I am filing this complaint against Media Collections, Inc. DBA Joseph, Mann & Creed for their blatant disregard of my rights as a consumer and their egregious harassment practices. I sent this company a cease and desist letter on December 28, 2024, yet they continue to contact me and my family members, often before 8 a.m., using threatening, rude, and offensive language. This company is attempting to collect an alleged debt that I am completely unaware of. Despite my formal requests, they have failed to provide any proof of their authority or legitimacy to pursue this matter. Specifically, I have requested the following: A written agreement with their client granting them authority to collect this alleged debt. A Forward Flow Agreement. A signed agreement between myself and this company or verifiable proof of a contractual obligation. Any agreement with my signature showing I agreed to pay the original creditor. Confirmation of whether any insurance claims or judgments have been filed by any creditor regarding this account. They have had more than 30 days to respond, yet I have received no documentation or evidence regarding this debt. Their continued harassment, despite the cease and desist letter, is both unethical and illegal. I demand that Media Collections, Inc. immediately cease all communication with me and my family. I also request the name and address of their bonding agent, as I intend to pursue legal action if this harassment does not stop. This company’s unprofessional and aggressive tactics must be addressed, and I urge the BBB to investigate and hold them accountable for these violations.

I am being sent to collections to Joseph, Mann, & Creed by ***** for a mistake they made. ***** is charging me $300 for missing keys. I returned the keys in the dropbox. It had flashing lights and it was easy to drop the keys off. I told my Chase credit card about the issue to dispute the $300 extra charge. ***** never responded to the dispute and instead sent me to collections with Joseph, Mann, & Creed. I should not be sent to collections for $300 when I returned the keys. This is ***** fault if they lost the keys. The ***** at IAH Houston Airport is poorly run and its not my fault if they lost the kids. Also, I rented a Tesla 3 and they didn't have any rental cars available so I had to use a dinged up SUV that was filled with smoke. It's not my fault if they lost the keys nor its not my fault that they couldn't get me the vehicle I booked. I shouldn't be charged this $300 for missing lost/keys. On top of that, I shouldn't be charged for a vehicle that I didn't request. Joseph, Mann & Creed should cancel this debt collection and tell ***** to find the keys themselves instead of charging customers. Reference ******** for Account number ********* at Hertz

I had charges go through against an old bank account that wasn’t even open anymore with BetMGM. There were multiple attempts that were put through totaling $525 even though there was no active account to begin with, therefore no money to be taken. I was then sent a ton of letters from Joseph Mann and creed about paying this debt. As soon as I look them up, nothing but scam articles and they aren’t event BBB credited. I can’t get ahold of anyone there and can’t find information to log on to see all of these bogus charges. They non stop send letters to an old address which is my parents even though I keep attempting to get ahold of them to change it.

My mother-in-law rented a truck through BUDGET TRUCK RENTAL. She did not sign up for any sort of insurance. The receipt shows total due as $875.00. All of this occurred during March and April of 2024. She paid the amount that was due. However, recently I received mail from JOSEPH, MANN AND CREED stating I owe an additional $1650. Based on the document provided, it looks like the additional charges are related to the insurance THAT WE DID NOT AGREE ON. In addition, the Budget Truck Rental company already tried charging my mother-in-law, the charge was disputed with Chase, and she won the money back because they are fraudulently attempting to charge extra fees that were not agreed upon. I was only the signor since my mother-in-law was not able to be present at the time of the truck pick-up. However, she was the one who made the reservation and paid in full at the time. I’m not sure why they are suddenly contacting me when she has already paid for the rental.

Contacted by mail regarding debt collection for The Home Depot. I have never done business with that company ever before I have always been a Lowes shopper. I called the debt collection company and they weren't able to provide me with any information on the debt or account. I never received a phone call back or any other information when inquiring about this issue. I have also don't a lot of research on this debt collection company and they are known to be scammed and unprofessional when it comes to working with customers. They have numerous of others complaints and tons of negative reviews. If this is the type of company The Home Depot associates themselves with then I am grateful to not be a customer. However I do not want this to negatively impact my credit due to misinformation and scams.

I rented a car through Hertz. Hertz states I owed them for a rate where they changed the rate after I left the station. They sent me to collections with Joseph Mann and Creed. I explained to the collections agent of the situation and sent them a letter stating that I do not owe Hertz any money. The collections agency is yet to respond to me. I have frauded this transaction with my credit card company and AMEX came back and said Hertz never responded to the dispute. This debt collector instead of verifying the debt and providing proof is trying to scam people into paying debts to Hertz that have already been resolved. Look at the the receipts attached, hertz is asking for extra payments two different receipts for the exact same rental record. This company doesn't even verify the that the debts they are trying to collect are remotely legitimate.

Spoke to a very rude employee named ****** at Joseph, Mann & Creed stating that he can't give me any information on the debt to prove what I owe. He also said the debt is on hold but I still need to pay it, when I asked for more information he hung up.

Due to the consumer's dispute, the account has been closed by our agency and returned to the original creditor, The Hertz Corporation. No further attempts to communicate or collect the debt, written or verbal, will be made to the consumer by our agency. The consumer will need to work directly with The Hertz Corporation for any monetary relief as Joseph, Mann & Creed does not have authorization to clear any amount due. The closure of the file in our office does not ensure that The Hertz Corporation will not attempt to collect the debt in another manner. Our client is the sole owner of the accounts placed with our agency for collection. We do not report debt on behalf of our client to any consumer reporting agencies, so the consumer's credit report will not be affected by Joseph, Mann & Creed.

I received a collection notice from this company dated Feb 19th, 2023. I filed a dispute via the website on Feb 22nd, 2024 (screenshot attached). To date, I have not received any correspondence in regards to this dispute. The notice clearly states correspondence would be initiated in 1-2 business days. At the end of March, my credit may be compromised. I called the company on Feb 23rd, 2024 but was not provided any information, except "We'll get back to you"

The closure of the file in our office does not ensure that The ***** Corporation will not attempt to collect the debt in another manner. Our client is the sole owner of the accounts placed with our agency for collections. The consumer should reach out to the original creditor for all future concerns. We do not report to any consumer reporting agencies on behalf of The ***** Corporation, so the consumer's credit report will not be affected by Joseph, Mann & Creed. Due to the original reason I disclossed - improper business practices.

    1. Between Feb 23rd and March 5th no response received in regards to the dispute filed against the collections notice. Automated system response displayed as "2 business days"

    2. Between March 5th and March 14th no response received in regards to account status change.

When we received the dispute from the consumer, we were unable to provide additional information or an adequate response from our client, The ***** Corporation. Therefore, we closed the account and ceased our collection activities. I apologize that a response was not provided within the two day period referenced on our website. The ***** does not require debt collection agencies to provide the consumer with a closure letter as long as collection activities are ceased and the account is closed. The account has been returned to the original creditor as we do not have the authority to forgive the balance or make any monetary adjustments. The ***** Corporation is still the owner of the debt. Additionally, we do not report to any consumer reporting agencies on behalf of The ***** Corporation, so the consumer's credit report will not be affected by our agency. We do apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. Please feel free to contact us if any additional information is needed. Thank you.
