Full Sail University called my house to solicit our interest in their college. When I said no thank you, the young man continued to talk over me repeatedly. I finally hung up. The young man then signed me up for text messages and emails to Latter Day Saints, Prayer Gro***, Zip Recruiters, Amazon Jobs, Jewelry and Perfume companies-all under the name of Karma Listens. He used my phone number and email. I called several times and reported this and they havent done anything about nor have the higher *** returned my phone calls.Business response

My Daughter ******************* who is on the Autism spectrum wanted to go to full sail university. We filled out the correct paperwork and financial aid forms. My daughter was enjoying the school. she was attending on line. Our problem with the school started because of the financial aid situation according to the school documents that I have her first year was to be a total of ********* for wich I had secured and was approved for a Direct Parent plus loan of ********* they also had taken out loans on behalf of my daughter for Direct Subsidized $3,500 Direct Unsubsidized $2000 a full sail scholarship of ***** and a pell for ******** all of these amount according to the school we're approved before she started class. After she started classes my daughter was constantly getting calls from full sail financial aid stressing her out about the financial aid situation stating that they needed my husband and I to resubmit our tax papers which I resubmitted over five times. Also in our conversations of which I asked them if we were being recorded they said yes and I was glad it was because I specifically told them we will not be responsible for any debt resulting from their inability to get the financial aid situation fixed. They assured me she could continue to take classes until the financial aid team finished the paperwork. By now I had already spoken to over five or six financial aid team. Last month when she was about to finished one of her last classes I received another called that I needed to amend something on my taxes the same week we took care of that. In the meantime I sent them a copy of the paperwork and went it was sent and received by the **** Several weeks later they locked my daughter out of her class and student portal. Today they sent my daughter a bill for ********* when I had already withdrawn my daughter because of the school negligence. I do not Recommend this school. Our experience has been a nightmare with financial aid.Customer response

WHEN THIS COMPLAINT WAS SUBMITED A MISTAKE OF THE AMOUNT OF THE RESOLUTION IS INCORRECT. THE $ 2759 DISPUTE AMOUNT IS WHAT MY DAUGTHER STILL HAS ON HER CREDIT REPORT AS BEING PAID TO THE SCHOOL ALTHOUGH THE SCHOOL STATED THEY RETURNED ALL LOAN MONEY TO LENDERS. THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF THE DISPUTE IS ********* THAT HAS BEEN ****ED TO MY DAUGHTER. IN THE **** RECEIVED TODAY THEY STATED I HAD NO LOANS APPROVED THAT IS INCORRECT.
I HAVE DOCUMENTATION FROM LENDERS THAT THE FULL AMOUNT WAS APPROVED AND SENT TO THE SCHOOL.
AFTER THE SCHOOL FINANCIAL AID ASURED ME THAT MY DAUGHTER COULD CONTINUE SCHOOL AND THAT ALL HER FUNDING WAS SECURE AND IF ANY ISSUES ARISE SHE WOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY OUT OF POCKET MONEY.
IT IS NOT OUR FAULT THAT THE SCHOOL WITHOUT NOTIFYING ME OR MY DAUGHTER DECIDED TO RETURN THE FUNDING. THE RESOLUTION WE ARE SEAKING IS THE DELETE HER DEBT TO A $0 BALANCE DO TO THE FINANCIAL AID NEGLIGENCE.

Thank you for your email notification on April 20, 2024, regarding case #********. We appreciate the opportunity to respond.
For reference, the complainants daughter enrolled in the ***************** Associate of Science online program on November 20, 2023, and withdrew on March 27, 2024.
After receiving this complaint, the University reviewed the former students file. We can confirm that the student was charged correctly and in accordance with the terms in the enrollment agreement that she signed before beginning the program.
In her compliant, the complainant takes issue with the financial aid process. In review of the students file, we can confirm that the school properly implemented the required aid processes in its interactions with the complainant. The University also continuously communicated with the complainant throughout this process regarding the needed documentation, steps, and potential outcomes. In summary, the students file was selected by the Department of Education for verification, which required the school to obtain a copy of the complainants tax return. When the school received the tax return, it determined that the complainant needed to amend her tax return. The school advised the complainant that we would need confirmation of the *** amendment in order to resolve the concern. However, we did not receive this confirmation from the complainant and ultimately the student was then ineligible for financial aid disbursements.
We hope this response was helpful in addressing the complainants concerns. If she has additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at ************.Customer response

