I am contacting BBB because I would like to file a complaint against the Quick Response Towing Inc. at 531 S. Caton Ave and the ******* ** **** ** ******* **. The signs posted around the parking lot clearly state that one must remain on property of the store in order to avoid being towed. I followed the rule and still my car got towed on October 1st 2024 at approximately noon. I noticed a security officer at the entrance to ******* and a tow truck for QRT in the parking lot (in violation of Md. Code, Transp. § 21-10A-04 (a)(7)). Despite having a receipt from Safeway, both entities claim that my entire party walked off property and they claim ******* made a call for the owner of my car while I was inside of the store. Neither of which happened to my or my party's recolation. I spoke with four different people at QRT about their towing policy, as well as two different ******* employees including the manager. All six individuals gave conflicting information, including about what the signs themselves say. When I asked for further clarification of wrongdoing and showed my receipt to QRT staff, QRT reiterated the cost of the car tow and to please hand over my license. When I asked to see my car and take pictures ensure no damage had occured (as is my right under Md. Code, Transp. § 21-10A-05 subsection (c)(3)(1)), I was told no such law exists and I could contact Baltimore City Towing Board if I had any complaints. When I asked for the Board's number QRT told me I could have it after I paid them. When I did retrieve my car and I asked for my receipt where the Board's number would be, QRT threatened to tow me again. I've already contacted the Baltimore City Towing Board to file a complaint with them as well. Is there a public record of complaints against Quick Response Towing Inc? I request you forward any information you have on such an information base. Thank you for filing my complaint.

Dear Quick Response Towing, I am writing to you in the hopes of resolving this matter between us without having to go to court. On Thursday July 18, 2024, my KIA Sorento was towed from ******** while I was still inside the ******** establishment or within the parking lot. I am seeking to retrieve the $370 towing fees that I unjustly paid. I want to believe that this can still be solved without having to take the legal route. That said, I must inform you that if I do not hear from you by July 27, 2024 then I will have no other choice but to take legal action against you. In the event of a lawsuit, I intend to seek redress to the fullest extent allowed by law, including but not limited to additional damages, court costs, legal fees, and accrued interest. I would much prefer to work something out with you. Please consider my request. Sincerely, ******

The event occurred from the dates of September 29th to September 30th 2023. Towing company took two vehicles from private property without requesting permission from property owner or notifying business which is required by baltimore county code of ordinances. We are NOT pursuing action regarding the legality at this time. Company was intentionally negligent. Company ignored calls from business owner of the lot the vehicles were towed from and attempted to trick us into signing a release of liability form. We did not sign. Company was negligent in towing of two awd vehicles. Improper towing can damage major components of the vehicles that may not show for a period of time. One of the vehicles has scratches and marks that we do not recognize from prior to the towing and began shifting to the right slightly on roads. We are retaining dash cam footage at this time.

This complainant is very vague. It makes accusations without an ounce of proof. He claims that we were intentionally negligent. That’s a huge accusation, and without proof this could be a civil complaint against him. There are so many unanswered questions here. Does this gentleman own both cars that were towed ? Where were they towed from ? What kind of cars are they ? We need a lot more, including solid proof of serious accusations before we can litigate this complaint properly.

Our vehicles were towed on September 29th, 2023 without permission from the property owner which is required by the Baltimore county code of ordinances. The two vehicles in question were a gmc Sierra and mazda cx5. The vehicles were released on September 30th, 2023. If you need more details, you may reach out. You should have details of the towing on file and cctv footage of the interaction. We do have recordings of the operators taking both vehicles without the initial usage of dollies and the property owner testimony that she was not contacted in regards to this instance nor given any notice. Again, we are not seeking action regarding the legality of this instance.

    Sincerely,

    ****

I had parked my car in a parking lot across the line. They had towed the car they stated at 11:40pm. I woke up at 2am and realized it was towed, called them and they stated $350.00. It's already hard out here for people and I know it didn't cost $350 for them to drive it 6 minutes away. When I got to the counter to pay the $350, they told me at 3:10am that because they picked up before 12, I had to pay the next day fees of $15.00. That is honestly ridiculous especially because they had the car no more than 3-4 hours. Over charging and making people pay a ridiculous amount is crazy to me! When I got my car my alarm had went off for about 3 days until I realized they hauled it away so bad, the security alarm was activated.

Actually the car got to the lot at 11:59pm. So for one minute it cost me $15.00 extra is unreal!

My vehicle was illegally towed. They had my vehicle for 2 hours & charged me $360.00 because I'm a Baltimore city resident. Otherwise they said the fee was $250.00. This has to be unethical & illegal. That had my vehicle less then 2 hours & charged as if they had it a week.

I have a handicap placard. I parked in a handicap space at St. Agnes Prof. Bldg. 3455 Wilkens Ave. Baltimore Md. 21229 on Wednesday July 20 at around 5:00 PM went inside the building to Voshell's Pharmacy to pick up my medicine. I was in the building no longer than 5 minutes. When I came out Quick Response Towing driver was in the process of hooking up my car. I said excuse me that's my car. The driver said your parked in a handicap space. I said I have a handicap placard but I forgot to hang it from my mirror. I went in my glove box and got it and showed it to him. He said well it was'nt displayed so I have to tow our car. The fee is $350.00 dollars. I said I just forgot to hang it up but that does'nt change the fact that I am allowed to park here. He said that's not my problem what do you want to do. I told him I did'nt have $350.00. He said well since you got here before I towed it you can pay half price $175.00. I called Quick Response office and explained my situation and an extremely rude woman said sorry that's not my problem. I told the driver I only had $165.00. He said he would take that and stopped picking up my car. I can't believe it's appropriate for me to have to pay them $175.00 to NOT TOW MY CAR when all I did was forgot to display my placard. I consider their policy and practice to be PREDATORY. Do they just drive around and look for a car that THEY think is parked illegally and hook it up and charge people these rediculous fees.

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/07/27) */ Contact Name and Title: Robert ******* Contact Phone: XXX-XXX-XXXX Contact Email: **********@comcast.net Hello , Mr. ******** by his own admission forgot to have his handicap placard displayed like required by law. The driver picked up the vehicle for this violation. When Mr. ******** came out, the driver was already hooked and ready to go. State law requires that if the motorist catches you while on the property, you must offer a half price drop fee. That is what was offered here, and even 10 dollars less by Mr. Campbells admission. Also I listened to the recorded phone conversations and didn't hear anything to be considered rude coming from my staff. In conclusion the tow was legal, and he gave the Gentleman a 10 dollar refund. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/08/11) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) I have a legal right to park were I was. I have a handicap placard to prove this.I have questions I would like to have Quick Response answer in a formal setting. Thank you!!
