This firm which has another location at Address: *************************************************************************** is refusing to accept MinnesotaCare and refusing to treat patients with this insurance. They should be sued for this, that's against the law.I've been going to the ************ location since 2019 and should be allowed to maintain this as my primary dentist to schedule cleanings without being told the insurance approved and supported by the state government is not acceptable.I think practices refusing service like this should all be shut down and barred from operating in *********.Initial Complaint

On Friday, December 1, 2024 at bedtime I bit down and felt the crown on my tooth break. I called Mandvi dental in ******* New Jersey my dentist for the last 20+ years. I was instructed to call the on-call dentist which I did and left a message.I received a call back the following morning and the dentist asked me to come in so that she could take a look and address the problem. they would open up the office for me normally they are open half days on Saturday, but since this was the weekend of Thanksgiving, the office was closed.I was satisfied with the work she provided for me and was instructed to call later in the week for follow up. on Tuesday evening I received a call from the office telling me that because I had a private arrangement with the dentist and came in on Saturday. They would not be submitting my bill to insurance and I was responsible for the full amount out of pocket.I told him this was not conveyed to me prior to receiving service and had I known I wouldve waited until Monday since I was not in any pain . I also told them that I followed the instructions on their answering machine advising me to call the dentist. And no time was I told that this was a private arrangement between me and the dentist. The dentist is an employee of the practice and I would have no reason to believe otherwise .I believe such a call after the fact reveals fraudulent billing practices and I informed them I do not intend on paying this bill out of pocket. I do not object to them filing a claim with my insurance company since the work was done, and I certainly would pay any co-pay or coinsurance necessitated by my policy; however, I do not intend on paying an amount of money that they see fit in charging me for services they claimed were a private arrangement with me and the dentistBusiness response

I was told I could do two more crowns on my teeth and I had plenty of insurance benefits to use for this and then I received a bill for the procedure. I also had an implant placed that another dentist told me was not placed correctly and he would not have placed an implant there. They charged $2,500 to my credit card and yet still told me I owed $500 even though I paid in full. They left me with an unfinished tooth and now I feel I can**;t return to the office due to an argument that ensued with the staff.Business response

At ******* Dental on October 30, 2023-I had a tooth extracted and asked my dentist, *************************, if he thought I could get a refund for the bridge that he put in for me in February, 2023. I had the bridge for about 3 months before the anchor tooth for the bridge had to be extracted, rendering the bridge useless. ************** said he thought that was a reasonable request and that he would let his office manager know so that she could file for it. The bridge was a replacement for the one that I had gotten several years before by my dentist who had since retired from the same clinic. The anchor tooth was not in good shape, mushy and painful, so a root canal was done and the new bridge was attached. I continued to feel pain and discomfort from this tooth and had a couple of rounds of antibiotics for it over the next couple of months. ************** had a colleague look at the X-ray in May, 2023, and said it was cracked and would have to be extracted and I would no longer have my bridge. He arranged for a refund for the root canal, and I received $985.00 out of the $1,200.00 that I had paid. I was happy to get that. In October, I had another tooth extracted and we talked about the loss of my bridge and I asked him if he thought I might be able to get a refund for that bridge and he said he would be supportive and talk to the office manager to get it filed for me.After a couple of weeks, I called to see if they still had my card number on file and the office manager said I would be getting a refund. I called again two weeks later to check on the status again. December 28, I called again and was told to stop calling them, that they didnt have to refund me for the bridge. I went to the office on April 10, 2024 asked for an update and the lady said she would update the request, I said thank you. I have not received anything about the refund.Office manager is **************** She goes by *****. I talked to ***** and ***** by phone.Business response

I have gone to Midwest Dental in ********** ** for many years and have had awesome service there. In March, 2024, the dental office told us that our insurance (through my work) will no longer be accepted (****************). I gave them my husband's insurance info many times. There was a staffing change at the dentist office and I have not had anything but problems with the billing. I have attached a pdf of all the bills and letters I have received along with a summary letter. I have never been late paying my bill - unless I was told the bill was incorrect. With each bill and letter, the amount I owe has gone up and down, but I can't figure out where the amounts they say I owe are from. I specifically asked prior to my last appointment if my appointment would be covered by my husband's insurance (since it was an ongoing issue) and I was told - YES it will be covered in full. If you look through the attachments, you will see that I have never had a zero balance (although I have always paid my bills). No person from the dental office will return my calls or even try to help me with this mess. I just keep getting a bigger balance with each bill and a different amount with each letter. I can't get anything to total and the $500.00 payment I made in July hasn't changed the past due amount for 2 months.Business response

I have gone through all phone calls to my cell phone and at my workplace - they have not tried in any way to contact me. They have both phone numbers. If they are trying to contact my husband, he doesn't respond to emails at his email address. This **** has my name on it but his appointments have been billed to my account.

