i did not have any liability to rent grow **** and did not have a contract with this company. and I requested information regarding anything related to my credit history, they did not respond. I demand that this be removed from my credit report and any other related reports.Business response

RentGrow provided a complex completely wrong and very inaccurate information that led to me being denied housing, They have a 1.1 BBB rating for a reason. They have been sued multiple times for this exact deceptive practices reason!Business response

I applied with a apartment complex that uses Rent Grow **** I completed the application and was denied. I called the company to inquire why my application was denied. I was told that they would send me a report. They sent the report which had OLD outdated credit information that was deleted and nonexistent on my credit report for years. I called the apartment complex whom advised me that i had to file a dispute with Rentgrow. I filed a dispute, but i also looked at their reviews and its other consumers experiencing the same trouble. This is illegal and seems like discrimination to deny applicants.Business response

I am filing a complaint against RentGrow **** regarding an unreasonable delay in processing my background check for an apartment application. I applied for an apartment on 12/31/2024 and was informed that all aspects of my application, including income, credit, and civil record checks, were approved. However, my criminal background check, specifically involving California records, remains incomplete.I contacted RentGrow to request an update and was informed that the delay is due to the California court system. While I understand there may be external factors contributing to the delay, I believe RentGrow has a responsibility to provide timely service or offer alternative solutions in cases where prolonged delays are negatively impacting customers.This delay has caused me significant hardship. I am unable to move into my apartment, which has forced me to spend money on hotels while waiting for the background check to clear. Additionally, I am starting a new job and need a confirmed address for my daughters school enrollment.RentGrow has not offered any resolution or alternative to expedite this process, and the lack of transparency and responsiveness has added unnecessary stress to an already difficult situation. I am seeking assistance from the BBB to ensure RentGrow improves its processes for future customers and to help expedite my background check as soon as possible.Thank you for your attention to this matter.Business response

Rentgrow (I spoke with *****) furnished fraudulent information against me which rendered me homeless. After over 40 days of this ****, I was finally able to work with Experian to file a report for the fraudulent write off but on Friday December 20th rent grow refused to remove. I conferenced in Experian who confirmed that the updated information from rent grow had been sent. Rent grow should decease from aiding and abetting apartment complexes in IRS tax fraud and consumer fraud by furnishing fraudulent data and subsequently making it near impossible for the consumer to remove said data. It is my hope that state, local and federal authorities will prevent this company from continuing to defraud and render consumers homeless in this manner. Additionally ***** lied on the call about the receipt of the information. Unacceptable!Business response

In 2022, my identity was stolen while traveling for work. My car was broken into, and critical documents such as my Social Security card, passport, ID, and credit cards were stolen. I immediately reported the incident to the police and documented the theft with photos. Since then, I have been a victim of identity theft, facing fraudulent tax filings, unauthorized account openings, and disruptions to my existing *********** support my claims, I have the following documentation:IRS Identity Theft Affidavit Two FTC Identity Theft Reports (2022 and 2024)A police report I recently applied for an apartment at a new complex, which uses RentGrow for tenant screening. My application was denied due to issues caused by fraudulent accounts appearing on my credit report. I appealed the decision with RentGrow, providing comprehensive documentation to prove that the accounts were fraudulent.However, RentGrow took unauthorized and inappropriate actions that worsened the situation:Unauthorized Disputes: RentGrow filed disputes with Experian without my permission. I did not authorize them to act on my behalf or contact Experian.Failure to Follow FCRA Section 605B: Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), fraudulent accounts should be blocked within four business days of receiving proper documentation. RentGrow ignored this process and instead initiated a standard 30-day dispute, delaying resolution significantly.Obstruction of Corrective Action: RentGrows unauthorized dispute has blocked me from filing the proper FCRA 605B dispute with Experian myself. This delay has left me unable to address these inaccuracies promptly and ********* current lease expires on December 16, leaving me only days to secure housing. RentGrows actions have created unnecessary delays, jeopardizing my ability to secure a new apartment. The consequences of their failure to comply with **** guidelines and their unauthorized interference are severe and could leave me without a place to live.Business response

I am writing to formally dispute the information provided by RentGrow as part of my tenant screening process on Nov 22, 2024, which has resulted in the denial of my rental application.I have worked diligently to improve my financial standing, including filing for bankruptcy in 2019 and subsequently paying off collections. My credit score has significantly improved, and I have maintained a strong rental history. My most recent lease (2022) was for 15 months, during which I made all payments on time and in full.Despite these efforts, RentGrow is reporting inaccurate or misleading information that does not reflect my current financial and rental status. These errors have directly contributed to my rental application being unfairly denied. I request a thorough investigation of the information reported, immediate correction of any inaccuracies, and a revised report sent to the relevant parties.I also request a copy of the specific data and sources used in the tenant screening report to better understand and address these discrepancies.Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. RentGrows response does not address the issue at hand, which I find to be an unfair and inaccurate reflection of my current qualifications as a tenant. The items in question stem from a bankruptcy that occurred nearly six years ago. It is important to note that this bankruptcy has already been resolved and is no longer indicative of my financial responsibility.
Additionally, I have already faced significant consequences, including a two-year period during which I was unable to rent. I have since demonstrated my responsible rental payment history, which I believe should be given appropriate weight in this evaluation.

I am currently experiencing a problem with Rent Grow who is acting in the image as a ************* by not accepting my credit score from Experian and decreasing my score due to their unknown policy for the consumer. I am currently experiencing a problem with my *** payoff in the amount of $31,339.00 from ***************, from their underwriter for the *** Policy that I purchased through *************** at the time of my vehicle purchase prior to my car wreck on 11.15.23. Currently pursuing action with regard to *************** $31,339.00 with BBB of ************************** COMPLIANT 22423311.Rent Grow in *********, states in their narrative information that they provide tenant screening reports to Property Owners and managers, but does not set applicant eligibility criteria for property. I do not feel that they have authority to alter the ********************** information and not provide a justification and continue to send denial letters to me. I would like to know what is the Applicant Eligibility Criteria. Why dont I not qualify with no late rent payments, to return to the property after handling a family emergency. Time Line of Event upon reapplying in Sept for Oct.1st Denial - 9/22/24 *Fraudulent Civil Court History Removed *Risk Score in Conditional Range - What is the appropriate Risk Score and Conditional Range? 10/22/24 *Risk Score in Conditional Range - AGAIN What is the appropriate risk score since I did not fall beyond Conditional Range/ *Income does not meet property requirements. I submitted retirement information for my 2 yearly Annuities in the amount of $78,500.00. Much less income from when I was a tenant in 2022.Request assistance in obtaining details.Business response
