    During my visit, I was subjected to behavior that was both inappropriate and discriminatory. I went to the store to exchange a Christmas gift that was purchased for a friend that was too small and when I got to the cashier line, there was a cashier by the name of ***** working with someone, a Caucasian lady next in line, and myself who was standing behind the Caucasian lady. After waiting about 7-10 minutes, a new cashier by the name of ****** approached and told the Caucasian lady he would check her out. Their transaction was quick lasting about 1-2 minutes, and instead of ****** taking me next, he walked away as if it was only important to relieve a Caucasian lady of her wait time and to h*** with the African American woman who was also waiting. I watched him walk away and wander around the store when he could have easily checked me out. After waiting another 5 minutes, ***** was finished with the customers and he asked me, are you ready to check out. I felt not only irritated but as if he was trying to be funny considering I had been waiting in line for approximately 15 minutes. I initially wanted a store credit so I could find another gift for my friend at Belk, but considering the discriminatory and racist actions, I requested a refund and asked to speak to the manager. Shortly after, ****** walked back over and asked what was going on. ***** then advised that I requested to speak to a manager, and he asked why. ***** then said, she just wants to talk to a manager. ***** called for a manager and shortly after, ***** appeared. I explained the situation to *****, and he was apologetic about the situation and stated he would take care of it, but I felt it necessary to reach out to the corporation to ensure that this situation was addressed. I felt that my race played a significant role in the way I was treated, and it left me feeling humiliated and uncomfortable.

    The **********, N.C. store located within the mall is not a place I recommend for anyone to do business with. Particularly if you are a minority. I am a Conservative, using the race card is not something I do. With that said, I am also disgusted with the way I was treated this evening at the ********** (*******), N.C. Belk located within *************. It is hard to deny the fairly blatant discrimatory manner with which I was treated to and I imagine if my characteristics were not of my skin tone, I absolutely believe I would have been spoken to respectfully and in a normal manner. I intend to contact the Store Manager . Mrs. ******* ******, on Monday. I asked for that information upon leaving because I am disgusted and frankly no individual deserves to be treated by an employee at Belk as less than, ignorant and second class. I WILL never step foot in there. What's funny is, My sister is a Supervisor at Belk in **************. If anything, perhaps the rude individuals in ********** will receive basic adequate training in customer service and how to better represent the diverse company they work for. God bless. AM

    I placed several orders before Christmas. The orders arrived and were clearly returned items that had been worn. Two were the wrong style, color and size. Another was extremely wrinkled, smelled worn, and obviously worn. I will never order from Belk or shop in store again.

    I placed an online order on November 26 for a Free People cami and top. Received them today and was shocked to see that the cami had a large red makeup stain on the front and top still had a LARGE magnetic security tag attached to it! How can they allow this to happen?!! I called customer service and barely got a mumbled "sorry." The *** also informed me that I wouldn't receive the return label for "24 to 48 hours." WHY?? If it takes them as long to refund my money as it did for them to mail the order, I will boil over. This is UNACCEPTABLE. They sent me two huge mistakes and are basically holding my money hostage. I am considering calling corporate to complain.

    Absolute trashcan of a company. Disgusting culture, My mother worked for this company since she was 18 and has been there more than 40 years and she has finally found a slower pace of work. Upon putting her two weeks notice in they are telling her they will NOT pay her out her MASSIVE PTO that she has accumulated. This is just bad business. Run your employees into the ground for years and just stomp on them as theyre getting older. I cannot put into words of how much ill will I wish on this company. Thank god they will not be on my mind any longer since my mother doesnt have to cater to this absolute s*** company. Please do not seek employment at this establishment, they will not treat you as a human being. More like a doormat,

    I ordered 2 items online to be shipped to me of which I received.. Unfortunately, it did not fit. I drove my car, my gas to the nearest Belk and retuned the merchandise. I was credited ONLY for the merchandise and NOT the shipping cost. I am a 73 year old senior only on social security. After calling customer service 2 x and it is not their policy to refun shipping cost, means I was charged for shipping even though I do NOT have merchandise to show for it. I will NOT shop at Belk again nor order anything on line so they canno make money from THIS senior who is just trying to make ends meet.

