We were quoted one price and charged another. We have everything in writing. If we weren’t closing on house we would have not paid them a dime. Our roof was damaged during hurricane ian they came out gave us a quote. They found out what the insurance would cover before they depreciated it and charged us full amount when they should have charge us from the original quote. This company should not be in business. They just rip people off.

We appreciate you bringing your concerns to light.  We have done some research on your particular insurance claim and closing process along with our billing and have determined we would like to find a remedy for both parties and make sure everyone is in full understanding.  In no way was the intention of "ripping" any one off.  We have attempted to contact the homeowner with no response but we are attempting to reach them to discuss the appropriate refund and will initiate that process upon further communication.  We apologize for any confusion and hope to find an acceptable remedy to their concerns.  Thank you for your patience. I signed a contract with ***** ******* with Aspen Contracting on 5.10.2022 to repair damage to my house at **** **** ***** ****** ******** ** ***** from a hail storm on 4.4.2022. The main asphalt roof had already been repaired by the insurance company's contractors. This contract called for replacement of my screen porch roof, carport roof, golf cart garage roof, siding on the west side on the house, gutters and downspouts. The total was $`13,118.45 plus change orders. No work had started when I went back to Michigan on May 25. I called ***** occasionally during the summer for progress reports but there was always an excuse why nothing was done. He called me on July 20 to say the screen porch roof was done and I paid $6,000 over the phone onto my credit card. I arrived back in Sebring on Oct. 27 and no more work had been done. ***** had left the area and wasn't answering or returning my calls. On Nov. 28 another company's contractor came out to look at the damage for an estimate. He looked at the roof of the screen porch and said it had been patched with a skim coat and looked to be about a $1,500 job. I would like a refund of $4,500 because the proper work was not done. I do not want them to complete the work because I no longer trust them to do a competent job.

Dear customer, we appreciate your bringing this matter or our attention.  We apologize in our delayed response as we were researching the claim against the representative mentioning their property insurance claim and work completed.  We always strive to provide the best service to the customer and it seems as though in this particular case our standards fell below expectations.  We are agreeing to make refund to the property owner as requested and our office will be in touch about how that will be sent.  We apologize this transaction did not go as expected but we do appreciate you bringing it to our attention so that we can make internal changes to avoid this in the future.  Customer is always welcome to contact our office at ************ for updates.  Thank you for your patience.

    see Attached document

I have been having issues and with the company Aspen Contacting, Inc. (**** ******* **) and felt that the BBB is the best place to report this to.
    For the past year, this is what we've been dealing with, with Aspen;
*** **** spoke with us before construction started and stated that if we went with Aspen, he would supervise the workers to make sure everything is done correctly and to our standards. He promised that if there were any issues we could call him at any time of day and he would make sure it was taken care of, no matter what. He said he would put new soffit and fascia, shingles and siding. He said that when replacing the shingles, if there was any damage to the roof, he would replace what needed to be replaced and fix what needed to be fixed.
Recently when ******* came to check our lifted shingles, she said that it was p***ably because our roof was old and damaged and was not fixed. She also said that Aspen does not replace soffit and fascia.
At the beginning of the construction, our shelves, photos, frames, TV, and the hand-made urn containing my late husband's ashes, made by his grandmother, were all knocked off of the wall and broken. When I brought this up to ***, he said that there was no way they were pounding that hard on the walls and basically called me a liar. When I brought this up to ***, he said that everybody was supposed to receive a letter in the mail stating to remove everything off of the walls before construction for this reason, but said that he knows I didn't receive one. He asked how much money it was worth, but a lot of it is handmade family heirlooms that should have gone to my kids, grandkids, great-grandkids- how do you put a price on that?
The frames around our windows have a gap and no seal/caulk and lack insulation, causing the cold air in the winter to leak in and made all of our windows frost up from the inside and out. I had to buy 6 spaceheaters (one for each room), plastic wrap to keep the cold air out, and insulation strips for the same reason, just to be comfortable in our own home. When I brought this up to ***, he said it was because the house is old. When I brought it up to the other men, they said it's a window p***lem; that out windows weren't installed correctly the first time. Never in the past 15 years that I've lived in this house, with these old windows, have we ever had a cold air leak. When I brought this up to *******, she took one look and said that there was no insulation around them. *** told us previously that they don't use insulation.
The siding has over 50 visible seams, with gaps, just in the front of the house. When I brought this up to ***, he said that this is how it should look and that whoever did our siding before him did it wrong. When I brought this up to ***, he agreed that it was excessive, and said that he could have someone replace some pieces with longer strips of siding to not look so bad. When we talked to *******, she said that it was the house "shifting" and that "Vinyl needs to breathe." My son does siding and floors in California and when we told him, he said that only hard wood needs to "breathe", not vinyl. He is not trying to get money from us so I do take his word for it. ******* showed us a photo of our old siding and 2 visible seams but that was after 18 years. This is after 8 months, and they were showing immediately. I talked to Aubrie (from Farmers Insurance) about this and she said I should ask if they used seamless siding. When my daughter asked ***, he said first that there is "no such thing" as seamless siding. Minutes later he said that we didn't receive seamless siding because we didn't request it.

