    July 8th I placed an order with amsoil for 13 bags of 75w-90 gear oil, along with a preferred customer membership($10.00). Two day go by and I never received any shipping or tracking number until after I contacted customer service. In a email CS tells me that my order got shipped to the wrong address. I dont understand how it gets shipped to the wrong address, when Im the one putting in my home information. Amsoil stated that my order would be shipped out the next day. They never offered to ship out the order faster since they delayed my original delivery date. Its July 16th after contacting amsoil for the 3rd time telling them to cancelled my order and refund me my money, including the membership money. I have not heard anything back from them. Someone at the company lacks integrity. I just want my refund in full. They can keep their product.

    AMSOIL INC.s response to BBB Complaint #********

    ************ contacted AMSOIL on Sunday, March 5, 2023, via a form submission on our website, to inquire about a coolant recommendation for his Jeep. An AMSOIL representative responded two days later, on Tuesday,March 7, confirming the appropriate antifreeze selection for his vehicle.

    Three months later, on June 13, 2023, ************ replied to this earlier email exchange and stated that he had purchased an AMSOIL automatic transmission fluid product (ATF) and had it installed in his trucks transfer case by a mechanic the year prior, but that fluid was now dark, and the transfer case presumably blown, and requested a refund. ************ then sent another email that same day requesting an oil sample test kit and invoking warranty coverage for his transfer case, and said he was concerned because AMSOIL did not participate in **** Chrysler of Americas (FCA) ATF-4 licensing program for automatic transmission fluids. No attachments were included, and no supporting documentation was provided in either message.

    On Friday, June 16, AMSOIL ********* Services responded to ************, thanking him for contacting its ********* Service Department with his concern and offering to send an oil sample test kit out. AMSOIL ********* Services confirmed that its ATF product is compatible with his vehicles transfercase requirements. AMSOIL ********* Services asked what address ************ would like the oil sample test kit shipped to, and advised that as part of the warranty process, AMSOIL would need the service history for his vehicle and a written diagnosis from the vehicle servicer confirming the transfer case failure and instructed that any failed parts must be retained for inspection. ************ replied with his preferred address, and an oil sample test kit was mailed to him that very same day.

    On Saturday, July 8, ************ submitted the present complaint to the BBB. The requisite vehicle service history and current diagnosis were not received by AMSOIL, and no sample of the transmission fluid has been provided to AMSOIL, for testing. On July 14, 2023, AMSOILs ********* Services department received an invoice from the Jeep dealership, which details the failure of the transfer case, and that the customer gave the Jeep dealership permission to replace the failed transfer case. At the time of the transfer case failure, the customers vehicle was within Jeep/Chryslers *** Power Train Warranty. However, the repair invoice that the Jeep dealership provided AMSOILs ********* Services department indicates the cost to replace the vehicles transfercase was denied under the Jeep/Chrysler *** Warranty due to the vehicle having an aftermarket calibration/modification to the vehicles PCM.

    To be clear, AMSOIL has not denied ************** warranty claim; it has made no determination either way, because ************ has not, as of yet, fully cooperated in conducting an investigation of the matter. ************ contacted us, initiated the process, then apparently proceeded to file the present complaint when we didnt immediately provide him with the funds sought, no questions asked. In an email ************ sent AMSOIL on July 10, subsequent to his filing of the present complaint, he admits to not having submitted the sample kit and asks what other documentation he needed to provide.  Simply put,************ is putting the cart before the horse; to date, the only evidence we have ever received in this matter is a spreadsheet with an estimate for the parts and labor on a power transfer unit install, the final invoice from the Jeep dealership that details the vehicle repair and reasons for Jeeps *** warranty denial, and ************** unsupported assertion that our product is to blame.  A bare assertion is not an acceptable basis for a warranty claim,where a plethora of other variables are involved.  Moreover, AMSOILs warranty requires basic compliance with its warranty procedure, which ************ has thus far failed to provide. On July 17, 2023, AMSOILs ********* Services department emailed the Jeep dealership, asking when the oil sample from the failed transfer case would be shipped to AMSOILs ********* Services department. Later in the day on July 17, 2023, the Jeep dealership responded, indicating the used oil samples have been obtained, and were left in ************** vehicle. The Jeep dealership has informed us that ************ has paid the Jeep dealership for the repair and is in possession of the used oil sample that AMSOIL ********* Services has requested. AMSOIL has yet to hear from the customer, as to when the used oil sample will be shipped to AMSOIL INC.

