We've had Shred-It for years. Used to able to talk to a local person. I received an invoice in September 2024 that had charges on it from 7/10 & 7/23 at $6.17 each. I called to find out what these charges were. I was told by **** that they were duplicate charges and was given a credit# and told to deduct it from the invoice. In November 2024 I received an invoice for an overdue amount of $12.34. I emailed collections with no response on 11/5/24. I called again on 11/18/24 and spoke to *****, I was given a reference# and told it would be sent to a supervisor. I emailed collections again on 12/4/24 with no response. I emailed a customer service *** I had contact with when setting up another account on 12/31/24 with no response. I emailed the sales *** that signed my contracts and it was rejected by Stericycle. I called again on 1/7/25 and was told that the charges were legitimate and they needed to paid. They would not give me a credit for the charges or remove them from the account. We have two other accounts with Shred-it and when the contracts come due we will be cancelling all service with them. Their customer service is non existent. All over $12.34. If they would have explained to me the first time I called that these were charges that were missed on the prior invoices from July I would have researched it and paid them.I was told to deduct the charges, then the emails and mail started about past due charges. Very unsatisfied with the whole process and the time spent on the matter. We continue to get service because if I cancel the contract I would still have to pay until it expires. All I asked was for the charges to be credited on my next invoice as a courtesy for all my time and aggravation.Business response

I set up an account a year ago to get my sharps containers picked up. This company has never ever gotten anything right from day one. They have done one pick up and have tried to come on Mondays WHEN WE ARE CLOSED. I've called this company and emailed probably 20 times and these people do not care and they keep charging me for services that have not been received.I truly think this is the worst company I have ever dealt with and I want every dime I paid them for the service I have not received.Business response

Ordered Shred-It service for our business in May of 2024. Bins were not delivered as promised, after many calls the wrong bins were delivered. They were later ***laced with the correct bins following many more calls. Our billing has been incorrect from the start and continues to be incorrect. We have canceled service and our bins have been removed, my understanding is that you now show she service as being canceled as of 11/7/2024.. Our bills continue to be incorrect and do not reflect the agreed $65 per month for the service. I have called and emailed your customer service, our sales *** and your "retention" department and billing issues remain. The icing on the cake is a $50 fee for bin removal, when in fact Shred-It has failed to deliver on the service. Please confirm in writing that 1. Our service has been canceled. 2. That our invoice has been adjusted to reflect the $65 per month contracted rate for the service during the period in which we had the CORRECT bins. and 3. Credit the bin removal fee. Frankly given the horrific experience we endured you should credit the entirety of our invoice given the hours we have wasted with your dysfunctional company.Business response

We have contacted Stericycle, **** numerous times regarding their subsidiary company, Shred-It, which provides secure shredding services which is included on our monthly Stericycle invoices.There are several pending issues including:1. Unable to get them to stop billing our old account upon them establishing a new consolidated account for all our locations, so now we are being double billed for services.2. Unable to get them to schedule Shred-It (secure paper waste) pickup of one of our site locations that we are being billed for but have not been provided the service for many months.3. There is always mass confusion with the customer service support in regards to our account since they provide both our e-waste pick (provided through Stericycle) and secure paper shredding service through their subsidiary company, "Shred It". 4. We are not permitted to speak to a supervisor/manager in order to get our issues resolved.5. **************** support cannot provide any timeline on when our pending tickets will be handled by Shred-It and we have now submitted 3 tickets, so it's been going on a month.If we were not bound by the attached contract, we would have stopped using this vendor due to all the above issues.Business response

I used Steri cycle and Shred it in the past. I have cancelled service at 2 locations. I purchased my own shredder and because of my experience cancelling the shredder service, I have cancelled service with Stericycle. They came out last to my place of business May 2024. I keep getting invoices for work not being performed. I called last year and last paid September 2023. I have tried calling the company several times and after may phone trees and selections (wasting my time) I get hung up on. I would like my bill to be written off by Stericycle and Shred it. I do not wish to do business with them. I want the invoices to stop. They showed up at my office in ******* abut 2 weeks ago and I cancelled and haven't paid in over a year.Business response

On or about November 4, 2024 I was looking for a paper shredding company, as the one I had used previously is now closed. I came across Shred It - Stericycle, and received a quote. It was a much better price than taking 19 banker boxes to Staples, and Shred It - Stericycle said they would bring a truck to my location. I did not recognize the phone number that initially called, but I did check the voicemail right away and returned the call to my sales **** *****. I was thrilled when he said I could get this done for $7 per box. He also emailed me that it could be done ASAP, which is what I was looking for. I received a quote, and it said there was a $175 minimum, but I was still ok with that. After I agreed to hire the company, I was only able to speak with ***** or get an email one other time, as I could never reach him again, although I left multiple voicemails and emails. I called the Shred It - Stericycle company multiple times, and was finally able to get the shredding service scheduled. The truck came in a timely manner on the scheduled day, and I had no other issues. That is, until I received my invoice today - November 18, 2024. The invoice I received was $328.97. I was shocked, as I was expecting something very close to the $175 originally quoted. I called Shred It - Stericycle again this morning and was told they would try and get in touch with my sales **** but I told them I needed this escalated right away and, after the terrible customer service I had received for multiple calls, I would contact the BBB if it was not dealt with today. I was put on hold, then the call was disconnected. I truly hope they did not hang up on me.Business response

This company bills you for services not performed and then lies about when they have provided services I cancelled my service with them after five years. Then received a call from their rep ***** ***** with Shred-it stating that my contract auto renewed in April 2024 for another five years. This is not something I did voluntarily. I read 335 complaints that had similar situations. How did the BBB give them an A+ rating!?Business response

I called in August of 2024 to set up Shredding and medical waste disposal for a new nursing home, I asked the *** for the smallest amount of pick up options available. We didn't open till October but needed to have a contract in place to open, Docusign was sent and I signed it. when I received my first bill in October I immediately called and asked for an explanation they said I signed up for online **** safety training per the upload the contract looks like medical waste pick up but it was not, apparently, it is for 13 months of online training. Which I do not need for my business, nor did I want it, I asked them to please fix this and just pick up my medical waste, they said they were not able to manage accounts and to call and email my account manager. I did. Oct 12th, no response. someone else emails me tells me he will try to get osha training removed and sends me new contract for 13 pickups, I asked for 2 pickups and now he won't email me back or return my calls either. Have not paid my bill yet because I have only been charged for services I didn't ask for or used.Business response

We entered into an agreement for shredding services. When I realized that we were eligible for Omnia pricing, which was significantly less expensive, I requested that we be moved to that pricing platform. After several months of negligence on the vendors part, we still were being charged for the higher price service. When it was finally moved to the correct pricing, I requested that they bill us accordingly back to the date of my first request for Omnia pricing. While some small adjustments were made, under the Omnia pricing agreement, we would have only been billed per pick up every 8 weeks. Instead we had 4 monthly invoices despite only having two pick **** I requested that they adjust the bills again and was told this would not happen. After having no response to my last email at all, including confirmation that our account had been removed from collections, which happened during the time I was trying to work with them to adjust the invoices and agreement.Business response

Cancellation of service as of 10/31 requested several times starting 10/6/24 due to firm closure. Company confirmed cancellation request via email, states they will call, have never followed through aside from emails stating the matter is completed. During the last phone conversation (initiated by me) they said the service would be cancelled and bin would be removed 11/8 and not replaced. Bin was replaced, company has not contacted us again as promised (within 2 working days, last call to them was 11/1/24). We have sent an email letting them know that we will pay no invoices beyond the 11/8/24 service date and would like the bin removed immediately.Business response