Avoid Midwest Dental in ********** **. I had a deep cleaning done on my teeth last summer. When scheduling the appointment the receptionist told me she was checking to make sure the cleaning would be covered by my insurance or if it needed to be split into two appointments. She told me the full cleaning was covered by my insurance and also confirmed with another receptionist at the desk. My cleaning came and went and I paid my usual $50 co pay. That December I had my usual cleaning and was then told my insurance would no longer be carried by them beginning in January. I paid my *********** pay and told them to cancel any future appointments going into 2024. Months and months later after I am no longer a patient I am hit with an almost $500 bill for my deep cleaning visit which was 6+ months prior and I had already paid my co pay for. Up until this point I had never received a bill for that visit nor was I told at my December visit that I had an outstanding balance. I called the office after receiving the initial ******************* and told them that their receptionist told me my cleaning was fully covered and that I am not responsible for their mistake. Had I known it allegedly wasnt covered, I wouldve made two separate appointments to avoid a $500 charge like any sane person. The receptionist told me she would make a note to write off the bill. Two months later I begin to get receive the same $500 bills every month. I will not pay a fraudulent bill. The customer service of this branch is atrocious.Business response

New patient screening , 06-17-2024 , I went in to start new care at a new dentist . Nurses and assistants were perfect , nice and helpful . The dr. ** the other hand was straight off the bat disrespectful. In the special note section I shared some trauma and other history being I dont get numbed up for service decay or shallow cavities . Its not painful . He signed the paper work and said I wont work on you unless I get to stick you with a needle . I said no sir if you could call my previous dentist and ask about me and my dental history . You would understand ** really easy to work with I dont move . Ive been having dental work done my whole life by a dentist Im out of network with now. So I figured we could negotiate . When I shared my traumatic experience he called me a liar and got aggressive . I said sir you are being disrespectful I promise Im not lying . About my own mother practicing dental care as an assistant before she ever had her license on me . It traumatized me . To the point I absolutely will not let some one stick my jaw line . There are other ways available . I felt disrespected. I felt like a health professional was not being professional in any way . He threatened to call the police because I said I wasnt liying and hes was being a d*** . I called belvidere police department and the dr ******* talk to the police . After I talked to them in the parking lot . I felt completely disgusted by that medical professionals actions today . I will never go to Midwest dental again . The dr is stuck in a previous time era . I felt like I was being Interagated and not listened to as the patient I was . Just because my trauma was unique . And than he stormed around the office trying to call me a liar in front of plenty of the nurses and assistants and I had previously shared with one assistant the story about my mother and my trauma . The dr made a mockery of me . I get its not necessarily normal to ask for no needles for numbing,it was normal to meBusiness response

As I explained in my letters (attached), Midwest Dental is charging me for an exam I never had. This dental office promised to fill a tooth and clean my teeth, but the dentist never looked at or worked on my teeth, and the hygienist did not clean them. I did not have an exam. My insurance company paid them $62 for the x-rays, the only thing they did do. But Midwest never provided me with a copy of the x'rays. It was deceptive of them to agree to see me for a filling and cleaning, but then say they could do neither. Yet they keep sending me a bill for $78.00 for work that was never done. I want them to delete this bill and send me the x'rays. I do not want to talk to them.Business response

On March 18, 2024, I paid for a teeth cleaning $82.80. My ins. paid $38.70 of it, and ever since I have been trying to get a refund for $44.10. I have called twice, and all I get is, "We'll look into it," or "I'll get back to you." They told me it is refunded by corporate headquarters, and *****, the secretary, said she'd get back to me, and that was 3 days ago. I threatened to call BBB, and I still haven't heard back.Business response
