I am filing this complaint because Honda Financial Services (HFS) has inaccurately reported late payments on my auto loan account (#*********). These late payments were reported during a period covered by the CARES Act protections. Under the CARES Act, creditors were required to provide accommodations to borrowers facing financial hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and late payments during this time should not have been reported. I was under such accommodations, and Honda Financial Services has failed to follow these requirements. Additionally, Honda Financial Services claims to have sent billing statements and payment reminders to me, but they sent these communications to an incorrect address. I did not reside at this address during the disputed period, and therefore, I did not receive the notices they claim to have sent. The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) requires creditors to ensure accurate reporting and timely delivery of billing statements, specifically: 15 U.S.C. 1681s-2(a): Furnishers must provide accurate information to credit reporting agencies. 15 U.S.C. 1666(b): Creditors must ensure billing statements are sent to the correct address and received at least 21 days prior to the payment due date. Honda Financial Services failed to meet these obligations. They also acknowledged in their response to my initial dispute that they changed my payment due date in September 2022 without proper notification, which further supports the inaccuracy of their reporting. I have already disputed this issue with Honda Financial Services directly, but they have refused to correct the inaccuracies. They insist on reporting the late payments despite their failure to meet the CARES Act and **** requirements. Honda Financial Services has an obligation to ensure accurate reporting and to comply with federal laws designed to protect consumers. I believe their actions have caused harm to my credit standing and seek resolution through the BBBBusiness response

I bought the car from ******** Honda and they made me believe that everything is set for payments and I need not worry about anything. on the contrary this was not the case. when I saw a hit on my credit report, then is when I realized that there is a missing payment. When I called them , they said you will have to setup payments. When this was informed I immediately made the payment. I reached out to Honda Finance to get this fixed and remove the late payment as this was not my fault and I was made to believe that everything is good, but they refused to take off the credit ****. Also, they did confirm that they had a wrong telephone number written on my credit application , as a result they were not able to reach me. Again this was their fault and not my fault. My credit score has taken a bad hit due to this.Business response

I have purchased a brand New 2021 Honda CRV that has been malfunctioning since I had it. My car has been in the shop 4 times for the same problem. The car loses power instantly going down the highway. It has happened multiple times we're I have been going 75mph and the car loses power in seconds and I have to avoid getting hit from behind or trying to get on the shoulder without causing an accident. The first couple of times I was told there is an issue but there is no fix. The third time the switched out the cylinder which only ended up being a temporary fix. Now my car has been in the shop again almost 8 months for the same issue and the plan is to just change out the cylinder again. Changing the cylinder is just a temporary fix. My warranty is running out and no one from Honda wants to help me with a resolution. I have expressed multiple times how the car is unsafe and dangerous but it keeps getting ignored. Since I have had the car I have asked/begged them to exchange for a reliable safe car but was denied. I am Home Health Regustered Nurse that depends on a reliable and safe vehicle to get to my patients which has not been the case with this vehicle. I am having my first ***** in March and don't feel safe having her in this vehicle. I have been making payments on a brand new vehicle that I have not had the pleasure of enjoying since purchasing. My warranty expires in about ***** miles and then I will be stuck with the problem and Honda does not seem to care. I would just like the vehicle exchanged for something safe and reliable for me and my *****. I have attached 3/4 documents reporting the same issue. Vehicle is still in the shop so I don't have documents for the fourth time. I hope that this will help me get a resolution before my baby is born.Business response

On 12/27/24, my 2024 Honda CRV was totaled. On 1/3/25, American Honda was contacted by my insurance company to request the documentation for them to payoff the vehicle. I have placed numerous calls to American Honda to get this documentation sent to my insurance company so the payment can be made. There is overage from the vehicle that is due to me, and American Honda is holding up this payment because they are failing to provide the documentation. Additionally, I have a payment due on 1/17/25, and the insurance company cannot pay off the car without this paperwork. I was advised to not make a payment on this lease. My credit better not be impacted. The requested documents should not take 2 weeks to complete. Its a simple auto populated document that guarantees American Honda will release the title to the insurance company. I need the funds to purchase a vehicle, and American Honda is intentionally stalling this for unknowing reasons. It should be a very simple task. Additionally, I asked to speak to a supervisor and was hung up on because the person said they dont transfer calls to managers. I called back in and talked to someone else who said they could not transfer the call but said they could put a request for a callback to a manager and it could take ***** or more hours for someone to call back. Honestly, this is very disappointing, frustrating, and poor service I would not expect from a company like Honda.Business response

