I had a horrible experience with Momentum Solar. Everything seemed great before payment and installation, but it quickly went downhill after that. During installation, they turned the electricity on and off multiple times throughout the entire house without any notice, putting my electronics and computers at risk. Their communication was a complete mess — multiple employees contacted me with conflicting information. Immediately after the installation, they failed the electrical inspection twice for the same issue. They sent unqualified staff who clearly didn’t know what they were doing. The inspector even said it was a life hazard and wouldn’t allow us to close the main breaker panel. Momentum claimed they could send someone to fix it in a week. Worried about safety, I had to hire a licensed electrician to fix their mistakes. I also ended up disputing the transaction and filing a complaint with the Division of Consumer Affairs. I’m highly disappointed and would not recommend them to anyone.Business response

Momentum Solar has been in contact with the homeowner. We have successfully completed the necessary service work, and passed inspections on Wednesday, February 5, 2025. Once Momentum Solar receives the certificate of approval, we will proceed with submitting the permission to operate to the utility company. The homeowner has raised additional concerns, and we are actively working with them to reach a resolution.Initial Complaint

We had solar panels put on our roof in July of 2017. The company Momentum solar said our roof was good to put the panels on. They were put on and not long after the ceilings has water marks The roof was leaking. We called Momentum they came out checked the roof the did a patch job. We has them come several times. It just kept getting worse. They just kept on coming we had to keep totes and pans in the attic to catch the water. We even had buckets and pails in the living room and bedrooms. Then they tokd us our contract was up. Five years so we wiuld have to pay them to fix the problem. Why should we have to pay them they never fixed the problem. We had to put up with the leaks its just wasnt right what they were doing. This year 2025 of January we had to.put a new roof on. We had a contractor come out and check out the roof. Liam from Lighting construction said we definetly need a new roof. They had to co tact Momentum to let them know they were taking the panels off. To put a new roof on. And when they were done Momentum would put them back on. The roof was done in a day. After the roof was done Liam tried calling Mom.entum to see when they were coming to put the solar back on the roof. They couldnt get an answer. They would keep putting him on hold for a while. Then he sad for us to try. I tried to get a hold of them kept getti g put on hold. They kept passong us on to other people. Finally we got an answer $4000.00 up front to have the panels put back on we dont have that ki d of money. We cannot afford 4000.00 we pay 99.00 a month to least them. We dont understand why we should have to pay that. It seems like a scan its just not right we are only on social security. We put up qirh alor from this company quth all the leajs and dreading everytime it rained. Wondering if the water is gonna come through the ceiling having to go uo in the attic and see if thevtotes are collecti g the water and having to empty the totes of water. We are in our 70s shouldnt do thiBusiness response

Momentum Solar has been in contact with the homeowner. After reviewing the call between the homeowner and our team member on January 27, 2025, it was clarified that the homeowner was transferred to Sunnova, the owners of the solar system. Sunnova quoted the homeowner $4,452.54 for the reinstallation of the system. Our Executive Solutions Specialist made efforts to assist the homeowner in reaching out to Sunnova for the reinstallation, but these attempts were unsuccessful. The homeowner has informed us that they do not have the funds for the reinstallation and have decided to move forward without having the system reinstalled.Initial Complaint

In mid November I reached out to momentum solar to get a quote. They followed up with me for the next 4 weeks while a plan was put in place so for $50k they would do the roof and the solar it was only 9.43KW system. After all the paperwork was signed the company ghosted me for 4 weeks and didn't come out to do the install, until I called them. They eventually came back with the excuse that because they had submitted a permit a few years ago to do this on my house they were trying to reuse that same permit with the city and it was denied, and that's what caused the delay and within a few weeks of that phone call I was scheduled for the roof and the solar installation and that happened back to back one day after the other the first day was the roof and the second day was the solar. Both teams couldn't speak English and I was unable to communicate with the teams on site to coordinate this better. Upon completion of the project I noticed many things that didn't seem normal to me all the mounts weren't properly anchored to the roof joists everything was anchored to all the cross panels on the roof which are super thin and have no meat for the mounts to stay gripped to, this will rip the roof off during high winds not just the solar panels. The wiring should have been run all externally on the roof but instead there are 5 new very large holes in my roof for the conduit that isn't properly sealed and will cause leaks. The way the conduit is run makes it stand out and unable to be hidden without at least another $20k of custom carpentry. The solar company installed equipment that can do both grid forming and grid tie, however, it's wired so that it can be used for grid tie only, instead of wiring it in accordance to be able to utilize all of its capabilities. I have called 4 times to resolve this and also sent 8 emails with pictures, the company keeps trying to push me into getting the inspection done so they can close out of the permit without fixing all this.Business response

