I received a collection letter from Assured collections on May 26th dated May 8, 2023 stating I owed Philcare medical supplies $419.40 from August 2018. I have excellent credit and have never received any bills from anyone on this alleged debt. A 5 year old debt?? I attempted numerous times to call but no one answered. I logged in to see what the bill was for but there's no data other than amount due. I called my insurance and they paid the claim. I have military tricare so I filed a complaint with them against this deceptive business. I want proof this is my bill and an explanation why I never received a bill if it is mine. There should be a signed form on file of me authorizing services if it's valid. I also sent a certified dispute since the letter was already 3 weeks old when I received it. This also seems to be a trap to not allow a consumer time to dispute. This is also being reported to the FDCPA.

I have reviewed the business’ response and accept this resolution, however I want something in writing from the company stating the account is closed and there will be no collection action taken because i do not trust them.  Please send me a letter confirming these details ASAP since you'll do not answer your phone and I am unable to request over the phone.

sept 2018 surgeon ordered compression/cooling after spinal fusion. man drops it off, assures me there's no out of pocket cost, picks it up 5 days later. may 2023 i received a collection notice from assured collections stating i owe philcare medical supplies $1048.50. call my insurance company who provides cancelled check for $1048.50 to philcare medical. 4 years & 9 months later & clearly they either don't balance their books or are just plain fraudulent. of note: assured collections is a nasty bunch who are obviously conspiring with philcare to maximize their thievery.

Not only is there documentation showing the order and proof of delivery, but there is also an original invoice that was mailed stating the insurance company sent the consumer the check for the claim that was billed by Philcare Medical Supplies.  This letter was sent to the consumers address originally and was never responded to.  Please dispute the charge and our team will provide the documentation.

I am rejecting this response because:   they received and cashed the check

We received a debt collection letter from Assured Collections about a debt owed to Philcare Medical Supplies about medical equipment received in 2021. We never received a bill from Philcare Medical Supplies. I have spent three weeks calling “Kaila” at Assured Collections and never get an answer, have left multiple messages and never get a call back. Philcare Medical Supplies phone line has been disconnected.

Our system shows the consumer disputed on 5/1/2023 and should have the explanation of benefits that was sent showing a member responsibility of $395.00 on a claim billed by Philcare Medical Supplies and the order from the consumers physician that was sent to Philcare Medical Supplies for the durable medical equipment.  We will have an agent call the number we have in our system.

    Customer response

    05/30/2023

I am rejecting this response because:   An explanation of benefits is not a bill. Philcare Medical Supplies never sent an invoice to me. The 3rd party we received the medical supplies from told us we didn’t owe anything for the supplies, and Philcare Medical Supplies certainly was in agreement with that as evidenced by the lack of an invoice ever being sent to the 3rd party or to me. Please provide us with an invoice from Philcare Medical Supplies, as the explanation of benefits is very clear that it is not a bill and is not a legitimate document to create a debt from. Also it would be nice if you ever answered your phone or responded to voicemails. I have called 20-plus times with no response!

This company sent me 8 bills for medical supplies through Philcare medical in December 2022 from when I saw a chiropractor back in 2020. I contacted my insurance company and they said all claims have been paid and I don't owe anything. My insurance company tried to call Assured Financial but they wouldn't respond. I sent them a letter saying I don't owe anything and stop texting me and sending me letters. They continued texting me so I called and told them once again I don't owe anything. The lady I talked to was rude and not professional in the slightest. Then in April 2023 I received 10 more letters (same dates of service from 2020) now with my wife's name on them. She is now sending another letter saying she doesn't owe anything. This company is clearly trying to scam people and harassing in the meantime. They need to be shut down.

The original creditor is stating on this claim that the balances are incorrect due to some of the them being paid by the consumers insurance and their system not being updated correctly.  However there are patient responsibilities left over from these claims, but due to the error on the original creditors part we are closing this account and will not be making any further attempts to collect.

I had back surgery on 2/7/20 at ****** Murphy Clinic in Memphis TN, Before the surgery, the nursing staff put an anti blood clotting device on my legs. When I was being discharged, they took the device off and told me it was mine to keep. On 8/28/20, I received a bill from *** ******* Medical Supplies for the device. I call the clinic and was told that I did not owe anything since my insurance (Medicare and Tricare for Life) had been filled. That is the last time I heard anything from the *** ******* Co. I never received any other notices from anyone about the bill. Apparently, *** ******* is no longer in business. The number I called on my clinic paperwork said the number was no longer in service. I called the Assured Collections number and was told that I owe $1995 to Philcare Medical Company. While I was on the phone, they said that Medicare denied the claim but Tricare had paid about $1300. They had "forgotten" to subtract that from the $1995. I called the clinic back and their CFO told me to ignore them and not pay anything.

While ******* sourced the claim out to Philcare Medical Supplies due to not having the proper credentials to provide and bill the claim, the paperwork did not state Philcare Medical Supplies.  Therefore we are closing this account and there will be no further attempt to collect.

