My family and I were visiting ******* from ********* and just arrived the day of my violation. We went straight from the airport to lunch, parking in a lot at ****************************** newcomers to *******, everything is new to **. Upon parking, we noticed a sign directly in front of us, which you can see in the attached picture. It indicates that payment is required from 8:00 am 8:00 pm, except on Sundays. Since the day was Sunday, we thought payment wasn't necessary. However, we still downloaded the parking app and tried to pay, only to be told by the app that payment wasn't needed today. So, we went to lunch. Returning to our vehicle less than an hour later, we were shocked to find a parking violation from your department. Fortunately, the parking enforcement agent was still there, and I had the chance to speak with him. He informed us that the sign we saw was for street parking, not the private lot we used. We had no idea about this distinction. He expressed understanding but mentioned he couldn't void the violation, advising me to contact the office. I'm more than willing to pay for parking and felt we had made every effort to do so. I did go through the dispute process on their website, which only gives you ********************************************************************** pictures of their signs, not taking into account that we had never been to this city in our lives and the sign directly in front of our car said that parking was free. I'm simply asking to pay the 2 hour rate for parking in this lot and not pay the violation fee of $80. I'm not trying to get out of paying for parking. Why should I be punished when a honest mistake, which I didn't even know I was making, was made?

We received the request from this ****** on November 20th.  We offered to reduce the violation by 50%, or,if they wanted, they could file a dispute.  Decisions made in arbitration are final.  This ****** came back to IPM to request the original offer of a discount.  Unfortunately, the violation has been closed by arbitration.

Data of transaction: 9/21/2023 at 5:25PM.Notice#: 3923038572.This was at a parking lot on 6th Ave and ***********. I parked the car there and walked towards the parking machine to pay for parking. While I was operating the paying machine, a black guy in a patrol car rolled in and parked behind my car and wrote a ticket. I moved way from the parking machine and walked to him to explain that I was waiting by the machine to pay for parking. He continued to write up a ticket and gave me a "middle finger". And then he gave me a ticket of $60 dollars. I would like to ask them to cancel the ticket and have the black guy apologies to me.

    Business response

First, we feel that the customer's response is racist. The color of our patroller's skin has nothing to do with this situation.

Second, this is not how it happened. Since it happened last night our patroller remembered the customer and their conversation. Literally, all the customer said was "Are you giving me a ticket for 5 minutes?" and then walked away. Our employee most certainly did not give the customer the middle finger. The customer did not pay for **********************. You cannot leave a parking lot without paying and not expect to get a ticket.

Finally, this customer received a ticket and paid it in a similar circumstance at a lot nearby. Please see attached.

I parked in ********** parking garage at *********************************. I was coming to the attached retail shops as a customer. There is 3 hours of free retail parking stated for this garage, and there are designated spots which I was parked in. After being parked there for less than 2 hours I came out and had been ticketed. Time on the ticket was only about 30 minutes after I had arrived and parked! IPM also ticketed my friend who was parked a couple spots away and was also at the retail with me. Both of us were wrongly ticketed and IPM seems to just ticket whoever they want in these retail spots in the hopes people won't complain and will pay, as evidenced by prior BBB reports on this page. IPM is the worst parking management scam.

We need additional information in order to investigate this complaint. We need a citation number or license plate at minimum.  If this customer was parked in retail ********************** and received a violation we will gladly correct the mistake.

I am writing to dispute a parking violation ticket that was issued to me with the notice number 3923037668.The reason for my dispute is that I had indeed paid for parking using the designated method through my phone. The parking permit was paid right at the time I was parking my car. The parking permit invoice associated with this transaction is c2r6vhrj. I will provide evidence of the payment below. The payment was successfully processed, and I have not knowingly violated any parking regulations.

This customer is correct. The citation was issued one minute before the paid parking began.  Had the customer contacted us prior to paying the citation, we would have voided the citation.  We will refund the customer by check.  I will reach out to this customer for contact information to mail a refund check.

i did send the disputes , twice , at 2 weeks and 1 week ahead of expiration , but got no respond from business owner.

After I sent the complain to BBB, and paid the citation due to expiration date, they contacted me and claimed that I did not send the dispute but they willing to rebate my citation fee.

I sent them the proof that the disputes had been sent twice. They apologized and said the check was on the way. I have not received it yet, but hope it will arrive soon

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********,

Though there are some questions I would have regarding signs i recall seeing about Sunday ********************** being omitted, I realize it was my mistake as the 6th and king ********************** garage is different from the ********************** on 6th and king st. (according to ****** maps).

On June 9th, 2023, our vehicle received a ticket - even though we had approved parking. We live above the uwajimawa market and had approved parking. The leasing office sent our license plate number, make and model of the vehicle and dates we would be parking (June 8th, **** - June 10th, 2023). Of Course IPM does not do their job again and issues a ticket that we do not owe as they should be doing their job and checking the email for license plate information from the leasing office before issuing a ticket. My leasing office will also be in contact - but this ticket needs to be dropped ASAP. IPM does this way too much.

