Unable to reach Shamrock after several attempts to reach them over the phone. I'm unable to dispute my ticket or explain my situation. I also don't know if Shamrock is a scam. I read some reviews saying that they're a scam company.

    Business response

    02/09/2025

Our dispute process is clearly spelled out in the envelope that accompanied the parking notice.

We do not accept disputes over the phone. They must be done in writing and mailed into our office.

On Christmas Eve I parked in a lot that was being patrolled by this company. I was in the process of leaving and he obstructed my ability to back up and leave. I was in my car trying to move and he would not let me. He tossed the ticket at my car after taking a picture of my license plate as I was leaving.

We've responded to this complaint before.

We need either the license plate of the vehicle or the ********************** notice number so that we can respond to this complaint.

On Friday December 20th, we parked in a pay to park parking lot operated by Shamrock parking just off ************** in *******. We paid for parking per the directions on the signs and we were charged to our credit card from the website per instructions. although we paid, and were charged, shamrock parking still gave us a ticket even though we were there for a short time and had paid for the entire evening. The paysite was called "park ********," and we were charged $10.33. On Reddit and other forums there's are dozens and dozens of people complaining about this scam. This is not a one-off complaint - this is no way to do business. The signs are also ill placed and misleading although we managed to follow the very confusing instructions to pay in advance for parking that we now have a ticket for. We wish to have the ticket cancelled and also that the signs and business operations for Shamrock Parking are no longer allowed to operate in a manner that can only be described as a scam.

We cannot respond to this complaint without specifics.  We need to know the vehicle that was issued the parking notice so we can determine why the notice was issued.  There are too many variables to why this notice was written.

Also, the BBB website is not where you go to dispute a parking violation notice that was issued.  We have very clear and specific instructions on how to dispute your parking violation.

I parked in ********* and paid a ParkWhiz app for parking. Nonetheless I got a $60 parking ticket from Shamrock. No answer to phone or email; just recorded message that I need to submit a written letter with photo evidence to dispute even though I followed all posted parking instructions. This predatory practice needs to be called out publicly.

    Business response

    01/01/2025

    Mr. *****,

If you read the parking notice that was issued to you, you would have known why you were issued the parking notice.  The parking notice provides you with the violation reason and usually has additional comments after that.  In your case, you were issued the violation for parking in a reserved parking space and were not authorized to park there.  There was a sign posted in front of your vehicle informing you that a parking permit was required as well as the stall was stenciled with "Tenant Parking Only" in 12-inch letters.

If a parking space is labeled as "reserved", you shouldn't park in it and should look to find an alternative place to park.

I received a parking ticket from Shamrock Parking after using one of their parking spaces in *******, **********. Upon arrival, there were no clear signs or instructions indicating that payment was required to park. I thoroughly checked the surrounding area for posted rates, payment methods, or any form of notice but found nothing. Despite the lack of visible signage, Shamrock Parking issued me a ticket, claiming I owed a fee. When I attempted to contact them to dispute this charge, I did not receive clear guidance or resolution. Their customer support was unhelpful and did not provide any proof of visible signage or payment instructions. This feels like an unfair and deceptive business practice. I believe consumers should be clearly informed before incurring fees. I am seeking the removal of this unjust charge and a commitment from Shamrock Parking to improve their signage and communication to prevent this issue for other customers in the future.

    Business response

    12/20/2024

    ******,

In addition to the parking space you parked in having been stenciled with the words "********/Snapdoodle Parking Only" in large 12 inch white lettering, the 4-foot signs posted at the entrance and behind your vehicle providing you with the same language that states parking in the lot is for Piper Village patrons only and the lot becomes a public pay lot after 7pm and the rates posted.

We don't know how much clearer that can be.  The problem really is, is that you didn't thoroughly look at the posted signs at all.

I attempted to park my car in a Shamrock parking lot, and their App was not working despite several attempts to pay and re-enter my credit information several times. I disputed the tickets with screenshots and within their timeline required- which was a mail in option only. I was denied my dispute and charged a late fee after the 14 day notice. Which again, was only notified via mail. I want to report this business for an unfair business practice at which they were at fault for their App not working, and a lengthy and inconvenient dispute process.

