- Additional Info:
In September 2018, BBB began investigating Danielle Marie Day Spa’s business practices. This investigation was prompted by a pattern of complaints. The consumer would purchase packages of laser hair removal procedures through Groupon or on-site. Ms Donfrancesco would complete one or two sessions of the six purchased, and then scheduling the final sessions would become impossible. She would not answer phone calls or texts, and on the rare occasion that she did answer, she would cancel the session or just not show. When asked for refunds, she stated a no refund policy, or agreed to providing small payments over time.
In addition, BBB found that the law requires someone who performs laser hair removal to be a licensed medical professional, or actively supervised by a licensed medical professional, who is familiar with the procedures and associated risks. Consumers stated the procedures were performed personally by Ms. Donfrancesco who is not a licensed medical professional, and that no one else was present before, during, or after these procedures.
The Stratford Health Department had shut the business down for a period of time for operating without a Beauty Spa license (or permit). While she has since obtained the permit required to open the health spa business, this permit does not provide the licensing required for laser hair removal procedures. Consumers should verify that the person performing the laser procedure is properly licensed, or that they are actively supervised by someone with the proper credentials.
