I recommend you stay away from this company. Wish I had seen these reviews before I even entered their website. I was trying to find their rates in the May2023 time frame and could only see the rates after authorizing to retain them for services, once I seen the rates I immediately backed out assuming I had NOT registered for their services, I went ahead and protested on my own that year and received a favorable outcome. I learned later that O'Connor tried to reduce my taxes further but were NOT successful. The remainder of the year 2023 I received approximately 50 emails from O'Connor requesting my signature for some paperwork, I assumed it was so they could try to reduce my taxes, So I ignored these requests because I did NOT want them to represent me. Fast Forward Jun 2024 and I receive an invoice in the mail stating I owe them because they represented me for tax year 2024. I asked for proof of my signature, and they could only provide an IP address. They said they have a standing order to represent me from that time I had requested their rates, and I would need to cancel if I did not want them representing me in the future, I immediately completed the cancel process and I continued to seek where my signature was captured if they wanted my money. They never did produce my signature to this day.Patrick O'Connor & Associates, L.P. Response

At O'Connor & Associates, we strive to provide positive experiences for all our clients, and truly apologize for the frustration you experienced . Our records show that you submitted the electronic authorization form, with your signature, on 05/12/2023, granting our company permission to represent you in the property tax appeal process. Upon reviewing the document, specifically 'STEP 5: Date the agent’s authority ends,' it states: "If you do not fill in a date, the agent’s authority will continue indefinitely. You must file a statement revoking this form or designate a new agent to end the agent’s authority." Since this section was left blank, no specific end date was provided, and the authority continues unless a revocation statement is filed or a new agent is designated. To resolve this matter respectfully and fairly, we have waived your invoice (# 895517822) for the 2024 tax season. Your account was inactivated on 07/12/2024, and an email has been sent containing the supporting attachments and documents you referenced in your review. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please contact our client services team at (713) 290-9700.Review from Cody S

I reached out one time for information and decided they were not for us. However, since that day I have now received 2 separate invoices saying I owe them for their service that I did not sign up for. They emailed me an "Appointment of Agent" form that has all my info at the top but at the bottom, the signature and I.P. address where the form was filled out are completely fraudulent. It is a random signature and an I.P. address not associated with me. This company is fraudulent and are thieves, don't even request information from these thieves or you will be scammed!Patrick O'Connor & Associates, L.P. Response

At O'Connor & Associates, we are committed to delivering positive experiences and apologize for any miscommunication you may have received regarding our services. Our records indicate that you submitted the electronic authorization form for our company to represent you in the property tax appeal process on 05/13/2022. The signature submitted in 'STEP 10' was associated with an IP address located in San Antonio, Texas. I also reviewed 'STEP 5: Date the agent’s authority ends,' which states that if no date is provided, the agent's authority will continue indefinitely. Since this section was left blank and no specific end date was provided, our authority to represent you in property tax matters remained in effect until you requested the deactivation of services on 09/05/2024 (via email). To resolve this matter in a respectful and fair manner, as well as alleviate any frustration this may have caused, I have waived all invoices on your account. Additionally, an email has been sent containing the supporting attachments and documents referenced in this response. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please contact our client services team at (713) 290-9700.Review from Martha J

1 star because I cannot leave 0 stars. In 5/2023 we appointed Patrick O'Connor & Associates to be our agent for property taxes for 1 year, making sure that we did NOT allow the appointment to roll over year-to-year. We ended authority on 10/1/2023. In July 2024, we received a bill for the follow year's tax period. As we had handled that year's taxes ourselves, and I was certain that the authority was terminated, I investigated the matter. On my customer portal, I found my original Appointment of Agent that ended authority on 10/1/2023. I also found an additional Appointment of Agent dated 12/25/2023 which extended the authority to 12/01/2024. I am certain that I never extended the authority past 10/1/2023 (and would have remembered doing this on Christmas Day too!). This was a FRAUDULENT digitally signed document which could only have been generated on the company's side. I notified them of the fraud and haven't received any correspondence. I haven't received a bill again either, so I assume that the matter is resolved. I am filing this review so that future buyers can beware of this company.Review from Andrew D

SCAM!!!! Stay away from this company! If you use them one year they will continuously bill you the following years because there is not an end date on the county appointment of agent form. They will say that is the contract you agreed to. I never signed a contract for 2024 agreeing to a price to represent me. The company can not provide any document I've signed showing I would like to pay for their services, and always goes back to saying the county appointment of agent form is a contract between us.Patrick O'Connor & Associates, L.P. We apologize for the miscommunication regarding our representation. Our records indicate that you submitted the electronic authorization form for our company to represent you in the property tax appeal process on 06/01/2023. Reviewing ‘STEP 5: Date the agent’s authority ends’ on the document it states that ‘if you do not fill in a date, the agent’s authority will continue indefinitely. You must file a statement revoking this form or designate a new agent to end the agent’s authority. The client did not specify a date for this step and left the field blank. We're sorry about the inconvenience caused and the experience he had with our company. I have emailed the client all relevant documents to support my findings, and confirmation that the account has been inactivated on 06/10/2024.Review from Crystal C

What a JOKE of a company. I asked them to protest my home and they signed me up immediately, but then NEVER APPLIED TO PROTEST (Confirmed with the County multiple times). They do not answer calls, emails, etc. even when emails are asking if this is a fraudulent company. I call to ask to speak to a manager and get routed through the most ridiculous "customer service" ever. Don't hear from them for MONTHS and then a bill shows up in my inbox for a hearing they apparently had almost a year after I requested services. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY, PLEASE LOOK ELSEWHERE!!Review from Cindy P

After getting my taxes down from over million to 914,000 with the appraiser. I thought maybe I could have it reduced more if I hired someone. Oconnor and associates did nothing for me but agreed to whatever I thought so hard for the 914 now they’re trying to sue me For nonpayment of something that they never did. This is typical for Oconnor and associates. If you look at the reviews, they do this over and over to people. They need to be stopped. Now I’m going to have to hire an attorney and go to court I would like to start a class action lawsuit against them as well.Review from Ruth A

Received call from O'Connor today for services. Representative would not accept "not interested". The call sounded like it was coming from *****. They also send out mail solicitations that are confusing to seniors. They represented us in the past and we realized we could do our own analysis and save money.Review from Ashley D

I would give 0 stars if I could. This company told me I would only have to pay half of what my reduced property taxes were. I have spoken to three different associates and none have been able to help me despite lying and telling me that they are going to escalate my case to a manager. O Connor could not even provide me with the decency to tell me that my protest was denied. Please do not use this company - save your money and time and either go with another company that is reputable or just protest yourself. The thousands of positive reviews you see online for O Connor are probably paid reviews or ** / illegitimate reviews because trust me, no one from the company is reviewing your case with care in the world.Review from John P

I wish I would have read the reviews before I hired them. In December 2023, I called them to see if everything was on track and they said my taxes were being reviewed with the board. I had just received a bill from the county with no changes to the amounts. They told me to ignore it and I would get another one. After waiting a month, I decided since taxes are due in 2 weeks, I should check with the county. They said my case was closed because O'Connor never showed up on Oct 31 for the hearing. If I would have listened to them and not paid, I would be collecting penalties and interest after Jan 31st. I am glad I never paid them anything. This company is a complete fraud and I am surprised the scam they are running has not been shut down by the law.Review from patricia m

Wish I can rate negative Zero. They are always calling, harassing for services never rendered. I signed up with them for a specific year. You think they will stop after that year. NO. they monitored my account with the county and every year there is a reduction in my property tax as it fluctuates every year. They will tag along and send me an invoice. They just do not know when to stop.