    Business response

    12/20/2024

You disputed your parking notice and we denied your dispute.  We responded to you on 11/26/24 and gave you an additional 14 days to pay the fine at the original price.  You did not pay within that 14 extra days that we gave you and so the late fee was legitimate.  We informed you that if you don't pay within the 14-day window that the late fee would be applicable.

Predatory private parking scam. They put up ambiguous signs with no posted hours for paid parking, and sit there waiting for people to park at night, and immediately ticket them.

    Business response

    12/20/2024

None of our signs are ambiguous.  Please reference the parking lot and sign you're referring to.

    Customer response

Responding to the following comment from the company:

    > None of our signs are ambiguous. Please reference the parking lot and sign you're referring to.

Hello! Thanks for the response. I submitted a picture of the ambiguous sign in my original complaint, and am enclosing a print out as well. You can see that there are no hours posted at all on the sign, just a reference to a local business' operating hours. This is the definition of "ambiguous." I demand both a refund and an apology.

    ---

    To the BBB:

This parking "company" is a cancer on the city of *******. They create their little "parking lots" to look like street parking (with slanted parking spots), put up weird, and yes, ambiguous signage, and they pay someone to sit there like a rat and immediately write a "ticket" as soon as someone parks and walks away in a haze of confusion as to what the, yes, ambiguous, sign means. This is not a serious business. It's a scam. They should be shut down.

    Business response

    01/10/2025

That "ambiguous" sign you are referring to was put up by the bank because they were tired of people using their parking spaces for their customers.  What about the ****** sign at the entrance??  You failed to comment on that one. Perhaps you didn't bother to look at it at all.  That's the most important sign in the entire parking lot.

    Customer response

    01/27/2025

Hello and thank you for your note. I'm delighted to know that we both agree that the sign on the parking spot was ambiguous. I look forward to receiving a full refund, and an apology. Thanks!

    Business response

    02/11/2025

We did not agree that the sign was ambiguant.  We never said it was and do not believe it was. It still referred to having to pay for parking. The same as all the other signs.

We will not issue any refund either. (Don't even know if this notice was paid or not).

I parked in the shamrock lot and walked over to read the signage at the lot entrance to read what the rates were. As I walked back to my car after reading the sign there was already someone ticketing me who claimed to see my leave the lot, he was very rude saying "I got you ****** he also claimed that I had a previous ticket at one of their lots, but I have a new car. I disputed the claim, but they of course took their employee at his word saying "I left the lot and was visually out of site, but returned when I saw the attendant ticketing my car".... how did I see him if I was out of site... I literally watched the guy start to ticket my car from their sign and walked back over. I sent a letter to them asking them to provide the previous ticket information that they have on me before I pay, I have yet to hear back from them. They also stated ithat you are supposed to pay before leaving your vehicle.... Payment would have been $8, after 2 minutes of walking to read their sign and back, I got a $60 ticket.Horribly rude attendant. predatory practice. Dishonest staff.I am happy to pay the $8 as I would have if I had had time to walk back to my car, but I also need any other information they supposedly have on me for past tickets.

We talked to the attendant who was working the lot that night and he confirmed that he observed Mr. ****** walk past the entrance sign and around the corner of the building. He then walked up to Mr. ******** vehicle and began writing the parking notice when Mr. ****** came back and approached the attendant.

That be said, Mr. ****** did not pay for parking and continued about his business down the street.  As far as another outstanding notice for Mr. ******* we have no knowledge of it.

    Complaint: 22630560

I am rejecting this response because:
I did not walk around the building, I walked to the sidewalk, directly to the sign, read the sign, and while at the sign saw the attendant ticketing my vehicle. You attendant told me he could see that I had another parking violation at your lots, so he knew what kind of person I was. I then looked into the company and found many similar reports some of which say the person was ticketed while still in their car. I also found a previous business by the same owners called Platinum Parking that violated Consumer Protection Act and were fined $55,000. See below

Platinum Parkings notices make a series of misleading claims, including the idea that the tickets can be appealed, said Assistant Attorney General **** *********. Such appeals are inconsistently granted, even when there is a good reason to believe a ticket was mistakenly issued, and the appeals process is murky at best.
In the consent decree filed in **************************, Platinum Parking and its owner, ***** *****, agree to stop offering an appeal process if that process lacks fairness and well-defined steps. To avoid confusing consumers, Platinum Parking will stop using the word appeal and instead refer to a dispute process. Finally, they will provide a clear parking notice dispute policy to consumers who feel they were mistakenly issued a notice.