    As to ************** complaints concerning FCAs ATF-4designation, what he describes is a voluntary *** licensing program that AMSOIL does not participate in. In fact, AMSOILs ATF product satisfies FCAs specifications as expressed in their ATF-4 designation and is fully compatible with his vehicle. Participation in FCAs ATF-4 licensing program is voluntary and is not grounds for Jeep/Chrysler to void the *** warranty if an unlicensed lubricant is used. In addition, nowhere in the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee owners manual, or their warranty manual, does it state that using a lubricant that is not licensed by the vehicle manufacture would void the *** warranty. The law also supports this position.

    AMSOIL is sympathetic to ************, but notes that our warranty procedure is quite standard for our industry and is in no way unusually onerous or demanding. We cannot force ************ to provide the information and materials we have requested, but neither can we evaluate his claim until such time as he does. We continue to await ************** submissions, and upon receipt we will complete our investigation and proceed as the facts dictate. Should ************ need any continued guidance as to the warranty process, he is encouraged to contact us, and we will continue to provide the instructions, as necessary.

    Customer response

    07/18/2023

    Better Business Bureau:

    I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********* and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

    1.  I am uncertain what coolant has to do with this claim and apologize to the BBB for this organizations out of context communications and as follows.

    2.  AMSOILs response clearly has no merit and is a naked falsity lacking any supporting evidence at this time. Contrary, I support the assertion "that the fluid was now dark" as evidenced within this responses documentation page 2 which clearly displays "BURNT" fluid per IPAC professional diagnosis and further supported by another local shop; page 2 further supports the assertion "the transfer case "presumably" blown; I further support the assertion regarding AMSOIL's lack of participation as they are clearly "non licensed" as evidenced within complaint website links and any organization making the wild AMSOIL claims of ******* miles with extreme driving conditions and still solid would clearly participate in a manufacturer quality assessment to support their product and thus otherwise stating here appears suspicious (emphasis added).

    3.  Clearly, per AMSOIL, their recommended transfer case product was applied here and IPAC JEEP informed me they worked with AMSOIL to support their needs with this warranty claim. A note of particular interest is AMSOIL is aware an oil sample test kit was mailed per their own statements thus to rebut AMSOILs future statement "************ has not, as of yet, fully cooperated ....." is false, clearly AMSOIL acknowledges sending an oil kit thus should have had the respect to reference the tracking prior to replying and allowed the process finalization, the oil sample tracking is provided within this responses evidence at additional documentation page 1 (emphasis added).

    4.  Again, responding to AMSOILs naked assertions, I was informed by IPAC JEEP they complied with AMSOILs service history request and again as stated within 3. above clearly the samples were mailed 16 July 2023, again AMSOILs credibility should be reviewed as clearly IPAC JEEP included all the necessary information and even included the statement "FLUID IS BURNT" (which AMSOIL makes no reference to) thus clearly AMSOILs product is not as advertised and how many falsities must one encounter (emphasis added)? As for JEEP warranty, I am certain *** JEEP has serious concerns completing a warranty claim having "non-licensed" *** fluid (much like having some other calibration) and AMSOILs response clearly starts skirting the system to waive AMSOILs responsibility with this matter (emphasis added).

    5.  To be clear, this is not merely about AMSOILs warranty, it is about the false advertising as well supported at AMSOILs website (emphasis added). Again, further falsities as to my cooperation with this issue are communicated here; clearly, I supplied the samples and clearly IPAC JEEP assisted AMSOILs communications thus AMSOIL must stop falsely supporting these issues as again within the naked assertion "he admits to not having submitted the sample kit"; AMSOIL support the assertion as contrarily I support it here with clear *** tracking and again AMSOIL must stop attacking customers character with s*** like "putting the cart before the horse" because all that is is horse s*** per my clear evidence here (emphasis added). I, as any other reader, should be lost within AMSOILs failure to support any of their assertions with again statements "**************** unsupported assertion that our product is to blame."; clearly and contrary to ****************** assertions and per the evidence a JEEP qualified diagnosis determined "BURNT" fluid under ****** miles when AMSOIL claims ******* in the most extreme conditions is further falsity and further must stop falsely advertising the following while making no claims regarding "calibrations" (emphasis added):

    o  Withstands the rigors of heavy towing, elevated temperatures and challenging terrain
    o  Remains fluid in sub-zero temperatures
    o  Provides reserve protection during heavy use and abuse

    o  Designed for hard-working vehicles that live in severe service. Handles heat so well, you can confidently double your vehicle manufacturers severe-service drain interval with guaranteed AMSOIL protection.