*** admitted via email that he failed to supervise and take photos, yet ******* presented me the photo that "*** took" and was time-stamped. I'm not sure how he predicted the future.
I bought a new car the day before Thanksgiving to be able to visit family for the holiday, but I ended up with 6 holes in the tire the first day I drove it into the driveway because the Aspen crew left nails, staples, and broken siding fragments throughout our driveway. I had been using my neighbors driveway until the dumpster was removed, but *** claimed the job was done even while the dumpster was still in gaour driveway. After it was removed, *** said again that the job is finished, but I ended up with holes in my tires. When I brought this up to ***, he first said that he doesn't believe us because the photos weren't "time stamped", and that we didn't "tell him right awaV'. I literally texted him MINUTES after I found the nails and then sent a time-stamped photo. He said that his crew couldn't clean up because it was too cold and that the mess was covered by snow.
Then our house numbers were not replaced- we found the numbers scattered throughout the yard and driveway. Again, this was after the job was claimed "finished" by ***. When someone did come around to replace them, they replaced them crooked. I sent a photo to *** (l believe) to show how sloppily they were done and he had someone come back to fix them. It was a Sunday and I was just about to walk out of the door when I could hear the men outside the door fixing the numbers and loudly talking badly about me, about having to come fix these numbers, and about wasting their time. This was hurtful and unprofessional. I told *** (?) and he said he would talk to his workers about this.
With all 3 men from Aspen that I talked to, I asked for everything to be written either through e-mail or via text, just so I could have proof of everything and to have record that everything I needed was actually talked about. After this request, each time, the communication stopped there.
I also asked all 3 men, and *******, for a list of the materials that were actually used on the house, not what *** said WOULD BE used, but what was actually used. I still have not received one. ******* actually told me that the list wouldn't prove what was actually used anyway.
My daughter and I were planning on selling the house and moving closer to family- we even had a house and jobs lined up. After seeing the state of this house after Aspen's horrific job, we were not able to sell because we would have had to take a huge price cut, and had to give up our jobs and house.
Losing the heirlooms and irreplaceable items at the beginning of the job were bad enough because all we needed was that one letter to prevent the loss, now we had to give up our move and jobs too.
I am extremely heart-broken and disappointed in the job Aspen did, I just want others to see what I were told was my imagination and fault of my old house. My mother lives next-door and also had her roof replaced by Aspen and had none of the issues I had- this leaves me to believe that it's not "just me" or "this is just how things are done these days" (which I was told by ***, ***, *****, and *******), and that it was just a lazy, sloppy, unsupervised job.
Most recently, my insurance company informed me that Aspen took money to fix our deck, replace our garage door, replace our screen doors, and replacing the HVAC. They didn't do any of this. They scammed me and scammed my insurance company by taking the money and lying about what it was for. I feel as if they should pay back my insurance company for the money they stole, and I feel as if the money I still owe ($5,000) should be waived. I shouldn't have to pay for this negligence, plus I had to use money out of my own pocket to replace and fix everything they destroyed from inside my house.