I receive a letter from Assured collections saying they are a debt collector for Philcare Medical Supplies. The debt is supposedly from 08/30/2018, 5 YEARS AGO. I did have knee surgery and was sent home with a brace that would keep my leg from getting a blood clot. It was given to me at the time of surgery and sent home with me, billed to my insurance. I’ve paid any and all bills pertaining to that surgery. I’ve gotten nothing since. I’m not sure this is what that was but I never received any call or letter from Philcare Medical. It is in the amount for $279.60. My insurance at the time was awesome and would’ve paid for most of not all of that so this makes no sense. And why after 5 years of getting no letters or phone calls am I getting it sent to collections? I went back to all my medical bills from 2018 and I have nothing. I take pride in my credit and do not want a collections on it. Make this make sense. 5 years????? I just got this bill today 04/24/2023. The letter is dated 04/17/2023. I called the 833 number on the statement and an Alexis voicemail came on. From what I’ve read, she doesn’t answer a lot. And why would a collection company only have one person working for them? I left a message and I’m sure I won’t hear back.

The debtor may receive validating proof of the order and outstanding balance by disputing the charge using the validation letter our team mailed.  However, due to recent changes in medical debt laws, and the age of this claim, we will be closing this account with no further attempt to collect and no reporting to any of the credit bureaus.

On 03/20/2023, I received a letter from Assured Collections stating that I owed $5570 from an unpaid Philcare Medical Supplies 2020 debt. The original bill came from a hip replacement surgery, and the payment had been processed by my Tricare insurance. I did in fact receive the supplies, but I have never received a bill of any type from Philcare Medical Supplies. I immediately contacted Tricare Insurance and then called Assured Collections. I was informed by "Alexis" that I needed to send them a letter with an explanation and printed proof of payment. I sent the letter and waited 2 weeks for a reply. When I didn't get a reply, I called back, only to be told they never got the letter. I was informed that I could submit the information via email, which I did immediately. Today I called back to confirm they received the email and was told they did. I questioned what action would be taken next, and "Alexis" immediately became irritated and threatened to delete my email and require another letter. I am simply attempting to clarify the situation and determine why Philcare Medical Supplies never billed me for this alleged debt. I consider the actions being taken by Assured Collections as threatening to my good credit and the entire thing appears to be a scam of some sort. I have attempted to contact Philcare Medical Supplies at several different locations and phone numbers, but I have been unable to speak to them. I am assuming they are either out of business or have changed numbers and identity to avoid questions. My Tricare Insurance also sent a letter to Philcare with proof of payment, but I doubt they received it or care to aide in resolving the matter.

Please email the proof of payment to ********@assuredcollections.com and our admin team will take a look at it.  If the proof of payment stands we will close your account with no further attempt to collect and there will be no reports sent to any of the credit bureaus.

I received two letters from Assured Collections LLC on Aril 21,2023 dated April 14,2023. Both letters are requesting payment for some type of medical supplies(that supposedly Philcare Medical Supplies provided to me) in the amount of $46.56 with one date of service 1/15/2020 and the other dated service 2/25/2020. I have no idea what they are requesting inasmuch as no invoices were provided. I immediately called the number that was provided(833-741-3346 and spoke to someone named Kayla. I asked her what these unsigned letters requesting payment were about. She asked me for my birthdate, which I would not provide. She said that she was going to disconnect me since I wouldn't provide my birthdate . I asked her to provide me with invoices from Philcare and she told me she wouldn't provide anything until I returned the letter forms that were sent to me. I told her that wasn't the way this works. I explained that I wasn't sending any money without proof of service by invoicing. She said she was going to continue processing claims against me. I told her that she had to know this was a scam and she hung up.

    Business response

There is a clear physician written order signed and dated by the debtor showing Philcare Medical Supplies as the durable medical equipment provider. The debtor can mail in a dispute to receive a copy of the that.

However, these accounts do look to be closed since 4/21/2023 in our system.

    05/13/2023

I have received two letters from Assured Collections  LLC dated 04/14/2023. One requesting payment in the amount of $46.56 with a service date of 1/15,2020 and one in the amount of $46.56 with a service date of 2/15/2020. I have asked Kayla from Assured Collections to provide me with dated invoices from Philcare Medical Supplies. She refused.  On or around 4/23,2023 I received a letter dated 4/21/2023 from Assured Financial LLC(note a different name from above) stating that I owe $78.00(again a different amount from above). Even if you added $46.56 and $46.56 together you get $93.12. So where does the $78.00 come from.  Also attached were alleged prescriptions/Dme Order from Dr. ******** ******. If you were to look carefully at Dr. ******s' orders the dates provided are 5/15/16 and 5/15/19.  Neither date tie to the dates of service listed above.

So in summary based on the evidence provided above the following seems obvious to me:

    1. No letter or billing is signed by any employee or representative.

    2. None of the dates of service agree with anything. The most recent dates of service stated were 1/15/2020 and 2/15/2020. I was not even in the Continental United States during that time frame. (These dates appear manufactured)

    3. None of the Dollar amounts are in agreement or defined.

    4. No billings from Philcare have been supplied

    5. How is it possible that any request for payment from May 15,2016 is now appearing seven years later.

    6. How does any company have access to Doctor notes

    7. In my opinion Assured Collections LLC or Assured Financial LLC(whatever their name might be) has manufactured billings and needs to be held accountable

I have tried contacting privider(Philcare) and collection agency with no response. I have until 4/28/23 to make payment before $50 late fee will be applied monthly

Due to the debtor not being able to contact Philcare Medical Supplies, we (Assured Financial, LLC) have closed this account and sent it back to the original creditor.  There will be no more attempts to collect and no reports sent to any of the credit bureaus.