I am rejecting this response becauseThe response from the school is not correct they never told us in writing or otherwise that my daughter was no longer ineligible for financial aid. Instead they assured us that they would wait for the *** to process the amended return they requested at the last minute.
I have documentation and text messages about our conversations. The school stated they recorded our conversation and that is great as to Prof of our conversation in this matter.
Since they refuse to correct their mistakes. I would have to look into the person with disability act and legal counsel to see how to move forward with the school correcting their mistake.
Sincerely,

For reference, the complainants daughter enrolled in the ***************** Associate of Science online program on November 20, 2023, and withdrew on March 27, 2024.
The University confirms that it followed its policies and procedures in its interactions with the student. The student was charged correctly and in accord with the enrollment agreement that she signed prior to starting her program of study. Furthermore, the University followed the requirements set forth by the federal student aid programs when the students file was selected for verification.
In review of the students circumstances, the University has chosen to adjust the students balance owed to the University and remove the Semester 1 charges. This decision was made as an act of good will and was not an admission of error or wrongdoing on our part. The student is still responsible for any loan or stipend obligations. An updated ledger reflecting this adjustment will be mailed to the complainants daughter.

When I stared at full sail in February of 2022, things went well for a while. I was/ am still using post 9/11 GI bill benefits. They have repeatedly, over the past 2 years, not told me information and have thrown payments on me out of nowhere. We dealt with this back in 2023 around august and had to pay around 4 thousand dollars to keep me from getting kicked out when they had not previously told me about that. Recently in march, I had finished my class and was trying to get back into class. I was unable to do so entirely, so I contacted the school to no avail. I asked for a call back and they never do call back. So I continued contacting them until someone awnsered. Finally I was told that it was because my gpa had dropped too low for GI bill standards even thought I had just passed my last class and my gpa had not changed, they then told me I had to start the reinstatement process. So I did. The next time I called I was told it was in fact not my GPA but it was a payment they were expecting that I had not been informed of. Which could have been payed had they informed me. While on the phone with a representative from the school ,which was recorded, the rep told me that the email stating that information had never been sent. Confirming that I was in the dark the whole time and had been blind sided by them. I have been promised countless times to hear from them and never have. I have to wait on hold for hours to get to talk to anybody even when I have had meetings scheduled with them. They are inconsistent and horrible about communication.Business response

For reference, the complainant enrolled in the Digital Cinematography, Bachelor of Science program on February 28, 2022, and was administratively withdrawn on March 8, 2024.
After receiving this complaint, the University reviewed the complainants file. We can confirm that the complainant was charged correctly and in accordance with the terms in the enrollment agreement that she signed before beginning the program.
The complainant has concerns with her financial aid packaging. Our records indicate that when she began her program, her financial aid packaging had not been finalized, which impacted her veteran benefits application. The complainant informed us on March 15, 2022, that she had contacted the VA to relinquish other benefits and that her Chapter 33/Post 9/11 GI Bill benefits had begun processing. Once her benefits were processed by the VA, we were advised that the VA would cover her tuition up to 90% of the tuition charge. This gave her a $2,025.00 remaining balance in her first academic year. This was clearly communicated to the complainant on several occasions, and she was responsible for covering her financial balance to remain enrolled.
The complainant was advised that she would be withdrawn for not making tuition payments; however, the complainant stated that she would complete the ***** and use federal financial aid to cover her remaining balance. However, she did not complete the *****, and she did not pay her remaining tuition balance. Furthermore, the complainant accrued additional charges to retake courses she had failed, which further added to her remaining balance. Unfortunately, due to the extended period of nonpayment, and in accord with our student policies, the complainant was administratively withdrawn.
We hope this response was helpful in addressing the complainants concerns. If she has additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at ************.Initial Complaint

I attended Full Sail Online for one month and a few days after that in February of 2024. I literally attended one class during the second month during the first 3-4 days. I was told on the phone by admissions that the first month was a "trial month" and that it would cost nothing, I was also given much lower figures for tuition than what they are currently attempting to bill me for which is $10,133.94. I am disabled and the government has forgiven my loans but I still get this from Full Sail when I wasn't even in attendance long enough to receive the project launchbox etc. I called them about this and was sent an email telling me to write a formal business letter to appeals and that it could take up to a year for them to reach a decision.Business response