    On 10/12 was in the ******** store shopping for another Body Shaper due to a recent mastectomy. I asked for assistance from Associate: ******. I advise I was wearing a ********** brand and I wanted to try another brand. The young lady had very little knowledge about the products in that department but I took the information, thank her and continued to search. During the search, I stopped and stood in the department for maybe twenty minutes or so because I realized that I had not sent out an important reminder text to the group of Ladies that I meet with on Saturday nights. After I made my decision on two BodyShaper's, I left the department and walked down to the men's department to find my husband a belt. After about 20 minutes a young made came to me and made a joke, I ask could he check me out with the three items ( two shapers and one belt) he looked at the the young lady, on my right, it was the associate that advised me about the shaper, the man that worked for your company said she can help you.I looked at the associate and said are you looking for me, she said yes ( she looked to see what was in my hand). I said I have shopped at Belks for years and NEVER had I had an associate follow me from one department to look for me in another department. This made me very uncomfortable, my husband said it best, she thought I was going to steal . She was very obvious, I am asking for training for this associate. Also tell this young lady, Belks have security cameras and I am sure security, would have watch me and not make me feel VERY disrespected. I have a Belks card and I often shop on line. If you asked the young lady, I am sure she will remember me, I was pleasant and kind, even after I realized that she was operating in decent.I only Pray that she is HONEST, TRUTHFUL and FORTHCOMING and not LIE just to save her job ( smh) in regards to her actions based on her suspicious thoughts about me. Watch the camera's, then you will see my truths. Thank you for your time

    I was interviewed for a position at belk's in ******** ******** for the team lead beauty position I have been manager of ****** I have been an assistant manager of a store I am definitely qualified I worked at the counter manager of ***** ****** and Clinique at ******* department store I went for the interview it was not happy with the manager her name is ***** I do not know her last name as I proceeded to tell her my qualifications which she could have looked and seen my resume she had another person to be interviewed the next day at 3:00 and then she'd make the decision well I received a text from her saying that the person they picked was qualified above me I feel like I was being discriminated and I will never shop at that belk's in ******** ******** or give them my business and I feel that the manager there her sense of humor was as dry as cardboard she had no humor she was just *****.

    I worked at Belk from 4-24 untill 9-24. What you are about to read is something I witnessed and reported. I worked at a cosmetic counter at Belk. I have resigned from Belk. There was an employee that brought 2 baby rats and a baby squirrel to work with her in a cosmetic bag. This person worked with me at the cosmetic counter. I took a video of this employee ( with this employees permission) petting and caressing these rodents during a work day. This employee would take these rodents out of the cosmetic bag they were kept in at work and handled them during work hours and put them back in the cosmetic bag. This bag of rodents was found to have f**** in the bag as the bag was in this employees care for 8 hours a day. This person would go back to work selling, and applying cosmetics and skin care to the public after opening and petting these rodents. I could not believe what I was witnessing. This person, at one point, placed this bag of rodents on the register counter. This person picked up the cosmetic bag that day and left work for the day. I was not there for two days. When I returned to work, this person had these rodents with them again. At the end of that day this person put the cosmetic bag with the rodents in a drawer of a skin care display case. Expensive skin care products we sell to the public are in that case. I retrieved this bag of rodents from the drawer in the display case and I took the bag to Belks Human Resource Department. They looked in the bag and saw the rodents. I also reported it to my manager and also upper Management and to Belk Corporation in N.C. Ive heard nothing back from the Human Resource Department or Management at the Belk Store I worked at nor have I heard from Belk Corporation. This employee was back at work the day after I resigned. Handling disease carrying rodents and then contact with the public is unacceptable. I can not work for a company that has no concern for the health and safety of employees or the public they serve.

    I have been using Belk for a couple years and they have always been good. I ordered 2 ** **** flannels from the ($55 each when the other stores wanted $138) on Tuesday night and got them Friday morning.