Yet when I walked over to read the posted policy on their 4 foot sign, I was issued a ticket for reading it. I have also requested over phone and mail for them to provide any information that they have on me or my vehicle an had not received a response. I am looking into the business more and will take action where applicable.

    Sincerely,

    ******** ******

    Business response

    12/05/2024

The parking notice was not issued incorrectly.  Mr. ****** parked his vehicle and left his vehicle without paying for parking.  That is grounds for our attendants to properly issue a parking notice.

    Complaint: 22630560

I am rejecting this response because:
To read your sign, I had to leave my vehicle, as would anyone. It is VERY standard practice in parking lots to leave your vehicle, get your bearings and find a sign that displays the rates before paying. Especially if you are in an unfamiliar area at night. I expect a public apology from Shamrock Parking but based on their unprofessional comments to other individuals who have filed complaints I doubt I will receive one. See the comment below left by your company to someone who left a complaint previously.

"We already responded to ********************** dispute.  We asked her to publicly apologize for her comments" "We don't expect ****************** will publicly apologize because she is an angry woman and she feels slighted.  She thinks the worst of everyone.  We feel sorry for her..."
    -Shamrock Parking 8/23/2024

I hope that the owners at Shamrock can look inward and adopt practices and company culture that are not actively predatory and learn to respond in a more professional manner.

    Sincerely,

This occurred at 11/2 when I bought parking from a parking lot that advertised pay for parking past. In a QR code next to my spot, I bought parking that said would expire the next day 11/3 at 2:00 AM, as can be seen from my receipt. The parking was for retail and I was in the bar next to the lot in the same structure, at ************************When I got back to my car at 11:35 though, I had received a ticket at 11:27 for $60 dollars, as can be seen in the ticket attachment. I was also the last car in the lot. In addition, the images of the car taken show a date of 6:28 AM 11/3, as if they are trying to show that my car was past when it actually was there, in order to charge me extra. They can't even keep their own story straight, as the ticket itself says 11/2 11:27 PM (they added exactly 7 hours). I paid for my parking and hence do not believe I am responsible to pay this fine, given as well I paid for 2.5 extra hours past when I actually left; they are attempting to make me seem like I was longer.

Mr. ********* did pay for parking after all.  It took some time to find it in the system, but we found it.  His payment was directed to another location of ours instead of where he was parked.

We owe Mr. ********* an apology.  We have voided the notice issued to Mr. **************

on 07/16/2024 at 20:51 at night , I picked up food from restaurant called O **********. It took less than 1 minute to pick up a food delivery that was ready. I came back to find a guy literally ******* to write me ticket. I parked in the wrong restaurant parking by mistake. I explained to him that it took less than one minute. He still insisted on giving me a ticket. I called the number on the ticket and their phone clearly indicated they do not respond to any dispute by phone. on 07/29/2024, I disputed the charges by sending them a certified letter with reference **********************. I have never heard back from them until I received another letter with the increase fee. Clearly they ask customer to dispute ********************** fee by letters but they never respond to those letters. I think this is a very deceiving practice and it's unfair to the community. The comment online are all horrible about this company practice.

Mr. ***** parked his vehicle in a private parking lot and specifically parked in a parking space that was reserved for a tenant.  The parking space had "Reserved Tenant Parking Only" painted on the ground and there was also a sign posted in front of his parked vehicle informing him that a permit was required to park in that space.  Mr. ***** totally ignored any of the warnings and parked his vehicle and walked over to a nearby restaurant.  When he returned to his vehicle, our attendant was placing a parking violation notice on his windshield and informed Mr. ***** why the notice was being issued.  Our attendant pointed out the writing on the ground as well as the sign in front of his car.

Mr. ***** wrote into our office to dispute the parking notice, and we responded to him on 8/13/24 with a similar response as this one.  If a parking space is reserved, you should not park in it; no matter how long you will be parking.  The parking space was reserved for that specific tenant and required a parking permit to be parked in it.
