I bought a 2006 **** ** ******* from toro auto about three months ago. Well I'm financing it. I wanted to put more down or pay more for an extended warranty but was told they couldn't do it because the car was more then 7 years old which didn't make sense to me but I believed at the time. A day after putting down 2500 dollars down on the car the check engine light came on for an evap leak that they said they fixed before I bought it. They ended up fixing the leak after 3 days and having to drive an hour from my house to get it fixed. They told me the brakes were done all the way around and my fluids were topped off. When I got home I barely had coolant it was almost empty and so was my hydraulic fluid. After 1400 I got my brakes and rotors done. Tried to get reimbursed they said they couldn't so it. That was only three weeks after I bought the car the brakes started squeaking bad so I had to replace then and the rotors. Now it's almost three months not quite yet but my clutch just went. After they told me it had been replaced recently. It's gonna cost me 2500 to 3000 dollars to fix my clutch now. So now 4000 later I'm out all this money and still have a car payment every month until I pay this car off. Them lieing to customers and not remeburshing customers for repairs right after they buy a car isn't right.Initial Complaint

I was buying a Truck from Toro Auto on 10/16/23. They requested a down payment of $500 dollars. Put down the 500 and I will give them the rest of the money one the vehicle was fixed the minor problems. I call on 10/18/23 to see if the truck was fix they told me let me check I will call you back. The day went buy and I did not heard from them. Just to let you know that they told me that truck will be ready for 10/19/23. So I decide to take a ride to Toro Auto on 10/19/23 to pick the truck. When I got there the truck was park on the same place that I left it after I did a test drive. I walk in to the office to find out if the truck was ready they give me the round around telling me that they needed to check if the truck was ready. I told the sales person if the minor problems were not fix I want my money back. The answer from Toro Auto was that I was not getting my money back. Toro Auto did not fulfilled the agreement to have the truck ready for 10/19/23. So they kept my 500 dollars and no truck. I don't think that was fair that a auto company still my hard working senior money. they should return the money back.Initial Complaint

I am rejecting this response because:
The business has failed to fix the issue with struts for the second time which shows their bad intentions to not spend any more money on the car. Instead of fixing the issue, they seek cheap alternatives that last for less than a week. This place is a total scam
Sincerely,

Mr. **** left many details in his review below and I would like to address them and rectify the information he touched on. On 01/15/2022, Mr. **** purchased a 2007 **** ********** with 115,417 miles. We ensured that he was given enough time to test drive it and check it thoroughly. He was given the option to purchase a 36 month or 40,000 miles extended warranty, but he declined it and understood the risk of buying a used vehicle. We explained the risks that come with buying a used vehicle and that not buying the extended warranty would mean the liability of any issues that arose would fall on him. I explained to him that when we sell a vehicle, we do a safety inspection and drive cycle to ensure no check engine light is there and that the car is safe to drive. We had discussed providing him with a key fob, but he was satisfied with the rest of the condition of the vehicle. Mr. **** called us on 01/25/2022, 10 days after taking the vehicle home and declining the extended warranty, informing us his check engine light was now on. We told him we would be happy to assist even though the vehicle was sold as-is and he didn't opt to purchase the warranty. I explained to him the importance of bringing the vehicle to us before it causes more damage, as driving it in that condition will not only make the problem worse, but it is also unsafe. He was supposed to bring the vehicle in over the next day or two. We had discussed that the key fob he wanted was ready for pick up. He never showed up, despite us following up with him and agreeing to come. He never called us to let us know he couldn’t come or told us he wanted to reschedule. He then called us on 2/1/2022 asking if we can ship the key fob and that the check engine light issue was resolved and no longer needed to be addressed. Then he called us again on 2/11/2022 asking if he can bring the vehicle because the engine light came back on, and we gave him another appointment to bring the vehicle. Again, he said he will bring the next day, and I explained to him that our garage is closed on Saturday and that we will look at the vehicle on Monday. Yet again he didn’t show up and didn’t call us to inform us that he was not coming. We didn't hear again from Mr. **** until 3/1/22, a month later, he stated that he decided to take it to his mechanic, and he stated his mechanic is charging him over $1300 and on top of that broke one spark plug. I was shocked to hear that a repair shop would charge that much, and on top of that they didn’t seem to fix the damage that they caused. I explained to him that it is not possible for me to fix other shop's mistakes and it is not possible for me to step in after he didn't show up twice to appointments. I explained to him it has been about 2 months since he purchased the vehicle, in this time he drove over 800 miles on the car. We have tried to go out of our way to assist him despite no law requiring us to do, and we have went beyond the expectation. Every time he called us, we were happy to assist him and offered the help despite the lack of communication from him. We gave him multiple opportunities to come in and get the issue fixed, and he was reluctant to accept help. We wish he would have brought the vehicle into us initially when the check engine light came on so that we could have addressed and rectified this issue. As too much time has passed, he didn’t purchase the extended warranty, he never brought the car in and missed multiple appointments, and he took the car to another shop who caused damage to the vehicle, we are unable to understand what he expects of us to do.Customer response

Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response because: they did not offer to help me they offered to charge me more money to fix a car they sold me I called toro multiple times always being told someone would call me back and had to keep calling them. I know I am not the only person this has happened to. the time and aggravation I have put into this car has been Waying on my family. This is why I bought from a dealership apposed to a private seller. Also in response to them saying I missed Multiple appointments and not calling them I kept them in the loop the whole time I am not the person who dropped the ball. The check engine light just does not come on three days after you buy a car. To bring a car back to the dealership you bought it from to get fixed that probably had the check engine light turned off to begin with and then have you pay to have it towed an hour away just to charge you $130 an hour just to say they fixed it.
Sincerely,
***** ****Business response

Again, we offered to help you, we gave you 2 appointments and you didn't show up. We reviewed all the call logs and dates. I'm not sure where you coming up with these numbers, we don't even charge that for the hourly rate.