As of 06/20/2022 Aspen has returned to fix a few mistakes, and once again left multiple nails and staples in my driveway that could have potentially popped my tires AGAIN. ******* texted me and said that she made sure they were cleaned up. This has been happening for a year.
As of 06/27/2022, they have not fixed any more mistakes and claim that they're finished, because "[my] insurance company said that they did a good job and that nothing is wrong" which is a lie because ******** ****** (my insurance agent) had me file a claim for damages and depreciation, and apologized for their poor job. *** Wetherby emailed me claiming that I received $33,000 to pay Aspen, which never happened. He even claimed that this amount was "more than needed" and would leave me with extra to have the repairs done. At the beginning, *** told us that anything that needed to be repaired, they would just repair during the first installation. Now *** is saying that if anything needs to be repaired, I need to pay out of pocket. I'm sure that they're not planning to finish the repairs because they think that they are getting paid $33,000. I was told at the initial meeting with *** that I (or whoever else owns the home after me) could call 24/7, for the next 20 years if in need of any repairs. That must have been another lie.
I'm going to send along photos in this envelope; if there is anything I missed it will be in the photos either circled or with a short description.
    Thank you for understanding.

We are working with the homeowner to address concerns.

    Customer response

    08/04/2022

    Better Business Bureau,
Since the last time we sent a list of probems and attached photos of the damage, there has been more
damage done to my house with no repairs and the business relationship has taken a drastic turn.
We started out with ****** ****. The first thing we told ****** was the fact there wasn’t any wrap to put
around the house. He told us that we were being ridiculous. He said he put 2 layers of wrap for extra
protection we told him we were charged for it and it was never delivered and was never put on my
house. We tried to tell *** and ***** also and they told me there was wrap on the house and garage.
When the siding fell off over the weekend, there was NO wrap under the siding. ******* took off the
siding on the other side of the house to show us why the siding was warped, she tried to tell us its due
to our house being old, and the fact the siding needed to breathe and its click and lock siding, so it just
snaps on and off, but we have the photos she took and emailed to us, NO wrap. She also sent us another
photo of her removing a corner of the siding and showing us she put up a square of wrap. WHY is she
putting up wrap when there was already wrap on the house and garage? Also, we showed her where
the siding is a few inches away from the windows and the cold air blows into our house. She told us that
is because there is NO wrap around the windows. We have emails from ****** that said he did not take
pictures, nor did he supervise the crew, so he doesn’t know what happened.
On the front of the house there are over 50 seams that have separated. We were told some of those
strips could be longer so there would not be so many seams. ***** did tell us that was an excessive
    number of seams.
******* brought a crew over to our house and we watched live security cameras as her worker kicked
our garage door. We immediately texted her to tell her we are watching them and saw him kick the
door. Her reply was that he was “Pointing” with his foot. Our garage door is scratched and dented. We
will send pictures. Also, she told us she cleaned up the nails twice We found two handfuls of nails in
front of our garage. She said the nails must have been on the inside of the garage where they were. We
asked why they were inside my garage. She didn’t have an answer. She did ask if we would allow her to
go into our garage to look for more nails. We told her no, she needs to stay out of our garage unless we
are home. She made it a point to tell us they could not touch the electrical box on the front of the
garage. She said they are not electricians and could not help us with the electrical box. This doesn’t
make sense because to put on the siding, the electrical box would have to be moved. Somehow, they
even messed up the electrical box. We were told by ******* it’s not her problem, we would have to hire
an electrician and they are expensive, but she would find some names for us to call. Our garage door
quit working that day. We are unable to open it unless by hand.
We were also told wood would have to be placed under the siding. No wood would have to be replaced
if the house would have been wrapped and the gutters working. There was no protection on the house
and with no gutters, the water was running under the siding and warping the wood.
****** told me when he started if they found any part of the walls or roof that needed to be replaced,
they would replace it. Apparently, that was a lie. But again, ****** also said he didn’t supervise anyone,
so he didn’t know what they did. ****** also said in an email that we have, it was too cold to work, that
was the reason his crew did not clean up. He also said there was too much snow on the ground to find
the nails. Should the siding and shingles have gone up if the weather was too cold and snowing? That
could be why the siding on the house is in such bad condition. Then we had two blizzards and it rained 5
inches with no gutters on. The gutters still leak. We sent pictures to the President/CEO. He didn’t reply.