    o  RESERVE PROTECTION AGAINST HEAT AFTER ******* MILES

    o  ABOT test performed by independent lab based on total acid number (TAN).

    o  *** transmissions valve body is clean and virtually sludge-free following ******* severe-service miles. *** clutch plates demonstrated only trace discoloration and earned a rating of good, the highest possible, for deterioration/wear.

    o  PROTECTS AGAINST THERMAL BREAKDOWN
    Formulated with high concentrations of antioxidants, making it naturally heat resistant.
    After ******* miles in severe service, fluid analysis revealed Signature Series Multi-Vehicle Synthetic ATF contained 83 percent of its original oxidation inhibitors.

    Again, Mr. ******* check your organizations oil sample tracking and refine the **** process, clearly the sample was mailed 16 July 2023, and kindly stop the legal ramble regarding my character from AMSOILs false advertising campaign and clearly *** would not warranty a product using non *** licensed products, duh; clearly, *** (Stellantis) supports their customers with statements "FLUID IS BURNT" and kindly support your naked assertion with supporting evidence as this your ramble starts to engage warranty fraud as well, check the tracking AMSOIL provided, duh; and clearly my responses should establish AMSOIL is an organization lacking controls and leadership (emphasis added).

    6.  As for "voluntary OEM licensing program", engage the program if your product is as advertised above and stop creating falsities with a non ATF+4 product (emphasis added). Clearly, this paragraph is further unsupported rambling thus further questioning AMSOILs controls and leadership (emphasis added). Further, AMSOIL has not included me in any communications thus further establishing their false advertising fraud, where is any of this ATF+4 (not -, clearly AMSOIL is -4 not +4) designation, licensing, satisfactory -4 specifications, warranty manual comprehensive authority (should not be communicating for Stellantis), and legal basis when clearly, the evidence I provided clearly establishes non licensed ATF+4 should not be applied and one should be extremely cautious of the ****************** advertising otherwise, FRAUD (emphasis added)! Clearly, the *** site communicates stay away from the AMSOILs and ****************** with the following:

    "Only certified ATF+4 is recommended for service of *** vehicles as where ATF+4 is specified in the owners manual."

    "*** use of automatic transmission fluids other than ATF+4 could result in lower levels of performance, jeopardize transmission life, and void warranties."

    Licensing our ATF+4 product allows the millions of Chrysler, Jeep, RAM, and Dodge owners with vehicles on the road to receive transmission fluid that is designed exactly for their vehicle, said ********************************** former Chrysler Senior Specialist/Supervisor. Using ATF+4 ensures a longer transmission life with regular servicing as described in the vehicle owners manual.

    "*** ATF+4 Automatic Transmission Fluid formulation is exclusive to *** and ATF+4 is a registered trademark."

    "*** Center for ***************** monitors and publishes licensed ATF+4 brands to assist consumers in making informed decisions when purchasing automatic transmission fluid for their Chrysler, Jeep, RAM, and Dodge vehicles"

    "In ****, prompted by marketplace demands and evolving vehicle technology, *** US LLC established a licensing program for advanced synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid ATF+4."

    "Click here to see all licensed brands."

    "Each Blender and Rebrander involved in the production and sale of ATF+4 must be licensed and undergo a range of product testing prior to final licensing. Licensed brand names are periodically market-sampled to ensure consistent quality."; AMSOIL, pass or otherwise attempt program from falsities (emphasis added).

    "A Blender is a company that manufactures an approved formulation of ATF+4 and then sells the product to the marketplace or to licensed Rebranders. Each formulation must have a unique license number."

