Hello, on Friday 21/4/23 around 10 am, I received a request from a friend for a 6-digit code on WhatsApp, in my stupidity and distraction I forwarded it to her and since then my account has been controlled by a hacker who sends the same message and emojis in my name.I sent an email to the WhatsApp company and received the following responses - we are looking into the matter, then the matter was checked and your WhatsApp is working (if it was working, why couldn't I connect?) In another email they asked for my phone number (which I had already written in the online form!) and the record - an email where it was written Because I'm using an incorrect WhatsApp version and I had to download it from ****** App! All the dealings with them are simply delusional! Of course, all the apps I download are from ******! It's been a week and my WhatsApp is still active by the hacker, he continues to send messages to the contacts some of which also fell into the trash. Every attempt I make to log back in fails. When I log in and ask for a code, I get a message that I have exceeded the possible number of attempts and I don't get a code/call at all. Attached are the comments in the WhatsApp email. I would appreciate your help, I'm already desperate and don't know who to turn to.Unfortunately, WhatsApp seems to be avoiding giving help and a solution to the problem and I feel exposed to a scam that I have no idea how it will end.Initial Complaint

My WhatsApp was hacked over a week ago. The hacker is using my identity to message my contacts and ask them to send money. I have reached out to WhatsApp support several times for help, and I just keep getting automated responses on what to do. But unfortunately, even after following the steps, and waiting 7 days to reset or deactivate my account, it still does not work. The hacker remains on my account, harassing my contacts and trying to get money. This is completely insane that I can not get in touch with a real person from WhatsApp to help me either recover or at least deactivate my account. Terrible customer service. I hope this description can encourage WhatsApp to have better customer service so that other people do not need to go through this.Initial Complaint

I have a whatsapp account which I have been locked out from past few days. I am trying to log back into it as I got a new device but my phoen number is the same. When I installed whatsapp on my new device (3rd one) ********************** is not sending me any verification codes. I even went and checked with my mobile provider if its an issue of sim or my phone. It turns out my sim and cellular network is working absolutely fine. I am ******* all shorthand codes and SMS from all the other 3rd parties but WhatsApp. I emailed whatsapp 7 times and they are sneding me the same automated reply. They have been ignorning and not looking into my issue, I even contacted whatsapp Support Chat- they stopped replying to me there as well. I am a customer and I need to log back into my own account as there is something going on their back end which is blocking my verification code being sent to me. I have been trying to contact WhatsApp but they are not looking into my issue for more than 48 hours. It is very disappointing to see that I have to beg to ask them to let me into my own account. It would be greatly appreciated if BBB could interevene and resolve or have them contact me so this issue can be resolved at the earliest. Thank you!Initial Complaint

You've banned my account twice over the last two days. The on note I got on why, from the WhatsApp app is:1) "You may be abusing the group join feature." I don't think I've ever used this feature. Please be specific 2) "You're account is suspected of collecting information of or about our users in an impermissible way". This is not true, I have absolutely not idea what you're talking about. Please be specific.I'm not sure what is happening, I'd rather keep this out of court, so please explain exactly why you are banning my account. It's important as I'm currently using my WhatsApp account to collect money from a delinquent seller and I need to communicate with him. My complaint is about Ref#: ***************, which I opened with WhatsAspp Help Support. I have received a notification for more than one year while using WhatsApp. The notification appears for a few seconds to tell me when the battery life is low on the cellphone of the person I am speaking with on WhatsApp. This notification includes their full name and notifies them also when my battery is low (it includes my full name). I complained to WhatsApp that this as an intrusion of my privacy because no one external to my cellphone should know the state of my cellphone's battery life while I talk to them and my name should NOT be included in the message. I requested that WhatsApp tell me when this feature was approved and made public to its users. WhatsApp never gave me this information. Later I found info online about a past Beta Test (bet for iOS 2.16.13) which was a feature introduced for Beta testing in 2017 to alert user when their battery was low. But this feature was suppose to ONLY provide the message "Battery level is low. Call *** end soon." It is NOT supposed to include the person's name! And this beta version is similar to WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.17.38 which was discontinued due to privacy concerns and was part of the Live Location tracking feature which was supposed to be disabled. So why is WhatsApp using on my phone a Beta feature that was supposed to be disabled for privacy intrusion with the added feature that includes my name.?The links to info I found is below: ********************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************* This is a serious breach of my privacy and goes beyond the features that WhatsApp beta for iOS 2.16.13 was suppose to provide. I have used WhatsApp for many years, but as a webpage and a phone app before I was told that it could also be used as a desktop app. Since then, I have used it as a desktop app. However, I have had a problem that is recurring almost daily: WhatsApp starts out with a screen that tells me to click a button, only to see a screen that lists instructions on how to call WhatsApp a webpage and not a desktop app. That wouldn't be so bad if the instructions worked, but the instructions indicate the use of options in the phone app that do not exist! I have searched everywhere on the phone app to find the options indicated, only to see that they aren't on the app. I end up having to restart my laptop to get it to work. The reason that I am writing now is that I send messages to WhatsApp Support about the problems that I am having, but I get no response at all. I cannot accept that because if it claims to be support, it should be a real support and not just something indicated on a white screen that leads me nowhere.In addition, another problem that I have been having for some time now, and about which I have notified Support many times is that when someone gives me a telephone number to contact him/her over WhatsApp, I enter the number only to see that WhatsApp cannot find the number. I end up telling the person who wants me to make contact with me to contact me first so that I will have his/her number stored in WhatsApp. In short, WhatsApp is not working fully on my side and my appeals for help are being ignored completely. The problem still exists and I still have no solution. As I have said, WhatsApp Support gives me zero help when I appeal for help. Only the Better Business Bureau gets results; I certainly don't get them and the BBB has become the ombudsman who has to make things work.Initial Complaint

I sent a cashapp payment to a person that no longer has the phone or phone number so they arent able to send the payment back to me. *** called cashapp and they keep directing me back to the person and phone number that is no longer in service. Dear Better Business Bureau I am writing to file a complaint against WhatsApp for their unfair and unjustified banning of my number without any valid reason or prior warning. I have not engaged in any fraudulent, spamming, or other prohibited activities on the platform, and yet my number has been banned without any explanation or opportunity for appeal.The affected number ************** I have made numerous attempts to contact Whatsapp to resolve this issue, but all my efforts have been proven futile. The support team has been nonchalant and complacent in attending to my matter, leaving me without any means of recourse or explanation.This sudden and unexpected ban has caused significant inconvenience and loss, as I rely on Whatsapp for personal and professional communication. Despite my repeated attempts to contact their support team, I have received no response or assistance in resolving this issue.I request that WhatsApp review my case and provide a clear explanation for the ban, as well as the opportunity to appeal and regain access to my account. I contacted WhatsApp support that my account had been hacked and sypportmtild Me I had to reset my two verification and still did and still cant get back into my account. I told them hackers have used my WhatsApp to pose as me and say God knows whats and I contacted them 01/19/23 and still havent had access to my account since then and when I contact support they are no help.
