to $4000. I finally took to another place last week. They couldn’t believe the shoddy work GG did. The new place charged me $1000. Replaced the pump and had to get the silicone used to plug the leaks scraped off. I am filing in small claims. Hopefully get a portion of what I paid back. A real nightmare.

In early Nov 2021 the in-tank fuel pump went out on my 2001 Chevy Silverado, I called Goodguys Tire and Wheel and they quoted me a price of $800 over the phone and I was ok with it. I had the truck towed to the 6760 Blackstone location and later received a phone call from a different guy telling me the price was going to be double the quoted amount. I asked if the truck was still together and to push it outside I would have a tow truck come pick it up. He was telling how much work it is to drop the fuel tank and that this truck uses a special fuel pump. He finally came down to somewhere around $1000 and I needed the truck so I told him to do it. As it turned out, they did not drop the fuel tank they lifted the bed (the same as I would have done if I had help with it) and the fuel pump assy can be purchased from GM dealers all over for $250 my cost so their cost would be even cheaper. I understand product mark-up, I have a store, but not $600 for the pump! The entire job took less than 1 hr the way they lifted the bed. How is a bill of over $1000 justified without gouging me? My background, I was a heavy equipment/diesel mechanic for Caterpillar and Cummins for over 28 yrs. I know when I am being gouged!!! Currently a plant Science Grad student at Fresno State in my retirement years. I just really feel they knew they had me over a barrel and thought they could charge anything they wanted to charge once the truck had been dropped off by a wrecker. I feel that I was ripped off! They did not have to diagnose it, I told them I wanted them to change the fuel pump. I asked them to save the old parts and did not receive all of the parts. There is an issue with these trucks and the plug on the harness at the pump assy so all new pump assemblies come with this plug for the harness to be changed. It is not written up on my paperwork that they replaced it so where is the new plug for the harness? For what they charged me I expect everything back. I need it for a different car.