Shingles are falling off, ******* got up on the roof and pulled up on the shingles. She said the shingles
are supposed to “give”. She took glue on the roof and started gluing down the shingles. We told her the
shingles are hanging off the roof on the sides. Her reply was that our shingles were too long, that is why
they overlapped and hung off the side. WHY are the shingles too long? Why are they hanging off the
roof? Why won’t anyone fix the shingles??
Last fall we had job offers in a different state. We were going to sell our home, but with the disaster we
had with Aspen, we couldn’t sell. This spring we were going to sell and move again and once again, the
damage has not been fixed. We still can’t sell. This has been going on for over a year.
When ******* came to the house, I told her I have pictures and she told me she will take her own
pictures. She did not take any pictures from the damage. She would find one spot less damaged and
take that picture. I even asked her if she was going to take pictures of the actual damage and she said
    she was.
Our expectations were for our house to get siding, shingles, and the gutters properly installed. When
that didn’t happen, we expected at least a discount. I had to hire my son to drive up from California 3xs
to help me out. Once when they knocked everything off my wall, generations of heirlooms, urn, vases,
knickknacks, etc. to patch up my wall and help us clean up. Once when the house had cold air blowing
in through the windows to insulate my house. The last time when the garage door didn’t open anymore.
I am not hiring anyone else. Aspen has been such a negative experience. I don’t trust anyone anymore
except my son in Southern California. Each trip is $5,000. I had the cost of replacing all heirlooms broken
and the cost of heating bills. We bought a new car and day one we got a flat and couldn’t drive it for 2
days due to Thanksgiving holiday. ****** told us if we hired his company, we could call him 24/7 for the
next 20 years. Apparently, the contract states this. We call and nobody responds.
We live along a very busy bypass on 26 th street. People can see the damage from the highway. I have had
neighbors ask me if I know my siding is falling off. I have also asked the neighbors and my friends if they
see the damage or if its just me. Even other contractors have told me my house is severely damaged.
All they had to do to prevent this was put the wrap on, install the gutters properly, and properly install
the shingles. This could have all been prevented and put behind us. Instead they keep name calling and
damaging more of my property with each visit.
    What I need done now;
    1. I need to have Aspen send an experienced crew to our house to complete the entire house.
    2. If they are unable to do a satisfactory job, they need to hire another company to do the repairs
    and pay for that crew.
    3. I need to have the shingles redone with shingles that are the proper size and not hanging off the
    roof.
    4. I need to have the gutters replaced with proper gutters that don’t leak. How can new gutters
    already be cracked and leaking?
    5. I need to have the siding replaced. Wrap needs to be placed. Siding needs to fit around the
    windows, not 6” away.
    6. Remove the cost of the wrap for the garage and house.

    7. Remove the cost of clean up. Two times Aspen supposedly cleaned up and both times we had to
clean up ourselves. We found nails and staples for days
    8. Remove the cost of the dumpster. It sat in our driveway over two weeks. We were charged
daily. Nobody cleaned up. The trash bag is still outside after a year.
    9. Remove the $15,000 I had to pay my son to replace the damage inside the house and garage
    10. Remove the cost of losing out on our jobs/housing in a different state.
    11. Remove the cost of ruining new tires and missing the holiday with family.
    12. The stress and emotional trauma caused from the past year from Aspens employees is
unbearable. My coworkers, friends and family are trying to get me into a therapist because this
has ruined my life. I should have been moved into a new house, new job and living among family
and friends already but I am stuck here because of Aspen. The harassment from *** and *******
    is absolutely traumatizing.
    13. I need my electric garage door fixed. They cut the wires to that too.
    14. I need them to fix the wires they cut on the east side and the wires they shoved under the siding
    on the west side.
    15. If they can’t fix anything on my house after a year, I should be able to start charging them for
    mental damage.
    16. I need them to figure out why one of the crew members nailed boards to the end of my steps.
He said he was going to paint them then he texted and told me to use the money left over to do
the repairs myself or hire someone to do it for me.
Nobody from Aspen cared about doing a good job. I asked them to post the pictures of my house on
their website for adv***ising and they all left and never talked to me again. Apparently, they are afraid
to show people the pics of my house and the fact they made it this way.
    Extremely upset customer,
    ***** ******

