Following Hurricane **** ******************* (FI) inspected our roof damage and determined the roof did not need to be replaced. Subsequent thereto, Clean Initiative (CI) said it could get FI to pay for a new roof once we paid the deductible. Hence, I contracted with CI to be our advocate. Eventually, ** had a law firm represent us in a mediation session with FI, and FI agreed to pay for a new roof. Once the amount to be allowed was settled, the law firm took a portion for its service and the remainder went to CI. CI indicated it ordered the materials 6-3-24 and was awaiting the arrival of the materials to start the roof replacement project. Since then, I have been awaiting information on when the materials might arrive, and the roof replacement project would begin. On 8-21-24, I received FIs requested documents from CI Representative **** ******** and forwarded them onto FI. I have not had any communication with Mr. ******** or any other CI representative since 8-21-24 even though I have made many attempts via phone calls/texts. Messages received during recent phone calls indicated User busy, Im sorry, this number is currently not in service, or Your call cannot be completed as dialed. No responses to the text messages. I also called the CI main headquarters in **********, and the message received was Im sorry, this number is currently not in service. We have worried throughout this process that this was some type of scam, but all information developed during this process, including the BBBs information indicating CI has been in business for eight (8) years, suggested that it was a viable company, and it would follow through with its commitment to replace the roof as promised. To conclude, we would greatly appreciate anything the BBB can do to help us get CI to follow through with its contractual commitment or return the money CI received for this project. As information, we have a record of all verbal and written communications.

I had Clean Initiative (CI) install a rooftop solar system at my home four years ago. I felt at the time the sales, design, permitting and install went well. I even recommended CI to friends. However earlier this year I noticed a significant degradation in power generation. At first I thought it was just the panels needing cleaning, but soon after the system stopped producing any power. I reached out to my primary contact/sales person at CI, but found out he was no longer with the company. I went onto their website. They still have one. I saw the company moved from ******** to *********. I tried contacting CI by email and phone. Phone number was continually busy. Email address no longer active. I went to the California Contractors website to see CI's status. I saw their license has been suspended. I purchased my solar install (versus lease or finance), so I have no one to turn to. I've started calling other solar companies, but I'm learning nobody wants to do solar repairs on systems they didn't install.

We had Clean Initiative install solar panels 5/2021. Our 2022 and 2023 ****** **** has been exponentially increasing, despite having new solar panels. Since they do not have any phone numbers that work (busy signal all the time, at all hours of the day and night/the number given to me by ******** (finance company) goes straight to voicemail and there is no outgoing message, which I have 2 with no reply), emails to the company get bounced back to me saying the message is undeliverable. I am left with no other way to communicate (looks like they are responsive on here) with them. I refuse to pay for solar panels that are not working and worse, cannot communicate with the company who installed them! And please spare me the rhetoric of "you're using more energy than the panels can handle" as I have seen this company reply to others here. Your company did an assessment and we even added 2 more panels on top of what was recommended. I need the comapny to call me and resolve this issue ASAP.

I was referred to Clean Initiative by ************************** (SCE) for a solar installation. Unfortunately, the entire experience was disappointing. The transition from SCE to Clean Initiative was lengthy and disorganized, leading to significant delays. Although permits were eventually approved, Clean Initiative falsely claimed they werent, which should have been a warning sign. After a year with no progress, I was served with a mechanical lien for the project. Clean Initiative was dismissive when I contacted them. I had received a check from the financing bank for Clean Initiative, but due to their lack of response, the check voided. Then, I was unexpectedly contacted by a representative demanding payment and threatening legal action, despite the fact that the solar panels hadnt been installed.Eventually, the installation was completed, but it was handled poorly. The installers were unprepared, lacked basic tools, and even asked my family for assistance. A second team had to fix the wiring errors made by the first.Since the installation, Ive had ongoing issues. The battery failed during a power outage, and when SCE performed maintenance on August 29, 2024, the battery again did not work. I had to hire a local solar installer, costing $350, who confirmed the installation was faulty.Additionally, I havent seen any savings on my electric bills. Despite opting for a program to use my battery from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM, it hasnt worked, and my bills remain high. SCE informed me that Clean Initiative is still affiliated with them, which is concerning.I strongly advise others to avoid Clean Initiative due to poor service, communication, and quality of work.

Both my spouse and I entered into a contract with Clean Initiative, **** for the purchase and installation of solar panels for our house. This contract began in early 2023 with the work beginning in July of 2023. Since that time, there have been many issues related to the length of time it took to complete the installation (about a year), with constant cancellations and rescheduling by the contractor. Once the installation was finally completed a year after it began, there were ongoing issues with some of our circuit breakers repeatedly tripping. We would have to contact the vendor and they would give us the run around, stating they would schedule a time to come out, yet they would never show up. After a few weeks of trying, our contact with the company than told us that the company has allegedly gone out of business, which we have yet to confirm. Now we are stuck with a panel that keeps tripping and solar panels that are supposed to be warranted by a company that may no longer be in business.

Clean Initiative installed our solar and battery system. This has taken an huge amount of time (18 months +) and now that we are down to our last inspection on the battery, the company and their representatives are completely unresponsive. For months. The fire department will not come out to inspect the battery without the solar contractor present. The company has not responded to requests to schedule the inspection - since March 2024. This is holding up our entire project and means we cannot get a C of O for our new unit (which means that we cannot rent it out). The city will not let us handle this as homeowners and requires that the solar contractor handle the battery inspection and final inspection for the whole system.

Approximately 2 1/2 years ago we entered into an agreement with Clean Initiative to do insurance approved roof repairs. Our insurance company approved some repairs, not a new roof, and Clean Initiative collected money for the repairs. However, no work has been completed, the company does not respond to texts, or phone calls. When someone does answer the phone they say someone will call us back but no one ever does. Today, July 8, 2024, I tried calling the business number I had for the company and the one I saw on line (same number listed on this site: ************) but it is disconnected, I contacted a project manager who gave me his card and he no longer works there. He gave me another number to try to contact someone via text, but no response. I want the agreement for repairs to be canceled and for them to return all monies they collected from us and our insurance company so we can move on from this nightmare with this company.