This residents property management company plans to reach out and explain the process of purchasing a guest pass to this resident. IPM had not received the information at the time the citation was issued. Normally if residents have issues with guest passes, they communicate to property management who will approve or deny voiding the violation.  At the request of the property management company, we have reduced the violation to a warning.

    Complaint: 20169737

I am rejecting this response because:

The response above does not reflect accurate information and I will be forwarding this repsonse to my property management company today, June 12th, 2023. In December of *************************************************************** visible on our dash (which were also given to guests), and stated that going forward, they were to receive the license plate number, make, and model of the vehicle, which in a recorded email sent by my property management office on 7/8/2023 (the day before the citation was issued), IPM was made aware that the guest vehicle was to be parked there. This was not for lack of notifying IPM on our end as we did exactly what we were supposed to and have the proof in a date and time stamped email.

This repsonse is full of lies and I will be making my property management company aware of this response since IPM does not know how to do their job correctly.

    Sincerely,

    *********************************

Dear BBB/IPM,I am writing to file a complaint against International Parking Management Inc regarding a parking violation notice that I received. On Mar 11, 2023, I parked in a parking lot that the company manages, located in ******************** at ******* **. I was dining at *************, one of the restaurants surrounding the parking lot, and did not see any payment instructions or signs indicating that payment was required.Despite this, I received a "No Advance Payment" parking violation notice from International Parking Management Inc. I believe that this is unjustified and that I should not have to pay for parking in a lot that I assumed was free for patrons of the surrounding restaurants.I feel that this is an unfair and predatory business practice and I would like to file a complaint with the BBB. I am seeking a resolution in which the parking violation notice is dismissed, and I would appreciate any assistance you can offer in resolving this matter.Thank you for your time and attention.Sincerely

Fifth and ******* has a large sign at the entrance.  (attached) *************** has its own reserved parking posted.  Had this ****** been parked in one of the reserved spaces for the restaurant he was dining at, he would not have been issued a citation.

    This violation is valid.

    Complaint: 19583059

I am rejecting this response because:

As shown in the attached photo, if you can follow the arrow to get into the parking lot.

It is clearly there is no sign and instruction that show I need to pay for the parking, especially in the evening or first time visiting customer.

And the restaurant I circled is just next to the entry of the parking lot.

It is illegally to charge people who doesn't know this is a free parking lot.

I will submit a case to small claims court.

    Sincerely,

Parked car on Saturday afternoon 03.04.23. No signs saying no overnight parking. Came back on Sunday at 10 am per the posted sign as you enter the garage. Approx. 3' 4'. No one here. Found a small 8x10" sign posted saying closed Sat. & Sun with a phone number. Had to call the listed tow truck company to let us in. $100 fee to be let in. This garage is a scam!!! Other reviews reflect additional issues here. On vacation. Have now lost $120 on event tickets as well.

The First and Columbia garage is normally closed weekends, except for events.  We were open on Saturday 3-4-23 for a Sounders game.  The sign showing closed at 11pm sharp was out on Saturday  along side of the regular sign showing closed on weekend. We do apologize if this caused confusion.
The next business day would have been Monday as there were no events on Sunday. No refund is due.

I am rejecting this response because:

Did the business look at the pictures of the signs posted?  They clearly do not know which signs they had out.  So the correct response is "sorry for posting the incorrect signs", not "sorry for the confusion".

I received a violation notice on 2/20/2023 in the mail (**********) from IPM. However, the parking violation the company is claiming and requiring I pay, took place over a year ago and this is the first correspondence I have received from IPM. I was completely unaware that I even received a parking ticket. The picture on the violation is completely blurry and does not even show my vehicle or the license plate. I filed a dispute and they since sent me another picture of my vehicle but because the event took place 12/15/2021 I would not have any receipts from the payment saved and no way of even remembering or accessing the material. The company lowered the ticket form ***** to ***** because I didn't receive any other correspondence; however, I am appalled that they would hold the validity of a ticket taking place over a year ago. I paid the ticket to avoid any late charges; but I believe they are completely at fault for not communicating with me sooner about this ticket. I also feel dismissed by their customers service team, as they closed the dispute after their response so I could no longer add any response or comment. Not to mention, you cannot contact them by phone. It is not right to be charged for something that took place over a year ago and I have no way of even remembering or proving any different and without any prior communication from them. This seems extremely shady and I almost felt like I was paying into a complete scam. The company only has a picture of my license plate and did not even share with me a photo of the car in the supposed lot. Again, this took place so long ago, it is ridiculous I am just now hearing about it and gives me a complete lack of trust for IPM. I will never be parking in one of their lots again, and will be sharing this experience with friends and family.
