Sales person flat out lied to get us to sign up. He told my husband and I that they won’t hold us to any contract if we want to cancel. We have tried repeatedly to cancel and they are making us pay for the entire year. They give us same days notice before they come out, no sooner. Treatment doesn’t even work, and they burned our grass. I have never dealt with a company this unprofessional and dishonest.Joshua's Pest Control Response

Tried to cancel after a year of services. Mailed my request, as instructed in the contract, to the address listed on the contract. Came back as they had moved and forwarding time had expired. Mailed a 2nd letter to the "new" address in Algonquin, IL.. Also came back as an incomplete address. Mailed a 3rd letter to the site Google lists for them in Molena, Ill. Based on previous experience not very hopeful that will go thru. Have now blocked them on my credit card but they'll probably find a way around that and still bill me. I think this may be a good candidate for a Small Claims Court case?Review from Jo G

The Moxie employee who inspected our attic presented it as a serious mice infestation. He used photos from our attic to illustrate. He warned that mice might get into the walls if the problem was not taken care of. He calculated the cost, gave us a “discount" because one of us had been a teacher, & presented us with the cost of $16,838. He said his team was booked for several weeks out, but he had an opening on October 31. Because we were told the infestation was serious & could compromise our home, we quickly agreed to the price & the installation date and signed the contract. The team that arrived on Oct 31 consisted of a supervisor & about 4 other people. They arrived after 8:00 am & left around 3:00 pm. We noticed that several workers were often just standing around & not actively engaged in the job. We wondered why so many people were needed for this job. After the job was finished, we asked about the severity of the infestation. The supervisor indicated that it wasn’t bad and that he’s seen worse. We asked him if he saw any mice & he said no. This caused us to question the charges and do some research. Our warranty says 137 bags of TAP insulation were used. Home Depot sells TAP insulation for $630 per 36 bags. Using this cost, we calculate the cost of the insulation materials to be $2520. We did some Internet research as well. Forbes says that the average labor cost for insulation is $40-$70/hour. If we take the high cost of $70, then 5 people comes to $350/hr. Installation time was 7 hours, so the labor charge should be $2450. Moxie's agreement is very simplistic & does not break down the cost for materials & labor. The agreement says $6000 for insulation removal, $9000 for installation of TAP insulation, & $1838 for “other fees.” Materials: $2520, Labor: $2450, Other fees as stated on the agreement: $1838. This totals $6808, which is far less than the $16,838 we were charged.Joshua's Pest Control Response

Jen we looked at the account, the customer has the 3 day buyers right if they decide they do not want to move forward with the agreement. Which it was not addressed that you were not satisfied with the initial quote given to you .Review from John V

These guys are scammers. They did a free attic inspection, and told me I had roof rats and that it was urgent I acted quickly to get them out. Quoted $10,800 and tried to get me booked for the next day. I got second opinions and found out from multiple sources that roof rats do not live in MN, they're found in coastal warmer climates like Florida and New York City. Turns out there were just mice in the attic, which another company charged $349 to remediate. Can't imagine how many elderly people have been scammed by this.Joshua's Pest Control Response

Roof rats found inside homes and make their nests in attics, above ceilings, and in upper cabinets. This should be able to remediate with our regular pest controls subscription but if you want any long time results insulation is the way to go.Review from Txhia W

It's best to avoid this company. Do not sign or agree to a contract, as it is difficult to break. Make sure you are not pressured into buying like I was. Pay close attention to the wording, as the cost of all the treatments adds up. The service contract is very expensive. Not very good practice and they know it. If this is how they do business, karma.Joshua's Pest Control Response

Avoid Joshua and moxie pest control! Total scam! I had a sale person from Joshua’s came to my door and pressure me into buying their termite control because they stated I have termites in the lawn. And they stated I can cancel anytime, and that was a lie! Afterwards they said they could remove the traps but we would have to continue to pay the monthly $200 charge. Totally 2,400 for 2 years. They took advantage of an older woman on a fixed income.Joshua's Pest Control Response

This company is a scam! Guy came to my door trying to sell me, I stated that I wouldn't need a year of service just through the summer months. He said to sign up for the year and I would get the first service at $99 and then I could cancel at any time without any penalty. I asked " so I would only be charged for the services I receive correct? I am not locked into an entire year right? He stated no sir, you are not locked into a full year if you cancel." Well here we are and when I try and cancel, Kaitlyn argues with me and says " did you read over your entire agreement?" So what she means is did I read all of the fine print. Now she says I am on the hook for the entire year and need to pay another $393 of services that I never received. This is such a scam and I will notify my HOA and the city of Eureka, Mo to let them know exactly what type of company is screwing people over in our neighborhood and our city. Oh, and by the way, they call themselves Joshua's pest control but when you call they answer as Moxie pest control. Another red flag.Joshua's Pest Control Response

Scam!!!! I was charged over $600 for service. Only came few times in summer with poor quality. Still had wasp and spiders everywhere. Hidden cancellation fees. They had to reschedule service multiple times. I thought we were just having onetime service for $90. After signing service never got contract information and when ask about additional charges never got any reasons why from customer service. I would like refund.Joshua's Pest Control Response

There is nothing for zero stars. This was terrible. Had a guy come to the door offer discounted service for 169 with 99 up front. Paid it, they then came back. Charged me another 169, then another 169 and I went to cancel and they stated I was “locked in”. Total bait and switch. Told me I could cancel at any time. They then charged my credit card 600 dollars. Total disaster and scam company. Bait and switch. Reported them for fraudulent charges and cc company is involved. Zero stars. Terrible company. Never even treated us and still have bugs.Joshua's Pest Control Response