Momentum Solar has been in touch with the homeowner. We have explained to Mr. ***** that, because the contract was originally signed in 2021 and the project was paused, new permits were needed. All required repairs were completed on January 24th to the homeowner's satisfaction. Momentum Solar is now awaiting an inspection date from the town and will reach out to the homeowner to confirm once the inspection date is scheduled.Customer response

This business called me from 10 different phone numbers in two days. I blocked every call because I do not need a solar company. I already have solar panels. I finally picked up and told them its inappropriate to call from so many numbers repeatedly. They need to understand that if a prospect blocks every call, their outreach is unwelcome. When I picked up, they said they were calling because I expressed interest in solar, but that was over a year ago and I contracted a different. Shame on them for harassing me.Business response

Momentum Solar is actively spam-calling my wife. They have set up numbers that show up as healthcare - we have a newborn baby and so she answers them. After blocking the numbers, they switch to a new number and we repeat the cycle. This is bordering on harassment.Business response

I am rejecting this response because:
In no manner should the business of Momentum Solar be flagged as Healthcare for anybody. Further, despite blocking individual numbers, the business continues to attempt to contact with new numbers.Even if this response solves the issue for us, it does not for the numerous other people to which the business is almost certainly applying the same practice.

We do not question that it is Mr. ***** complaint that for some reason a Momentum Solar call had a healthcare identifier for caller ID.We have reviewed with our internal information technology team and have confirmed that we have never identified our ourselves - nor would we - as a healthcare company. Rather, we were merely suggesting the possibility that in the caller ID system the number that we utilized may have previously been associated with a healthcare company, but we have no control over that. We do not doubt Mr. ***** sincerity, and we appreciate his raising this issue to us.We have taken all appropriate steps to ensure that Momentum Solar does not contact him again.Initial Complaint

This company keeps calling me even after blocking their phone number and telling them to remove my household from their call and marketing list. However, they will call under different phone numbers at different times throughout the day. A rep showed up at my front door today with a hard hat on and a construction vest on so I thought he was a rep from our utility company. It was not. it was a Momentum Solar door to door salesperson. They are not allowed to solicit in our community as it's one of our rights as part of our homeowners association. I need this company to stop contacting me. I'm not interested at all in what they are trying to sell me.Business response

We have notified the canvassing manager in this homeowner’s territory, and this address will not be canvassed again in the future. The vests and hard hats are used for safety purposes. Since it gets dark earlier this time of year, the vests are worn so that the canvassers are visible in the dark when they are walking in neighborhoods. The hats are also used for safety reasons as they are trained to examine the roof and/or exterior of a home if necessary.Customer response

I purchased a Solar system back in August of 2024 for $30135 and paid them $27121.50 with a balance of $3013.50 due when installation was complete. My complaint is the job is not completed as of yet due to damage to my roof cap where the installers nailed thier safty harnesses to. The repair company has made 4 appointments to come, they cancelled 2 and didn't show up for 2. I have done everything the company has requested, called customoer service and made request for the repair. Now I'm just getting harassing phone calls. threats with liens on my house and even shut off the production of my solar panals. I have let them know fix my roof and I will pay the final payment.Business response

Momentum Solar has been in contact with the homeowner. We have scheduled a site visit for January 11th to make the necessary repairs to the homeowner's roof. The homeowner has confirmed that once the repairs are completed, they will settle the open balance, and Momentum Solar will then proceed to energize the solar system.Customer response

Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response because: It was just lip serve. The time for the repairs to be completed has come and gone, no phone call, no text message, just another no show. This company has done everything from lying on the lien application, shutting off my solar production and harrassing phone calls, when all they had to do was finish the installation and repair the damaged roof.

Momentum has also clarified that, according to the solar agreement, the balance is due prior to energizing the system.Initial Complaint

For the past couple of days, at around noon and/or late evening, Momentum Solar has called. I have politely declined their services. I've requested my number be removed from their call list. Still, the harrassment continues. This despite me blocking their number. They simply employ another ***** number. No respectable business operates like this. The problem has grown into more than a simple annoyance and I felt compelled to file a BBB complaint. If this doesn't resolve the issue, I will be forced to take legal action. For the final time, please stop calling me.Business response

This issue started in September of 2024. I have an issue with production and my bills have been triple. They told me it was the Envoy unit and tried to bill for $800.00 for a unit that was 7 years old with a 10 year warrantee. After fighting to exorcise the warrantee I was then advised that I had a broken panel that needs to be replaced. They have a 25 year warrantee. I was advised that it was due to having an awning, which is completely false. So I have a panel that is non functional and they refuse to call me back after 4 phone calls.Business response

Momentum Solar has been in communication with the homeowner and has informed Mr. ***** that seven panels need to be replaced. The homeowner will need to file a claim with the manufacturer. A site visit is scheduled for January 3rd to collect the necessary details from the panels for the warranty claim. Momentum Solar will maintain ongoing communication with the homeowner until the issue is fully resolved.Customer response
