My car was stolen 2+ months ago around January-February of 2022. I called the police and it had been, burned and totaled and taken to Mr C's towing company. I called Mr. C's towing right away and they said I would have to pick it up but it was totaled. I asked what I should do and the person told me I can just release it to them so I wouldn't get charged for storage fees. I didn't have money so I said ok I will release it. I received a bill yesterday for about ****$ dollars from a collection agency. I was assuming that the Tow Company was giving me correct information since they are the experts and know what to do in these situations. I called Mr. Cs towing and they basically said that they couldn't do anything. Under the stress of my car being stolen I followed the steps that the towing company told me to do. I do not believe they have a right to charge me after the fact since they indeed kept the car and sold for profit. They have never called me back every time I ask for a supervisor and have been hung up on. I feel like this is a scam.

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/04/12) */ It has been the policy and practice of ******* Towing to accept the pink slip to the vehicle not wanted by the registered owner along with one half of the tow bill so the vehicle in our possession. Your insurance company should pay the fees for the vehicle towing and storage. Insurance coverage for vehicles in the state of California is required. We provide a service as any other business and require payment for the service provided. It appears there may have been a misunderstanding as to payment due for the service provided. I regret your unfortunate situation.

My truck was towed from my personal parking spot that I pay every month to rent . I pay for the spot every month and have lived here over 5 years . I've never had a problem parking in my parking spot that I pay every month to rent . My hoa recently sent out a notice saying vehicles parked in front of garages would be towed . So why was my truck towed ? Why are you targeting vehicles that are parked in assigned parking spots ? No one could of called and complained because I'm the owner of the spot . When picking up my truck from the tow yard today they gave no explanation of why it was towed . I go in to retrieve my truck and notice it was unlocked . I'm not sure how it's possible for it to be unlocked if they didn't have a key . I get in my truck to drive it of the lot and notice my center console is lit up like a Christmas tree . My Service anti lock brake system light and Service parking brake light is now on. Clearly it was not towed right. I bring this up to them and they say that's normal . That's not normally if you tow it right with a flatbed or wheels dolly's . Then Driving home from the tow yard i noticed my windshield has a crack now .