Full Sail University. I'd like to start by saying I was very pleased with the actual process in the beginning. I was in the Music Production program. I got the very helpful care package of equipment that I believe is known as the launch box for $5k. It came with everything I needed to succeed as promised. I was entirely online and never went to campus to visit due to living in VA. I was fully aware that the total cost of the program was a little over $70k. However due to unforeseen circumstances I fell behind in school work and ultimately failed out after the first semester? (not sure because it's only a 2 year accelerated learning program) This was around 2019 when I started. I got the ***** Communications Certificate Program (added for free to help me feel better about failing out). When I was exiting the school I was told that my total for what I received was a little over $14k with all interest already accrued (which has held up). I've paid it down to $10.6k. My mother had a parent plus loan that she paid down. Now we are both being targeted by a federal loan for $14k MORE. So how on earth can I possibly owe $28k+ for barely making past 1 quarter of the program???Business response

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. I still don't understand how I can owe as much as I do though. How did I have to borrow money from FullSail AND a loan from the government at the same time? Wouldn't I have just needed the government loan and paid my tuition to FullSail? Oh well. Guess I'll just be in debt forever lol. Thanks for what little clarification you did give me.

Going in on a whole semester and this is my second bachelor with Full Sail. Come to find out this degree that Im in is NOT the degree me and my wife both told the representative I wanted to study. Seems the person on the phone who signed me up didnt clearly understand my request to study Audio Engineering as I requested. My wife was also on the phone before she went off to army officer training. Currently failed a class I shouldnt even have been in and when I contacted support to see why my class was so different and unsettling to my goals of targeting my studies; I then realized from my assigned liaison *********** in the wrong study . Yet me and my wife clearly told the representative I wanted audio engineering and he told me music production was a more advanced version and recommended it. I told him long as its my audio engineering bachelor study smh idk why I just could study my suggested course. Now i will owe for something I never even targeted to study. Idk if they were just excited to what?! When called someone told me at first to wait til July?? When this semester ends Feb? Almost as they are TRYING to charge again. Need a REASONABLE solution or adjustments or my degree fees, credits and reassignment of degree. This is disappointing fr. **Business response

I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with Full Sail University's handling of my enrollment and subsequent billing. Despite assurances that I wouldn't owe anything after dropping out early in the semester, I recently received a bill exceeding $10,000. This unexpected charge is particularly distressing as I am already indebted to student loans and have financial aid lended towards the school.Adding to my frustration is the delayed communication regarding a form for the certificate. It took the university months to reach out and provide the necessary documentation. The lack of transparency is further compounded by the fact that the university's app restricts access to relevant forms, making it impossible for me to review any pertinent information. Additionally, my attempts to seek clarification by phone have been consistently met with unhelpful responses, with claims that they are assisting other students, which I find to be deceptive. This situation not only places an undue financial burden on me but also adds to the existing strain. I kindly request a thorough investigation into this matter, a clarification of the billing discrepancies with the balance brought down to $0 as promised at my time of departure from the school, and prompt resolution of the issues at hand, including the delivery of my certificate that I had earned and paid for.Business response

Next my initial classes i signed up for were suppose to start in june i specifically chose this due to work and technology conflictions later reported to multiple staff memebers and Support/offices within the university....they fast forwarded that and started me in may on the 15th 2023 after signinng on the 1st of may. During this rushed start. i llost access to the laptop i was previoisly using and had to do all of my homework via a smartphone thats sscreen broke. Noted this to all staff and requested my *** be expedited they said no we dont give it out till you fnishing your firs 4 online classes....the classes i needed a laptop to access as my phone couldnt proccess it all. a *** i was promied before my classes were to start...not after my first 4 classes...they said under no circumstances do they give it out earlier than that...even though im doing online classes. section I. of the Enrollment agreement states we can be given it on as AS NEEDED BASIS. i NEEDED it as i no longer had the ability to do my classes attend lecture on zoom or even communicate witht the university other than by phone. which they rudely stopped all comms with me after suggesting legal help with my situation. to which they directed me to their lawyers and kicked me out.Business response

