My car was towed off the highway due to a accident. I went to retrieve my belongings from the car, I was told I need to pay the bill. I retrieved my items and was told I needed to remove the car. I did not have a way to move the car at that time. Now I am being told I owe them cash my for the 10 days of storage. Original storage was 29$ a day and now they are charging me 37$ and I have to pay cash only.

CUSTOMER SETTLED HIS OUTSTANDING BILL AND THEN FAILED TO REMOVE UNDRIVEABLE VEHICLE.  THERE IS NO CHARGE TO RETRIEVE PERSONAL PROPERTY, THERE NEVER HAS BEEN NOR HAVE WE EVER TOLD ANYONE THAT.

I am rejecting this response because:
This response has been stated before.
i called prior to driving the 109 miles and was told exactly that, when I got to the mail slot, I was told I had to pay and I stated more then once to the girl that was to busy going to lunch to pay attention to me, ask me how I was paying and then she left, when I was ask again from another she said I had to remove the car and I said I am only there to get my stuff. Then I was told wait. The. Another person showed up. The place is a freaking mess. It took 4 hours to get my stuff and in the end I was told all of the above.
this company is awful and should have more complaints. They treated everyone outside as lower forms of life and I had just had a major accident and all I wanted was my stuff.

I did not want what they gave me, the pain and suffering of the accident was visible. And they lied then and continued to lie with the BBB.

    Sincerely,

Date of transaction: May 2nd, 2022. The Amount of money I paid the business: $2,390.56. What the business committed to provide you? Refund of $2,390.56 because it would involve violations of 2021 Florida Statutes *******.a. (undisclosed to them due to research afterwards of not receiving any response to my last email) violations of 2021 Florida Statutes *******.a. as written law would apply! According to the 2021 Florida Statutes ****** 1.a. "Any towed or removed vehicle or vessel must be stored at a site ... within a 15-mile radius of the point of removal in any county of fewer than ******* population. (This was at least 20 miles) **** site must be open for the purpose of redemption of vehicles on any day that the person or firm towing such vehicle or vessel is open for towing purposes, from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. ." (They were closed at 4:30 p.m.) Here are email correspondences with no response to my last email: See Upload supporting documents

I represent a creditor that has dealt with Tri-County as a result of unfortunate circumstances. Our borrower passed away unexpectedly in a car crash in February of 2022. We were unaware as creditor this happened and the crash DID NOT involve our security. We hold title on another vehicle our borrower was in possession of, but apparently the vehicle was parked somewhere it should not have been, and probably due to his death, the notices to move the vehicle had zero effect. County files a citation and here's where Tri-county comes in.They tow the vehicle, and send out notices, however as mentioned they go to a deceased person and a prior bank that was on the title to null effect. Subsequently, Tri-county apparently sets up an auction (whether in-house or third party, I can't tell) and sells the vehicle...we still hold the title...we get no funds from the vehicle sale...when I try to call Tri-county, 3 times now they have mentioned they don't have any information for me beyond when it was sent "to auction" and that someone would need to call me back. I have never received a call back. Our customer's relative is calling us trying to figure out what happened to belongings and memorabilia in the vehicle. I have no good answer for them as I feel Tri-county has left us out of the loop. This is purely disorganized business, and not to mention a borderline scam, because reviews online mention how the tow will hold the vehicle "for hostage" per say until they rack enough storage fees up to generate a profit, then when you want to get in the vehicle, you have to pay those fees to gain access or YOU JUST LOST EVERYTHING INSIDE THE VEHICLE.I feel confident Tri-county abuses all their customers in the same fashion, taking advantage of unfortunate circumstances, and forcing their hand on fees/charges that are excessive in order to get YOUR property back. I desire Tri-county to be more transparent about their business practices and provide accurate business records.

We tow vehicles everyday for a number of reasons, some of which are unfortunately due to fatality accidents.  Sometimes the fact that a death was involved is not always known and either way death doesn't negate statute.  The owner, (which is not always the same as the driver), the insurance, and the lien holder if on file.  Through the lienholders' own negligence of not responding to the lien letter and retrieving the vehicle they are now apparently upset.  Once a vehicle goes up for auction we don't need to return calls to discuss a vehicle that has already been lost due to the lien work process.  We can't hold something hostage if no one ever calls or attempts to retrieve a vehicle.