Back in June 2024, I finished paying off my installments for my account: *********, several months earlier than my contracted financing agreement. It is now January 2025 and I never received a title release even though I owe nothing further to Honda financial services. I contacted them several times throughout November trying to determine the reason why I was not able to get a title release and they provided no information, nor did they email or ever call me back when multiple times they said they would. At the beginning of December 2024, I called back and was advised that a letter had been mailed via the post to my address in **********, in which I advised it was never received and asked if they could email it to me, which they said they would follow up on, but never did as I never received the email nor the letter. They did tell me that I needed proof from the Hawaii DMV from when I lived there over four years ago that there was no transfer of title there. I managed to get the document from the Hawaii DMV and emailed it to the email address they gave me: ****************************************** with attn: ****** and my account number in the subject line as they asked. I have sent follow up emails to that address the 13th and 26th of December 2024 and again on the 8th of January 2025. I have never heard back from them. I have gone to the California DMV who state that Honda still owns the vehicle so there is nothing they can do until Honda releases it. I have tried calling again and they state that the case is still open. Can you understand how ridiculous this is that I paid off the car in June of 2024 and it's now middle of January 2025 and I still have no title release? It's unacceptable and I'm sorry, but it's unacceptable that no one calls me, contacts me, even when they say they do and it's not right that they have A+ rating with the BBB. There is no other number or contact info they gave me to file a complaint.Business response

My car was repossessed today. I didnt get the letter until after I got back from out of town spending the holidays with my family. I am requesting my car get back to me this week with a payment of ***** or I will be suing the company. You sent this letter to me during the holiday season and during high inflation when people are struggling. I am requesting a reasonable negotiation. You also entered my property and garage unlawfully and am working with apartment complex on criminal trespassing.Business response

I am rejecting this response because their response was not to my satisfaction. They discriminated against me because they didnt like me (as evidenced by their attitude on the phone). They refused to reinstate my loan even though there was only a year left on the loan and I had been paying on the loan since 2019. I also paid off another car successfully, which should have been taken into consideration. This is not a closed case, and BBB needs to bring their score down.
Sincerely,

I am rejecting this response because they have failed to address the issues they claimed to resolve. They are a horrible company that screwed me over and offered no options other than paying over 6k to get my car back. They discriminated against me and have not addressed my issue. I want an apology from the company and my title sent to me asap. I also want credit reporting updated to say I paid off my car and I want a call from a manager about the discrimination.
Sincerely,

I purchased a brand-new 2016 HONDA CIVIC, VIN:***************** from *************************************, ** on July 4, 2016. I have fully completed all payment obligations through Honda Financial Services, but the dealership has refused to release the vehicle title to me. The dealership claims that the vehicle was registered in *********, but I provided proof from the *** confirming that the vehicle was never registered there. Despite my efforts to resolve this issue by contacting the dealership multiple times, they have not taken any steps to correct the situation. This delay is preventing me from properly registering and legally driving my vehicle, causing significant stress and inconvenience. **Desired Resolution:** I am requesting that Honda Financial Services immediately release the vehicle title and provide confirmation that this issue has been fully resolved. I have attached the following supporting documents: - Proof of full payment - DMV statement confirming the vehicle was not registered in Wisconsin - Communication records with the dealership Thank you for your assistance in helping resolve this matter.Business response

I need to formally express my frustration regarding the inadequate communication and training in the customer service department at ********************. For the past month, I have repeatedly attempted to file a claim to defer my December 2024 payment to January ************************************************************ November 2024. This situation directly led to my November payment being late, and I require additional time to resolve it.Honda Financial Services continues to delay my claim because customer service representatives either no longer work there or have incorrectly submitted my claim multiple times. As of January 8th, I find myself two months behind and facing yet another negative **** on my credit report due to the unprofessional handling of my case. The responses I have received from customer support are unacceptable, advising me that I must simply wait for the department assigned to my case to process it. This situation needs immediate resolution, and I expect prompt action to correct these issues.Business response

I purchased a Honda Ruckus on January 3, 2025 from 5th Gear Cycle in ************, **. The amount of purchase was financed through Honda Finance. In ********, a motorized scooter (Ruckus) does not require a tag or title. Later that day I received an email that 5th Gear has sent typical documentation to the Oklahoma Division of Motor Vehicles for the Ruckus to be titled. The merchant, 5th Gear, insists Honda Finance requires a title although the finance agreement does not clearly state this nor was it ever mentioned during the transaction. Furthermore, Honda Finance says there is nothing they can do to pressure 5th Gear to comply to OK law, therefore I am being forced to get a title even though the Ruckus is exempt from a title requirement.Business response