I never received the email communications from you regarding the follow up, so i apologize for the lateness of this. Regarding their response. I did not withdraw from the program, they KICKED me out after they refused to assist me instead ignoring me, and then sending me updates regarding my eventual removal from the school if i dont submit claswork (the work i could no longer produce) or attend classes which were being held at times i had work during the day, the reason why i chose the program, flexibility and i was allowed to watch classes after the fac hours later..... other than that....just telling me to find someone with a laptop i can borrow or change my job so i could access the library free computers near me. Instead of giving me the laptop i was promised, told time and time again i would receive, and it wasn't until AFTER i enrolled did they state that they no longer gave the laptops to people until they had completed 4 classes first.
due to indivduals in the past getting the laptop and not paying for it. So when i began to struggle with being able to do my assignments or even get on the portal to submit them or contact staff, they began to ignore my plea for help and kept insisting that although they CAN make exceptions they would not be for me. No matter what, and then would direct me to anotehr phone number to call and another office to never hear back from again.I have dozens of emails, text messages, recorded phone calls, as should they showing all of these things that they stated, as well as my extremely vulgar side that they forced to come out because they were so inept at doing their jobs...
..but you know 8 months after i began having issues and calling for help.....they decided to remove a percentage of what i owe to them out of good faith!!? the good faith would have been to give me the laptop i was requetin so i could continue my studies and get my degree like i intended to. and now because of this whole ordeal i have not started any new programs, i still dont have a fully up-to-date laptop like i was promised and had every intention on paying for seeing as i had loans already given to the school in my name.

Based on the Universitys refund policy, the complainants son was charged accurately for his date of withdrawal.
We have also reviewed our correspondence with the complainant and her son and see that there has been no communication since July 2023. We continue to offer our support services and hope to connect with the complainant regarding this matter. Our team is reaching out to the complainant to answer her questions.
We hope that this information was helpful in addressing the complainants concerns, and we wish her the very best.Customer response

We have tried to contact the school numerous times and are put on hold for over an hour and then the call drops.
******* enrolled in the *********** on 3/2/20. COVID was just happening and then the school was temporarily closed. He was forced to go to online. The school doesn't provide housing so he had an apartment he shared with other students who dropped out after losing their jobs ( from closing due to COVID). He was then forced to break his lease and move home to VA. He stayed online and we were sent paperwork that the online program was price was 29,419$. He struggled to keep up online and withdrew 1/21/22.
we are asking for the school to send an itemized cost of tuition, including the living expense checks to explain why they are charging us *********. We have tried to get this information many times and are also working with Aid Vantage as well. They refuse to release the information stating that while we owe them money they wont be able to.

Thank you for your email notification on January 16, ****, regarding case #********. We appreciate the opportunity to respond with additional information.
First, we encourage the complainant to reach out to our *********************** staff at the University to discuss the specifics of her loan amounts should she have additional questions.
In review of her sons enrollment history at the University and loan disbursements, the complainants loan balance is primarily a result of her borrowing for living expenses during her sons multiple enrollments and programs of study. Much of the loan balance is due to the elected living expense amounts that were borrowed. In fact, our records indicate that the complainant reached out to the University to receive the maximum amount available for living expenses for the Parent PLUS loan. Living expenses are in addition to tuition costs and were explained to the complainant throughout her sons multiple enrollments. Furthermore, the complainant signed the required loan documents, which outlined the terms of the Parent PLUS loan.
We continue to offer our support services and hope to connect with the complainant regarding this matter. We hope that this information was helpful in addressing the complainants concerns, and we wish her the very best.Initial Complaint

In the year of 2022, I was attending Full Sail University online. This was my very first experience with being in a college. But many things had me concerned about my decision. For instance, the college never did placement tests to know where an individual is at in math, science, English etc. instead they just threw me into a class and that was it. After so many months, I was having internet issues and tried to explain my situation with the college, hoping they would understand. My classwork never reached them, and thus resulted in kicking me out of the program and opening up many loans under my name without my permission or knowledge. This has ruined my credit and possibly my chances to get into a college that would actually give me the knowledge I wanted to pursue in a career. I would love to see how this situation can be resolved and restore my decisions to accelerate my studies at a different college that is in the town I live in as well as fix my credit.Business response

After receiving this complaint, the University reviewed the complainants file, which includes correspondences between the complainant and our faculty and staff. We also spoke with Full Sail staff members who had information regarding the complainants enrollment at the University.
After reviewing the complainants circumstances, we found that the complainant was charged correctly for the terms of her enrollment and withdrawal date in accordance with the enrollment agreement that she signed prior to beginning the program. ********************** notes that she was not given a placement test for enrolling in her program of study. The University responds that there is no placement test requirement for her program of study. Furthermore, our records indicate that ********************** did not meet the Universitys Maintaining Satisfactory Progress policy requirements during her enrollment. While the University outreached to ********************** on multiple occasions regarding her academic progress, our records indicate that she did not respond to our efforts and ultimately did not improve her academic standing. She was also fully informed of the terms of her loans, which she affirmed when she completed the loan entrance counseling and signed the master promissory note for her federal loans.
We hope that this information was helpful in addressing the complainants concerns, and we wish her the very best in her future endeavors.