    "Companies interested in becoming licensed Blenders must submit a request for qualification of proposed formulations to CQA. *** ATF+4 specification requires a unique additive system added to base oils. *** US LLCs ATF Committee reviews each Blender application and qualification test data. Required testing includes physical and chemical, wear, friction and elastomer testing. If the applicants qualification sample is approved, the Blender then submits licensing documents, including copies of intended product labels for approval.
    Please contact us for more information on how to become a licensed ATF+4 Blender."

    NON-LICENSED BRANDS

    "*** list below may not show all non-licensed brands. To report unlicensed use of ***s licensed ATF+4 trademark, please submit the form on the Contact Us page."

    "Amsoil Signature Series Multi-Vehicle Synthetic"

    (emphasis added).

    7.  I am not sympathetic to what should occur to AMSOILs false advertising campaign and apparent warranty fraud and AMSOIL must be forced to stop all the concerns communicated within this response immediately as I cannot force AMSOIL otherwise and AMSOIL must be forced to pay all costs from their ATF+4 inaction and to cease advertising. Clearly, I completed AMSOIL's demands (that are not specified and supported here) when essentially one should not have to encounter these cumbersome procedures from false advertising and clearly lack of licensing programs completion (emphasis added). I request BBB oversite until AMSOIL finalizes their fraud.

    Thanks, regards,

    Hi WI BBB,

    attached Big * Tires receipt was the only transfer case work completed and was merely fluid exchange.

    IAW AMSOIL WARRANTY - LUBRICANTS, the following is required to make a claim (which AMSOIL apparently now has):

    1.  6 oz representative sample (mailed and supported);

    2.  Apparently *** acceptance denial communications required, which AMSOIL has but again appears AMSOIL is slipping non license ATF+4 alternative into transfer cases and falling back on the *** warranty (AMSOIL clearly advertises heavy use and abuse protection thus no further discussion should be heard "Provides reserve protection during heavy use and abuse"; thus false misrepresentation and also AMSOIL attempted, thru email, to persuade me to understand another study when that study does not even apply ATF+4 thus continual misrepresentations are occurring (emphasis added);

    3.  Failed part is with ***;

    4.  All mailing requirements were met to now include supporting documentation with miles at time of AMSOIL lubricant installation;

    5.  AMSOIL has proof of AMSOIL lubricant purchase from order number ******** (attached hereto).

    Should I request a manager to clarify these oversights, clearly I provided the transfer case service history within Big O receipt (that is their receipt and that is all that was provided and really had no concern being AMSOIL false advertising was so fraudulent nobody would think a new transfer case would be needed around 9K miles) and again attached here that is the only service when AMSOIL was added just over a mere 9K miles ago; also the written diagnosis is within the file and again included here, clearly within the middle of IPAC page 2 customer #***** states "FLUID IS BURNT" (emphasis added).

    BBB responses and AMSOIL are uncomprehensive, what are you specifically requesting otherwise as all has been provided if not complete specify the necessity; going back and forth without specificity is burdensome and displays lack of concern!

    I am contacting the BBB to request review of your oversights for employment evaluation as this become burdensome when an agency cannot even clarify their needs that are presumably already filed.

    Thanks.

    an emphasis into the lubricant being "not suitable for continued use" at under 10K miles and apparently not compatible with ATF+4 because calcium when the sample appeared aligned with a new unused AMSOIL ATF and not the result of abnormally high temperatures (this should clearly support fraud/misrepresentation because clearly within attachment 5 I am being told I have established nothing when clearly the sample viscosity is like new that has not been overheated BUT clearly not suitable for continued use when clearly the sample was worn down under 10K miles from manganese and ABRASIVE silicon, emphasis added):

    "The analysis of this oil shows abnormal levels of Iron and Aluminum"

    "The level of Silicon is severely elevated and indicates the presence of abrasives."

    "There is a severe level of Manganese in this sample, most likely due to wear as it is not an additive used in this lubricant."

    "The level of calcium is moderately high for this lubricant and could be the result from mixing or residual from the previous lubricant used."

Businesses are under no obligation to seek BBB accreditation, and some businesses are not accredited because they have not sought BBB accreditation. BBB charges a fee for BBB Accreditation. This fee supports BBB's efforts to fulfill its mission of advancing marketplace trust.