I am rejecting any statements from Aspen Contracting’s CEO and President. On June 27 th , I emailed Pat
Nussbeck and attached all the photos of every issue we had and explained all the p***lems we had with
the workers. On June 28 th , he emailed back and said he would get back to us that day. We didn’t hear
back from him. On June 30 th I sent another email going into further detail. He didn’t reply once again.
On July 7 th , I sent newer photos of further damage done by Aspen. On July 12 th , he emailed back and said
he would get back to us tomorrow. Still no reply.
On July 30 th , we noticed the siding had fallen off. We called Aspen’s Main Office and spoke to a female.
We asked if someone could come out and fix the siding. She stated our records show we have had a
terrible time dealing with Aspen. She said someone will be out Monday morning. Monday evening, we
noticed more had fallen and nobody had showed up. We called the Main Office again, and a gentleman
answered. He said he could see the service ticket and said someone should have been there and he
didn’t know why nobody came out. He said he would have to call the Production Manager and ask why
they didn’t show up. We were on hold for a long time. He came back on and said the Production
Manager would not answer his call. He said he would have to call the President/CEO of Aspen. He said
the President was going to call us and explain what happened. We waited and nobody called. We
texted, called, and emailed requesting a phone call ASAP. He later replied with a text stating he would
have someone from the team fix the siding issue and look at the rest of the siding. The piece of siding
that was put up is warped and ***t. The rest of the siding is still falling off and warped. The gutters are
NOT properly installed, leaking, wires were cut, the siding was installed over the wires, garage door
wires were cut. Shingles falling off, wood strips nailed to our bottom steps, 2 large chunks of siding are
missing from the back of the house. Windows not installed properly, We watched live on the security
camera of a worker kicking our garage door, the door is dented and scratched. A bag of garbage they left
in my driveway from last year full of material that I cannot lift and the city sanitation department said I
am not allowed to put the garbage in my garbage bin. ******* said she would remove it, still laying
there. I have attached pictures and more complaints of damage that was never fixed. This has been
going on for over a year. We have been harassed and called names; told we were stupid. *******,
******, ***** and *** are no longer allowed on my prop***y. If I must get a restraining order, I will.
Nobody deserves to be harassed and called names for trying to get the service that Aspen provides
which is siding, gutters and shingles PROPERLY installed.
    Sincerely,

    ***** ******

The roof is complete, every issue that has been brought up we have addressed or are willing to address, despite allegations of no response or no repair or no concern.  We are not removing items that were paid for and required by her insurance.  We are also not paying for repairs that were done without our knowledge or approval to her son.  There was no estimate or notice given.  We have already paid for tires to be replaced, made multiple adjustments or repairs per her request.  She asked us to paint her steps. Her kick plates were rotten and could not be painted. So we replaced them for her. We have not harassed her.  We are sorry that she feels "traumatized" but the allegations and concerns keep growing and growing.

We are willing and able to show all notes, all repairs and go to mediation to close out these claims.

