They charged me $249 to get my EIN I’m trying to start a sole proprietor business. I thought this was a site affiliated with the IRS. At first it said my payment was declined. My bank sent me a fraud message at 3:14 am 3/16/24, and then I went back to the web page and I did NOT proceed with the payment. Soon after I get an email at 6:48 AM 3/16/24 that my submission is being processed. I check my bank account and yea they took out the money out. I get home to call and cancel my payment. I was told it might not be possible depending on how far along the filling was. Also, the lady also did not want to give me her name just gave an “agent number: ****” I dont feel safe them having my information and just want my refund. And feel like I was scammed.Business response

On 3/12, I thought I was on the IRS website to get an EIN for a new LLC I was going to form. The website indicated that the EIN would be provided in 1-2 business days and I paid the $249 reluctantly since the last time I started a new business it was free. Afterward I looked up more information realized that I had entered personal information on a third-party website. I sent a message through their support portal on their website requesting that my order be cancelled. I also called their support line and did not get through to anyone - nor was their voicemail "personalized" in any way for their business. I am requesting a full refund and a guarantee that all of my personal information has been wiped from their database/system.Business response

Applying for EIN . Searched and this website came up. Logo looks similar to IRS and went through questions and paid 279.00 all could have been done free. Got ahold of someone and said they cancelled the order and I would be refunded within 3-5 days. I think it is real shady business practices.Initial Complaint

I went through the process of filling on necessary paperwork to start my small business. I searched on google “IRS EIN Tax ID number”, this website came up and seemingly looked legitimate because it uses the IRS logo. First and foremost I am a student I do not have a steady income which is why I’ve decided to branch out and start my own small business. This company preys on new entrepreneurs and cons them into a service that they could easily do themselves for free if the were not mistaken directed to their third party website. I filled out my information as usual and never saw that there was an associated fee which deceptively looks correct because I know the IRS service is free. Later I saw a $249 dollar purchase on my DEBIT Card (I will be filling a dispute once the charge is out of my activity zone) I am scared and have had to freeze all of my accounts. This company has all my personal information. I demand a FULL Refund and that my ALL of my PERSONAL INFORMATION (which includes my name, phone number, address, Social Security number, date of birth, business name) be deleted from the website now. Please refund my order in full and fully delete my information.Business response

I contacted the company US tax ID for support and getting my EIN and never received it. I paid $249 for it to be just a ****. Someone needs to look into them because this is not right.Business response

Searching for a tax-id application this website comes up intentionally passing itself off as the primary route towards gaining a tax-id number. It does not clearly separate itself from the IRS and charges a high fee for something that is free but one doesn't know likely if it is their first time applying. I immediately wrote requesting a refund, however they now are stewards of my SS and countless others. They should be investigated to see what they might additionally do with that information because I haven't seen anything that says whether they safely dispose of such sensitive information or not. On March 7 2024 I payed the amount of $249 for a EIN number to start a business I never received the number an update email or anything I would like a full refund and all of my information wiped from their system I thought this was the IRS website but it wasn’t.Business response
