I have received several issues of *********** which I never ordered and it went to my previous address. I am not sure there are any charges associated with this but I would like the desired resolution below. Thank you. In addition, I have enclosed a photo of the mailing label (upload) from the magazine below. This is ***** ******, President of Strategic Media. This subscription came to you at no cost as a gift from an online site you have ordered from in the past. As per your request I have asked for it to be cancelled. You also will be added to our Do Not Promote list so you don't get any more offers like this. In addition I have requested your info be removed from our database. Please be advised that you may still receive 1-2 issues as the labels are pre-printed but we have processed the cancellation. I have been receiving magazines from wine spectator that I never signed up for. When I called the company they said the subscription was set up by a company Strategic Media. I have tried to contact the company to stop them from setting up any subscriptions in my name but I have not had any success. This seems like fraud as they make it hard or impossible to stop these subscriptions. Please help.Business response

This is ***********************, President of Strategic Media. We have gone ahead and cancelled this subscription. Just as an FYI this was a totally free one-year gift from an ecommerce site in the food & beverage space to thank you for your loyalty. It would not have renewed and we did not get your email or credit card info at any time. We only had your mailing address to send the 1-year free gift subscription. We have processed the cancellation at your request. You may still get 1-2 issues as the labels are preprinted but it has been cancelled. I recently received a magazine from Cigar Aficionado that I never signed up for. When calling to cancel the subscription, they informed me that I was signed up by strategic media. After filling out the form online, the email bounced back. I also called the number listed on the website and never received an answer or a call back. I am trying to cancel whatever subscription that they have signed me up for.Business response

Hi - my name is ***********************, President of Strategic Media. If you emailed us at our corporate site (*************************) those emails go directly to me and I always forward to our customer service. If you emailed customer service ********************************* and did not get a response I will investigate as I am bcc'd on all of those emails as well and we typically respond within 1-2 business days especially for a simple question like this. This subscription was included as a thank-you gift from a cigar site you have purchased from in the past. An email announcement was sent to you with all the details. It was totally free to you and had no automatic renewals. At your request we will cancel the subscription. You may receive 1-2 issues as the labels are preprinted. Thank you.Initial Complaint

I began receiving magazine subscriptions from ******** BAZAAR publications. Specifically, the magazines ******** BAZAAR and Elle. I never ordered any magazines subscriptions. I was only able to put them on hold with the ******** BAZAAR website, but the website says that I owe $20, $10 for each subscription. It also said that I have to contact the company that created these subscriptions, STATEGIC MEDIA LLC, directly in order to cancel them.I am reaching out to you, the BBB, because I seem to have failed to reach this company. I filled out an online form on their site with a complete description of the magazine subscriptions, the acct numbers associated with them according to ******** BAZAAR, my name, address, all sorts of information, including the fact that I want these cancelled and have no idea how or why they were initiated in the first place.As soon as I hit the send button at the bottom of the form, I received an email in my spam folder that said the message was not delivered. So, their form does not work and they cannot be reached by phone, but you seem to have success reaching them. Please help me cancel these, I feel like I have spent a good couple of hours trying to research and investigate a way to stop these subscriptions, to no avail, only to reach dead ends. Which I suspect that is the point, to try to make it impossible for you to figure out how to get them cancelled after you never ordered them in the first place. This is looks like fraud and feels like fraud. Please help.Business response

Hi this is ***********************, President of Strategic Media. I have seen ********************* complaint and reviewed his history with us. Noticing that we have already cancelled several subscriptions on his behalf. Oddly I searched for his email address supplied here and did not find any incoming inquiries. For future reference our email is ******************************* and I personally am bcc'd on all emails so I can ensure our team is responding appropriately. It's possible that he responded through our corporate site which was forwarded separately to customer service. Nonetheless rest assured that all of these subscriptions were included as a thank-you for making a qualifying online purchase and at no time was he billed. The $10 and $20 he is referencing is the value of the free gift. I have instructed my team to double-check that every subscription under ********************* name has been cancelled and that we add him to our Do Not Promote so he won't get any more offers from us like this again. Hopefully we have addressed his concerns. Many thanks.Customer response

My name is ***********************, owner of Strategic Media. These two subscriptions were included with an online purchase as a thank-you bonus from the partner entirely at no cost to you. There was an option to not get the magazine on the cart page but it appears that was overlooked. We are sorry for an inconvenience this caused and I have asked my team to cancel both subscriptions and we have added you to our Do Not Promote list so you don't get any offers like this again. You may still receive 1-2 issues as the labels are preprinted but we have processed the cancellation. We hope this has addressed your concerns. Thank you.

I began receiving magazine subscriptions from ************** publications, I never ordered any magazines ever. I contacted these publications directly to state I did not order these, I do not wish to receive them nor wish to be charged. I was told I cannot directly cancel receiving these publications ************ *********) because I was signed up via this media organization. This is a scam or fraud of some kind. The magazines she lists were given at no cost to her whatsoever as a thank-you gift from an ecommerce site she has ordered from in the past. At no time did we get her email or credit card number. The subscriptions are simply 1-year free and then end. However we are going to go ahead and cancel the subscriptions and add her to our Do Not Promote list so she doesn't get any more magazines in the future. Please know that while we are cancelling your subscriptions you may still receive 1-2 more issues as the labels are preprinted. We are receiving **** ********* which we did not subscribe to. That magazine said theyd stop it and said Strategic Media had signed us up. We will NOT pay for this and want them to take our name off their mailing lists and notify whoever gave it to them. I cannot get through on their phone numberBusiness response

This is *********************** with Strategic Media. I tried to call but it went to voice mail. This was a one-year totally free subscription given as a thank-you gift from a site that you have done business with in the past. At no time did we get your email or your credit card number so it's impossible for you to be billed for it. It was just a 1-year thank-you gift and then it ends. Since it sounds like you do not want it I'm going to go ahead and cancel it and add your name to our Do Not Promote List so you don't get an offer from this partner again. Please bear in mind you may still get another 1-2 issues as the labels are preprinted. We didnt receive your letter until the 6 days had passed.
The company did resolve our complaint satisfactorily. Although in the future it would be a good idea to notify someone if they were getting a free subscription to a magazine.

I started receiving a weekly magazines by mail, **** *********. I call the ********************** was told that Strategic Media ordered the magazine e subscription under my name and that it was being charge to my credit card. They said I had to call Stategic Media to cancel. This is fraud.Business response

Unwanted and never ordered magazine subscriptions to what appears to be: **** ******* ***** ********** *** *** **** *********.. I never ordered any of these and want them all and any future subscriptions to stop immediately and all personal information about me deleted from their data base and any other companies they are sharing my information with. When I tried to cancel one of the subscriptions myself I was redirected to call the Strategic Media company (I had never even heard of or done anything with) and it said no reps were available and led no where.Business response

This is ***********************, owner of Strategic Media. All subscriptions were cancelled and we have added him to our Do Not Promote list so he will not get any future magazines. I have also requested his name and postal address be purged from our databases. The labels are pre-printed on the magazines so he may still receive 1-2 more issues but I checked with my team and they were, in fact, cancelled. Our customer service is ******************************* and should be available during business hours M-F and typically have a very fast response times an FYI only. We sincerely hope this customer is satisfied and let us know if there are any further concerns. Thank you.