I will be rejecting aspens response . First I have to update the current pictures of the siding falling off, cut wires, emails and texts and proof that the ceo never contacted me. It’s going to be awhile since I work full time. They never painted the stairs nor did I tell them to. They ripped off the side railing  of the deck and I asked them to repair the side rail. The deck isn’t painted they just put a board up. Nothing is painted. They are charging me for the wrap and there is no wrap on my house. I will need a week to get back to you with proof since the ceo still has not answered our emails, texts or calls

Aspen came out and performed an inspection on our awning and gutter system in April. After 3 months of going back and forth between 3 Aspen employees, we finally came down to what we wanted and needed. The sent the original Aspen employee and his supervisor to Arkansas for another storm and handed it over to another employee who stayed in town. Then after the estimate and inspection was documented, that employee was also sent out of town to Nebraska for another storm. Reached out to the original employee and his supervisor. They told me they were going to reach out to the owner, get the materials ordered. I have since not been able to reach the supervisor or get a timeline for the project. Reached out to corporate and they said they needed to transfer the job to a local rep. I still have not heard back from them.

From the beginning, they said that no payment would be collected until I was 100% sastified. I had two buildings that they installed new metal roofs on. Once it came time for the walk through, my uncle, along with a general contactor, and myself kept pointing out mistakes. On building 2, there was issues with a leaky roof, uneven roofing, dipping in the metal, screws that were not screwed in all the way, and screws that were screwed in too much. They had to come back three seperate times to fix the leaky roof. They did a horrible patch up job. Looking at the roof after they claimed everything was taken care of, I noticed that only part of the job had been taken care of and not the full job. Also, there was rust forming on the brand new metal roof that had just been installed. The inside celing of the building was beginning to crumble in places as well. There was leaking inside the building also. After discussing all this with the sales people, they insisted we complete payment on part of the job and if i didn't they would come remove my roof. I expessed numberous times how I was uncomfortable with this, but they kept pushing to get payment. About two weeks after giving partial payment on building 1, there was a storm that passed through the area with high speed winds and rain. The day of the storm I heard flapping metal and what sounded like metal coming loose. After walking along the house, there was parts of the flashing that was coming undone. On the final walkthrough before payment, they assured me that all of areas that needed to be taken care of was. The day after the storm I noticed part of the metal roof was beginning to peel up. After months of expressing my feelings to them and being ingored, I asked my mom if she could help me take care of the situation. My mom texted pictures of the peeling roof to them and the claimed it had been caused by another contractor going on my roof, although no one else had been up there since the walkthrough. This continues

There is a manufacturer defect on the roof, we met with the manufacturer onsite with the property owner to go over everything. Manufacturer is ordering replacement pieces and parts for their roof. We have communicated and we are looking at week of 5/23 for parts to be in. Once all parts are in we will be fixing the different items on the roof. When the roof repairs are completed we will collect payment at that time.  We appreciate the patience while we remedy the issues.

Warrranty-covered Roof leak. October of 2021. Tech came out to repair leak and assess damage. Noticed mild/related wall damage to wood paneling and pointed it out to us. Have since tried to blame it on gutter issues despite never having assessed the gutters. Refusing to do work.

A letter was sent to the property owner on 3/10/22.  I've attached it here for reference.

Concerning the request from Mr. ***** and Mrs. ****** about the wood panel wall in their home, Aspen Contracting Inc unfortunately cannot cover those damages under the roof warranty. The reason for this is that the damages done to the interior of this wall were not caused by the roof leak that Aspen repaired around the chimney area. The damages done to the wall were investigated at the time of the initial repair and were found to be caused by an issue pertaining to the gutters. The homeowner(s) were informed at that time that these damages were unrelated to the roof and therefore we would not be covered under Aspen's warranty. The damages that were caused by the roof leak around the chimney have been completed and at this time there are no further repairs covered under warranty. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us. Thank you.

I contracted with Aspen Roofing to do my roof, repair, replace broken or rotten wood and then put up siding and gutters. While I was at work a crew came to my house and put up the gutters on top of rotten, broken, and bare wood. The company is asking for payment of the gutters and I feel like the job was not done correctly I have to talk to them two times about the issue and someone did come out and take pictures. During the last phone call, I told them to come and take down the gutters.

We have spoke with homeowner and we agreed on a game plan to get this situation handled.  We are re-working the estimate for the homeowner to include the total amount of fascia boards that need to be replaced and add total linear ft of custom bent fascia. We will review fascia and gutters upon completion for satisfaction.  We appreciate their patience while we find a solution to their concerns.
